Dude....people interview ACTUAL SERIAL KILLERS. So should those interviewers be fired or have their advertising suspended? Are they somehow "supporting" murder just by interviewing them? Wait, so you're saying if they weren't given a platform that that would enforce what they're saying is true? That makes no sense. If I think someone who has said they saw a ghost is making things up, engaging them and talking to them about it is what enforces and encourages others to give it a second consideration, if they weren't convinced in the first place. Not giving them a platform makes the point that it's not worth your time and probably has no credibility.

I'm from Northern Ireland and honestly the General Election has been a shit show; especially here. We barely even have a functioning government in NI as it is, Theresa May doesn't give a shit about what happens to the North. We are always just tied in with the citizens of England and it fucking sucks cos they don't represent what we stand for. I myself, am an SDLP supporter and the realisation that our only seat holder lost his seat was horrible. The DUP working with May only gives me nauseating thoughts. There will always be this divide in Northern Ireland where those who are Catholic will vote for SF and those who are Protestant will vote for DUP. It has gotten to the point where we aren't even voting for what the party's stand for anymore. NI Citizens look at the ballot and only see two things, Catholic Vs Protestant. Arlene Foster, the leader of the DUP supports hard borders in NI; this will literally be the destruction of any sort of peace that we have with the south. It's terrifying to think that a woman as corrupt and horrid as Arlene will have the power, along with May, to gain all she wishes. Sorry this comment is kind of messy but I just wanted to share my thoughts..
As an Englishman, I don't have the same level of understanding of the issues in Northern Ireland but I visited Belfast about 10 years ago and it really struck home how bad things can get when we stop talking to each other. The UK can cope with a few years of moronic bigots and irrational spending cuts gutting our welfare services but further destabilising the strained political relationships in NI risks so much more. Reigniting the troubles would be devastating and have ongoing consequences for decades. As many have said - how can the British Government claim to be neutral if they allow one side (and only one) to enter into government?

To answer your question of why she is being crucified...Jordan Peterson probably explained this best in some of his lectures on post modernism...post modernists essentially believe it's immoral, evil, unfathomable to even listen to those they oppose which is why no one has yet had a rationale debate with one of them. He explains that they believe if they hear someone out who is conservative, libertarian, etc. etc. (or anything other than SJW) that they feel they are essentially submitting to them and giving up their "power"...so, the strategy for them is to avoid even the act of listening to anyone outside their "bubble" so they can avoid submitting to or being "controlled" by others' ideas (i.e. the system, the patriarchy, etc.). It's essentially the "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" religious-style of total avoidance of "intrusive' ideas, taken to the extreme . So, even when a journalist does their job by interviewing someone and challenging their positions, SJW's see that as an actual act of submission to the ideas expressed just by the mere hearing of it.
Anyone with even the most elementary understanding of human psychology can see what that means about most of these post-modernist/SJW's...their sense of self and strength of character is so weak, they fear that ideas with which they disagree will literally effect their well being and will control them. This is why you see so many of these people losing their shit when they are "debating" someone.

I'm not saying I exactly support this line of reasoning, but what they're suggesting is that handing a megaphone to someone who is like Alex Jones is worse than attempting to prove him wrong. The argument is that the majority of people have already come to the conclusion that his bullshit conspiracies are exactly that, so shining a spotlight on them does nothing but expose them to the kind of people who would believe that stuff and grant his "theories" legitimacy.
I see their point but I don't completely agree with their conclusions. Imo it doesn't matter one way or the other, the kind of people who want to believe those things are more than capable of discovering them themselves and they already put people like Alex Jones on a pedestal. I would consider it a neutral action to engage him, neither helpful nor harmful to anyone outside of the people reminded of the tragedy or offended by Alex Jones' words.

That's exactly his problem. I loved the back and forth on the Joe Rogan podcast, because Joe Rogan made him slow down and elaborate. It was a great pairing. Alex thinks and speaks way too fast, he assumes you have information that you probably don't already have, and he's not the clearest speaker. But if you look into the stuff he says, or really listen to him, he is often correct.

"Think for yourself, question authority." We should never be afraid to talk to someone, to ask a question. Although I do enjoy a good Nazi punch, I also see the value in a conversation. It is not with fists that we can understand each other and change opinions, we must communicate with our brains using logic and reason. If a "truther" (or anyone you disagree with) is not using logic in there argument, make that clear and have them clarify. Too many people give and are given labels so that they can be dismissed. Obviously there is a lot of evil out there, in our Gov and in our neighborhoods. It won't be exposed if we don't keep asking questions. Don't stop communicating, if someone has some crazy stuff to say, maybe try to understand what has brought them to that conclusion.
I'll be honest, I used to listen to Alex Jones and his podcast regularly. I haven't in a long time and I'll be the first one to tell you that he has gone off the rails a time or two.
With that being said, while you may not agree with his stance on Sandy Hook, you should at least here him out. It's easy to hear Alex Jones for the first time in this clip that Phil played or when you see the interview and say, "He sounds crazy"! I challenge you to go and watch some of his podcasts or listen to his show, especially his older ones. Back in the day, Jones was one of the first people to go after the Bilderberg Group and talk about them and everyone called him crazy. Now, the Bilderberg Group has been covered by mainstream media and has been proven to exist. That's just one example.
I'm not saying you should believe everything that he says but some of the things he points out are spot on. Just my two cents.

