Married to a Taiwan lady, and Asian food is great and good for your health. I am trying to learn how to make the sticky rice cake, with red bean, and Banh Cam Vietnamese sesame balls. Very glad I found your site.

I enjoy watching you cook vietnamese cuisine, they always look super delicious.I will try to make them one of these day.thank you much.you are an amazing cook.
I discovered a little Vietnamese restaurant in my home town and fell in love with the cuisine. SO simple and healthy. I love it.
Your dumpling folding technique is so great, I love the pillow dumpling shape.
I love your recipe and the way you guide us how to cook, so simple & nice! Keep sharing Vietnamese recipes, love u!
I enjoy the simplistic atmosphere. After all, a fancy table never made my food taste better.
That is so true, esp. in Hanoi. I've been there for 5-6 times but only this time I got to eat the most delicious food (thanks to a great local friend cum tour guide). And most of them are literally food on the street ^^
looks soooooo good omg
The dumpling looks like an empanada..... still both are beautifully delicious.
You make everything seems so easy!!
I will make this for sure I love crispy dumplings :) Thanks Helen!
Looking forward to making these! Thanks
I love street food and eating by the street! We don't have street food in Melbourne unless its for a festival. I miss it!!
This looks soooo delicious Helen ... I cant wait to try it. Thanks so much for posting this
Hi Helen, I would like to let u know that I love all types of Vietnamese food. Yum yum !
I love vietnamese food because I'm vietnamese
I love your cooking. So yummy and tasty. Keep up.
Còn một cách cảm quan nữa là cầm cả cái bánh lên, cắn phần đầu rồi đổ nước chấm vào cái bánh. Ăn cũng ngon tuyệt chị ạ :D
I love watching your videos! I learn a lot from them!
Reminds me of samosa, Indian vegetarian dried dumplings. If you're making your own dough, add a bit semolina flour, maybe 1/4 cup to a cup of flour. It'll make it crunchy.
Oh my God, these look delicious!
And yet again...i go to bed hungry...
Definitely will try..thanks for sharing the amazing recipe Helen
Looks delicious Helen!
Em xinh va huong dan lam mon an rat hay
As always, looks so yummy! I love that you make the recipe and technique so simple, even a busy person like me can take it on. Will be trying this recipe soon. Thanks again Helen!
looks good
Helen you got me to thinking!! when you open your videos you don't say where you are (I know you have said Germany) so I take the "background" for granted and just enjoy your cooking - but this video when you show the Vietnam street photos I saw people wearing cold weather jackets and that got me to "thinking" because I always thought of Vietnam as hot and humid - that made this video a special treat because it showed your good food and got my mind in gear
In northern Vietnam it could be cold esp. in the winter.
Another great and simple dish. Thank you Hellen !
伍小玲 Well simple is the wrong word to use when you showed how you folded all those dumplings. That is going to be the hard part. Best of Luck !
Yum!! I can't wait to make a trip to my local Asian market to make these!!
Can't wait to try this recipe! I will definitely use the 2nd wrapping method.
Cảm ơn chi ^^
Looks delicious Helen
I just made this and I have to say like always your dishes are very delicious thanks for sharing :)
wow......seem likes i need to try this in others time with Helen's Recipes (Vietnamese Food)
Will try this at home, ad simple and delicious! Also love your explanation and Übersetzung Der Hintergrundinfos!
I find that street foods are so much better when it comes to asian foods! Even here in the US some of the best foods are not necessarily that fancy looking. I rather pay for good food than ambience anyways! :) awesome recipe as always Helen! I've tried so many of your recipes.
i love this very yummy!!!thanks a million
Thank you so much Helen for sharing you recipe crispy dumplings . I will try in one day . See you sweetie .
you are a perfect cook
Looks yum.

