I noticed an 18" bar that fits the cs3000, which a 16" bar meant for the cs355t also fits... can I effectively use an 18"bar on my cs355t without harming the saw or will it be too much drag on the motor?
I run a 303T and the 355T (both stock) for climbing saws and both were "re-tuned" after buying from a dealer and both rip with no mod's done. I'm sure it helps a tiny bit but just seems like a lot of work and chance of damaging the engine if not re-tuned properly for such a small gain..just my opinion. I get my new cs620p this week and we'll see how it does, my other ground saw is a Husq. 350 and it came from the factory with its own custom muffler mod......it keeps falling off! and usually mid cut lol
I have run and tuned them before muff mod and it really makes a noticable difference!! Its well worth the time especially on the 2511 as well as the 355. It is important to tune properly even when not modified. To lean will blow them up 😶
@@timberandtools My 355t, stock, runs lean until the air filter is dirty and starts restricting flow. I'm in Delaware, which is at see level. The stock limiter caps will not allow a proper mix even without any mods (beyond popping the caps). I just did a light muffler mod - opening the intake side of the muffler to match the exhaust port, and rounded the sharp angles just inside the muffle. Now i need to pull the limiter caps and tune it. Is there a reason you didn't round the sharp edge on the muffle intake side? Air flows better around bends than sharp angles. Thats where I was coming from in doing that. I have no experience with muffler mods so.....
Running my echo today, power is great, but when it’s been running a while, it will continue to run at roughly a quarter throttle till you stop the chain w the brake or against wood. Do I just keep richening the high screw, or will I need to do a timing advance? Idle is perfect, runs really strong till it gets to temp.
No never had a problem with any of them starting, take it back to dealer if new. If not it's probably something simple. Check for fuel spark and compression
I find the 355T get hot around the muffler out of the box. I would think putting a mod on it would only make for burnt legs when using the saw up in a tree.
Honestly I think it might even make the muffler a bit cooler because it's less restrictive. Ether way I always clip it with the muffler facing the outside when I put it on my saddle
No, the main reason for this mod is to allow the engine to breathe better. If you do a muff mod and it's to big it will make performance worse. I can notice a difference in power after doing this mod and tuning properly.
Yes, how ever there are many reasons that could cause this. Start by simply cleaning out the carburetor and make sure it's properly adjusted. If the problem still persists check fuel lines and vacuum test. If you are not familiar with working on a 2 storke engine I'd recommend taking it to a small engine repair center or dealer.
@Timber and Tools did me one out of Copper...ol lady just raising hell because I just got it 😆 but I did it to where I can unscrew it and put the new one back on in case it has to go back for anything..5 year warranty ya know..
Clamp the damn thing to the bench or put it in a vise, one handing it invites fracturing the wheel, and you really don’t want fragments of that flying at you. Showing off in a video isn’t a good practice. Informative, but dangerous.

Loving this saw very powerful for its size
Yes they are really great, I am very happy with the 355t also 2511t. I have been running them hard for about 2 years with not one complaint
When you got the carb tuned, did you notice substantial power increase, assuming you pulled limiter caps? Thanks
Yes pulled limiter caps, huge improvement! These are not tuned well out of the box.
Perfect thanks

My cs330t had a cat I had to split the muffler to remove. Tuned the carb and it really woke it up
How much of the gains are attributed to just leaving out the spark arrestor screen vs the addition of the pipe?
The exit hole size is the main performance attributor. The pipe is simply to direct exhaust.
Only thing I would change is how it’s not in the center because of ocd lol
What carburetor changes do you make after this modification? I imagine you'd firm the high speed clockwise 3/8 a turn? Making it leaner?
Yeah usually, I'll toy with it a bit then tune it in the cut
NO, you tune it RICH when doing a muffler mod