My Aunt was the other nurse who was employed at Sandy Hook, she was part time employed. She survived because it was her day off. She knew the students who were killed, she helped them when they would get sick, she knew the teachers as well. She even lived 4 houses or so down from where the shooter lived. My Uncle met the boy and his mom one time when they were stuck in deep snow about 10 years or so ago. He said that the boy just seemed a bit off when he had met him, and that the family weren't sociable. It is not a hoax.

in a negotiation where two parties it is obvious that the smaller party is the weaker one. however. this status quo changes entirely when you introduce a 3rd party. Now the smallest party has the most negotiating power. as it can lend it's support to which ever side would benifate it's stance more, further the other two parties might make consession to the smaller party in order to swing it into its favor.

Free markets work when the public can speak freely, openly and loudly to shut down a business that has disgusting practices. Journalism is a business, and when you lose your moral compass, the public has the right to not just shout them down, but boycott them out of business.
I live in Northern Ireland where the DUP has ruled for years. Yet they are the only election party in the UK that specifically goes against same-sex marriage and abortion. I personally feel it is disgusting that the LGBT community, aswell as women in N.I are denied the right that everyone else in the UK has. It makes us all seem so small and disrespected in this country.

As a mother who's lost two adult sons, I understand the sentiments of the grieving parents. I too would feel it to be a slap in the face, but it's called journalism. Kelly got more than she bargained for in terms of the loss of viewers, sponsors and her gig hosting a Sandy Hook gala, however controversy is what she wanted. ***eating popcorn***
The victims who are mad at Megyn Kelly aren't in their right minds, given the extreme trauma Alex's fans have caused them, and so are responding irrationally. All the other angry people are being stupid, sunlight is the best cure for lies. I hate all this "don't give him a platform" bullcrap that pops up whenever a controversial figure arrives. If Kelly doesn't interrogate Jones' message on rational terms, all that means is he has more control over his own ability to spread his garbage. People need to hear him speak, exactly because he damns himself with every sentence that comes out of his mouth. People need to see him, precisely because they need to see how positively vitriolic and irrational he is. All the great Western nations are built on the idea that we can get to truth through dialogue, shutting it down is never the way to go.

I don't think so. He admitted in court that he plays a character. If you meet Alex Jones fans, they always display a combination of insecurity and narcissism. Jones' value is that he exploits their need to feel special by "validating" their beliefs. Every episode is a positive affirmation that they aren't dumb; it's the public that is sheep.
He makes tragedies into entertainment. I cant be sure if even he believes his own delusions. Hopefully he does because at least that means he is just confused and not someone who purposefully disrespects the families of victims.

I'm from Sandy Hook, I helped get my nephew out that day-- I hate this conspiracy theory. That said, the "go to" move seems to be silencing/protesting everything upsetting these days: I feel stuck in the position of defending someone I despise. That's sort of what free expression is all about.

I'm not sure if I would refer to Adam Lanza as "not a person." I'm certainly not saying that what he did was in any way forgivable or anything of the sort, but it is a display of how poorly our country handles mental health, especially in relation to the ownership of firearms. His mother shouldn't have been able to have firearms in their household knowing that her son suffered from mental health issues, and she certainly should not have allowed him to have a gunsafe in his room.
As a swede it's kinda funny to hear how confused people get about the parties coming together in that way. A few years ago in Sweden that was the only way to do it. We haven't had a majority party for decades. The party who won started negotiating with the other parties until they had a majority and it worked great. The problem in Sweden now though is that none of the more conservative parties wanted to join so now the people leading is less than 50% meaning they don't get a lot of their things through and therefore a lot of things don't get done.

Ignoring significant things is LITERALLY why WWII happened. The US and most of Europe ignored Hitler and basically just gave him the first two countries because they figured he wouldn't be too much of a threat, and then it was too late to stop him. This is why we have history class. We have to be aware of the past so we can prevent it from reoccurring, and focus on things when they're happening to prevent things from getting too bad too quickly.
Another note on the sort-off coalition of the Conservative Party and the DUP, is that it puts major strain on the peace process in Northern Ireland.
While I can understand the backlash from the families of the Sandy Hook victims and empathize with their situation, I have to agree with Megyn Kelly and the idea that this interview should air. This is a man who constantly spouts nonsense, defames victims of various tragedies, pours false information into the ears of his naive listeners, and this same man has the ear and respect of the President of the United States. While people may have various reasons for wanting to prevent this interview from airing, none of them take priority over shining a light on the influence Alex Jones may have on Donald Trump. This is a point that needs to be driven home and, as Phil said, ignoring a problem is far more dangerous than exposing people to it.

But interviewing someone isn't a validation of their beliefs, especially not when it comes to someone like Alex Jones who already has a large independent platform... in fact the only reason why they're interviewing him is because his fans and the Donald Trump has validated him, so if he didn't already have a platform and an endorsement from the most powerful man in the country there wouldn't be a reason to interview him.

Phil, I don't know if you will read this comment or not. I am a resident of Newtown and live right next to that now "infamous" flagpole in the center of town. I lost a friend in that shooting, she was a teacher. She was bright beautiful and amazing. Everytime I hear that there are people that don't believe what happened on that day, I feel such sorrow. This is my home. I knew these people. They are gone now. Leave this town in peace.
