WOW.. your instruction is so professional and concise. spoken perfectly. ive watched hundreds of lessons/covers and this is far and away the best ive seen. zero time lost. lean and efficient. you could help a lot of people. very kind . thank you.
Thanks! I sang this song at a party in 66 before I started playing guitar later that year. I've been haunted by a couple guitar parts for 50 years so it's great to see how they are played finally....thanks!
This was one of the first live groups I saw at Medford, Or HS tennis courts. Always liked this song and their amps were Fender Twin Reverbs; Loud & Clean!! Thanks much Bruce.
I was actually taught how to PLAY this cool song when I was 12 yo by an older girl (maybe she was 13 or 14) in my YWCA or Girl Scout Camp in the Santa Cruz Mountains in 1966. (THOSE were the days!!) the THANKS a lot for the LESSON, Bruce Lindquist!
Thanks so much for this. I did this about 12 years ago playing Bass. The Bass part was pretty simple. I have a Fender Mustang so this is exactly what I was looking for! So Thanks tons my friend.
Thanks for this tutorial on a classic '60s garage rock tune. Easy to understand. Although at first I was confused by your reference to dominant 7th's, I would just call them 7th chords myself. Thanks for posting this.
Excellent best lesson breakdown you should do all the lessons for all the songs you explain the chords slow enough to understand some Internet teachers are too busy showing off that they can play the song you are fantastic my hat is off to you you should list all the songs that you play I just started playing again after a seven-year layoff for a stroke before that I had been playing since 1971 and relearning many of these songs you are tremendously helpful and I remember the time when I used to buy song books that put everything in the key of C so they threw out my money I think you again
WOW nice Fender Jag... A friend of mine bought one in 1965. He was in a full time band and liked the Jag but the one he had was always falling apart? Guess he thought he was in the WHO Thanks for this show of a great song and guitar..
THAT "CHORDED LICK" that the presenter here does off of the open "A" chord at the 5:40 time-counter mark -, just sounds SO quintessentially "mid 60's-ish" ! Playing riffs off of chords was a very common motif in 1960s-era "Garage Rock" tunes. ~ By the way, I wound-up researching this song here, because I had been learning the `90s-era song "Malibu" by the band Hole -, and IT ALSO uses that same A-maj/A-9th/A-sus "chorded lick" towards the last of the song during its secondary "verse" portions. Encountering that motif made me think, "Where ELSE have I heard that 'lick' long ago ?" -, and this Syndicate of Sound song came-to-mind.
the lead guitarist of the group actually played on the record.i thought it hadda be those wrecking crew guys but got an email from one other guy from them set me straight
That sounds good but in the recording I don't hear the stops when playing the two string riff. It sounds more continuous and smooth. Good job and thanks for the video.
I’m a fairly seasoned guitar player and it sounds like the higher part. I could be wrong but my ear tells me a little different. Ahh second part beginning sounds correct. Maybe I should listen to original again. Nice job though 👍
I disagree . . . Just play the basic guitar chords of E A D G and it sounds more like the song! . . . I have only been playing guitar for 60 years, what do i know !

Great lesson for a much forgotten 60's gem.
Thank you

Damn Bruce that was a mind bender. Haven’t heard that in many many years. Love it!
Great guitar playing! You are an excellent teacher!
I play this on my RIC 660. Great lesson, thanks.
Joseph P Liptak Jr - hope it’s a 660-12?!! Btw - if you ever get tired of it (or the new “stimulus” check is not enough), please let me know!!
thanks for a great lesson of a great song. Very concise and nice to see the song broken down into the different sections.
NICE lesson, Bruce. Concise, complete and just rolls right along. I'm in.
Thank you
Always loved this guitar part. Thanks for showing how it's done.
Very good teaching video.
Excellent lesson and a great sound with that Jaguar.
Love this song and your version! !!!!!
Couldn’t agree more!

Most excellent sir, we have been covering that ever since we heard it.

Love it!
Cool, cool, cool- 'nuff said!

Great job.
Nice one Bruce ace vid, Steady...

Hmm I have a 65 Fender Mustang. I guess I could get the same sound
Wow ! You make it look so easy.
Very cool song! Still have the '66 45 single.
Fine job Brucie
Very good...Thanks...but to get the full sound effect you need to play it on a 12-string...sorry if anyone else mentioned this before.
Love the Vox amp!
Me too! Vox are great amps

Hope my daughter gets to learn. Thank you..
Really best
the lead guitarist of the group actually played on the record.i thought it hadda be those wrecking crew guys but got an email from one other guy from them set me straight
Sweet!!!
That looks like Larry Ray's old Jaguar which was sunburst, and he sent it to Fender for a black repaint, including the black headstock.
Thanks!
brilliant wish Id watched this before attempting to cover the song
Timing those thirds is tough. Videos of this song show the band using Rics and they sound spectacular.
That sounds good but in the recording I don't hear the stops when playing the two string riff. It sounds more continuous and smooth. Good job and thanks for the video.
At last...the lead for this song...I had the chords but the lead escaped me...I was using the chords for the Leaves' version of "Hey Joe!"
Ohh I’ve been playing the rthyem part for40 years too lol
You know it really irks me when jerks give a thumbs down and never comment why ☹️
Me TOO!
Another classic from my wasted youth.
Needs the Rickenbacker 12 string to sound right.
Nah it sounds great just like this
That takes some skill to get it right.
Great! You should have played the guitar with Syndicate of sound!
“Little Girl thought she wouldn’t get caught you see....”
She started messing around on me
Cant tell your finger positions do you have tabs
ua-cam.com/video/q-1PnQJLysQ/v-deo.html
Garageband with iDrum (software).
I’m a fairly seasoned guitar player and it sounds like the higher part. I could be wrong but my ear tells me a little different.
Ahh second part beginning sounds correct. Maybe I should listen to original again.
Nice job though 👍
what do you use to set up the drum track in the background ?
iDrum
Jeeeez ... I have been playing it wrong for 50 years .... after the open I have always played A D G C G
I thought it didn’t sound like I played it either bro ☺️
Now I don’t feel so bad, I been playing it for 40 years that way too
The Dead Boys do a great cover
Thumbs up!
this cover is good too, but the dead boys also do a really energetic rocking cover as well
Now play this on a Rickenbacker 360-12!
Like this style of showing the song instead of just tabs. Easier to absorb .
The Syndicate of Sound band had Rickenbacher guitars. Way better sound.
That's not the way it was played on the record.
I disagree . . . Just play the basic guitar chords of E A D G and it sounds more like the song! . . . I have only been playing guitar for 60 years, what do i know !
Good except it's too staccato. The right hand never stops the triplets..
