I seen a screening of the film. It’s a beautiful piece of cinema. Jeremy Pope is a revelation and Gabrielle Union gives her career best performance. Please go out and support this film it is worth seeing.
WOW tell the truth! You can't tough love people in this aspect ... how sad! I've had a personal experience this year with someone that I love and a light bulb came on inside of me! How dare anyone think it's ok to throw another human being away? I CHOOSE to lead with love, acceptance and respect!! Just be open and allow people to be who they are and/or who they believe they are! It's quite that simple! You want people to love, accept and respect YOU well then do the same to/for others who may be different from you! What someone else chooses ain't about YOU it's about what that person chose for themself THAT'S IT! PEACE! You'll have more peace in your life and in this world!
Lord knows, I could relate to this film. I was black, gay and ran away to find myself, help my family and become a man. I served in the military for 26 years and had a white lover who also served in a different branch for 10 years. I can't count how many times I denied being a homosexual and I was followed for many years but I was very careful. My partner never answered the house phone for 13 years to protect me and he would pick me up and drop me off at different locations in the airport far away from the others (we only could afford one car). I made it to the top of the enlisted rank and many people were looking to take me down for just under suspension the being gay (had no proof) but I survived. I had one thing going for me other than my wonderful lover and that was my great mother. She loved me and was proud of my serving in the military. So I was lucky and this film will make me cry for so many others, who didn't have what I had.

And the gay lifestyle usually doesn't create monogamous life partners. That is what I am saying. Just like children of alcoholics are likely to become alcoholics, that doesn't mean they will drink the exact same type of liquor as their parent. His mom isn't gay. I'm just wondering if she slept with any other men after he was born and before he graduated high school, thas all. At the end of the day, this kid also had an absent father obviously.
