- Khabib Nurmagomedov's cousin and President of EFC Shamil Zavurov recently told Russian media that he believes that UFC Lightweight Contender and childhood friend Islam Makhachev will defeat former UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliviera with "no trouble".
The Russian made the comment to the media after a recent EFC event in Kazakhstan and is sure to make waves with Brazilian fans.

I think Khabib has more aggression and are physically more imposing on the ground game, whereas Islam has more patience and more technical.

Very interesting....this guy clearly knows what he is talking about. Especially the difference between Islam and Khabib. Now that I see their past fights it is evident the difference. Islam is clinical whereas Khabib is brute force. They both seem to get the job done though. Only a grappling match between Islam and Khabib can set them apart. This guy was spot on about Islam subbing Olives.
I think the fight will be decided on the feet. Both are powerful grapplers in there own right, I feel like the grappling will be a stalemate on the ground, and whoever wins on the feet will ultimately be able to finish the fight with their grappling
I think you're right - there will be a lot of stand up in this fight that will influence the outcome. I still do believe that Islam will get the takedown and control Oliviera on the ground for a considerable amount of time. This will also force Oliviera to fight very cautiously on the feet to avoid a takedown.
It will be an dangerous error for Islam Makhachev, his sambo wrestling where he can secure a position and ground and pound his opponent is his greater strength.

I don't think Charles can hang with Islam in grappling. An elite grappler like Islam will have better control over Charles who is more a jiu jistu stylist than a grappler.

The strength, control and weight of Islam's grappling will be clear as day during the fight. No matter what he says now Charles is the striker in this match up and has to avoid hitting the ground. He'll be kept there, beat up and drained. I doubt he will be able to.

I would love to see an org that forces regional training imagine if you and your opponents had to train in same elevation over your camps...say what you want about the bout truth is Islam has up to 10% more o2 in his body then Charles, stronger, good striking, and a wrestler he has easiest win going to decision same way Khabib used to or he truly shows greed and goes for a dumb sub and loses. I'm a Charles fan but you cannot deny Islam is literally more efficient in every way in terms of basics hence why I said Charles will only win if Islam destroys himself. IMO I see this being either A) easy Islam win or B) Charles is losing heavily and catches him.
This is wrong in so many ways, I can't even start.
1. MMA fights starts on their feet and Charles is a better striker, he is agressive and will not let Islam have enough space to take him to the fence or the ground.
2. Even if Islam manages to take him to the fence or ground, Charles is the best UFC fighter in history fighting of his back, so it won't be easy to simply dominate him in that position.
3. Wresters tend to give their back a lot and expose their necks, Charles is the greates submission artist in the history of the promotion, it only takes one little mistake for Islam to lose.
4. Charles can knock him out or submit him, Islam's only hope of winning is holding Charles to the ground for 25 minutes and pray.

olives has finished all of his last 9 is less time than islam has spent in the octagon across those 6.
