  • While I highlight and demo the trim explanation in the H160, this applies to the H145 as well. We take a closer look at the use of the AFCS ATT trim and show examples of settings that will make your flights easier and finally get you in control of the helicopter without fighting AFCS.

    That sounds a lot like "Force Trim" as in the Bell 407, no? In fact, in the MS FSX version of the Milviz 407, I had my Thrustmeter Warthog stick set to operate Force Trim with the stick's paddle lever, (located in the front of the stick, just above the flare at the base). I would pull and hold the paddle-lever and then make the cyclic input that I wanted and then release the paddle-lever when I reached the intended adjustment.
    In that way, I could keep the Cyclic (my Warthog J-Stick) in a more comfortable, centered, and relaxed position. For example; if I happened to be flying into a strong head wind and the aircraft's nose wanted to pitch up, gain altitude, and slow down, instead of applying a constantly held forward pressure on the cyclic,
    I would release the force trim (disengage it), by pulling and holding the paddle-lever. Then, I'd apply the forward cyclic input I wanted in response to the head wind effect and release the paddle-lever when I reached the desired adjustment, which would re-engage the force trim. I could then relax the forward pressure on the cyclic and allow it to return to its center position.
    It's been a while since I flew the Milviz FSX 407 but I think I recited that correctly. Anyway, the H160's Trim Release function appears to work the same way but it's also incorporated some additional, and more advanced, options that work with the SAS, which the Bell 407 didn't have.
    Thanks for the video!

    Excellent explanation . Thank you. Just wonder how you got into that initial quiet hover....

      Trim Release, beep trim and a lot of practice?

    So, I'm just making sure I understood you about all of this. For BOTH, you pretty much don't need to use trim release?
    If I keep it in HOVER (default), I don't need trim release in hover, but once I'm going over 30kts, I need to hit it for any changes I make? Once I do, then set a new attitude and release, the system will hold the new setting?

      You’re correct, but when you don’t use trim release there is going to be noticeable delay in input and the helo grabbing that new point. It’s always recommended to use trim release.

      @@Blueecko so use TR even with BOTH selected?

    • @Blueecko
      @Blueecko  9 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it's still recommended when you takeoff/land because you get more responsive input.

      @Blueecko you're the man! Thank you!!! One more question off topic....is the H160 not all weather capable? Why no pitot heaters/anti ice. Or is it typical automatic everything Airbus?

    Did you setup your flightmodel settings in classic or modern? I tried exactly your way of flying and setting but my h145 is always slightly making nose up nose down while cruising. It is very anoing.

      Modern. The hype discord should be able to help a little more if you haven’t figured it out yet.

    Kudos to Hype and BluEcho! I use Pro-flight Puma helo controls. It has friction cyclic, no centering springs like a joystick. In the Tablet setup page i use "no springs" button as expected.
    Question: The Follow-Up trim is greyedout, when no springs is selected. Is FU Trim working on friction cyclics? What is happening here? Thanks in advance.

    • @Blueecko
      @Blueecko  9 місяців тому

      This is a new one for me but the dev said follow up trim is irrelevant. Follow up trim with the centering spring setting is trying to mimic what you have. Where you put the stick with the friction is where it is. No need for the other settings.

      @@Blueecko Thanks. Your videos are very good. I will be first to donate if you set up Patreon or similar until you perhaps monetize.
      Yes your answer seems right and is what I was thinking as well. Needed confirmation I guess. Good luck

      Stupid question then... in the real heli, does the cyclic spring return to centre or does it stay where it is put like a 'normal' heli?