Thank you Helene for sharing your delicious recipe. I really love to try that because when I was in Hong Kong on my holiday I use to eat that sampling and the sesame balls. It was very delicious.
The only think is I have not catches up all what you said and done.
You made it very beautifully . Both of them.
Kind regards to you,Helene.
Juvy
Great video Helen! Thanks :-)
This is criminally gooood, hmmm
Gym next day though.
Hi Helen! I watched many of your shows. thank u very much for the very informative and step by step recipes. I've been to vietnam twice and I may say the food is amazing. There's not much local choices in my country. I wanted to have my own vietnamese small restaurant here in the Philippines. lol. soon hopefully. nonetheless, if you come visit the Philippines, let me know and if I'm available, i will tour you around the metro. =))
+Aira Perez thank you ^_~
yay yay yay.
Thanks I love it..
Looks delicious!
Love this video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow Ngon qua.
these look amazing one of my friend's mom makes a great fried spring roll filling similar to this.
You mean egg roll? I don't believe you can fry spring rolls.. and a spring roll/egg rolls are two different food items. Yeah the dumplings pretty much are the same filling as the egg roll.
yeah it was probably an egg roll that I was going for. My friend's mom gets these really good wrappers that are very thin and she bakes them rather than frying them.
pickledshoe It's alright. A lot of people think spring rolls and egg rolls are the same thing.. sad.. they are very completely different. Some Americanized restaurants actually put spring rolls as one of their appetizer items on their menu but in reality it is an egg roll that they meant to put down.
NeonHao actually spring rolls can be fresh or fried. There are so many variations from many different cuisines. For instance, in Chinese cuisine it's a fried roll called "Spring Roll" commonly eaten during the Spring Festival. There are also fried and fresh Vietnamese rolls. Even egg rolls get complicated, because in various cultures it can mean something completely different. Chinese "egg rolls" are actually those sweet wafery rolls you can buy in tins. American Chinese egg rolls are thicker, savoury deep fried rolls often made with wheat flour. Those flaky Chinese spring roll pastry are often made with flour and water, whereas in other cuisine they could be made of rice paper. I think you could safely say if it has egg in the dough, it's a savoury egg-roll, but if it is simply a flour and water dough, it's probably a spring roll or maybe even something else.
Ginevra Peterson Also, just to add to your comment, rice wrappers are not dough-like fyi. It's actually the rice from the actual fields that they grind up and use it to make the rice wrappers hence "rice wrappers." I know this because my mother's grandmother worked in the rice fields and pretty much made her own rice wrappers. As for Chinese egg rolls, the wafers have nothing to do with the actual egg roll wrapper..wafers are made from flour while egg roll wrappers are not. I'm not sure who's telling you the ingredients to these products but you definitely have it wrong. They are called egg rolls because the wrappers you seal with egg yolk when sealing the roll.
Are you saving those scraps after using the cutter to clean up the edges or are those going to waste? Would you be able to reknead them to use?
I love 💗 all of them 😍😍😍😍💝💖❤️💕💗
These look so good! Any filling suggestions for vegetarians? I usually just substitute tofu for meat.
Yes, I would crumble fresh tofu to replace minced meat, too ^^
Helen ơi chị có thể hướng dẫn làm miến lươn trộn ko ạ?
They look great :)
Hi Helen or someone else...
can i use rice flour for the wrapper? and can i steam them instead of fry?
helen! i love that you put a little background history before presenting the recipe. and did you get a new camera? the quality and editing has gotten a lot better :D i just wanted to tell you to keep up the amazing work. your recipes have really inspired me to cook more vietnamese food. thank you helen!! p.s. you are so cute!! ^______^~~
Thank you Helen for the recipe.
What is the sauce ? Same for spring roll ?
Lovely and thank you :)
looks yummy. Helen, can i use the same filling to make fried spring roll?
sure!
Ummmmm delicious
Love it, will try it, I tried your caramelized shrimp and pork recipe and it was delicious, the next time I make it I will take photos or a short video. I took the shells off the shrimp because I was scared to eat them. Now with this recipe, I am definitely going to make it too, but is the quail egg necessary or can it be opted out?
quail egg is optional but it's really nice to have ^^
or you can replace it with normal eggs
Not only like it, I LOVE IT
good job, helen!
Yumm

Hi Helen! Thanks for sharing your recipes! I have a weird request! Is it possible to show the packaging of the ingredients in your videos? I always have a hard time at the Asian stores because most items are not written in English! It would be great to see the packaging so we know what to look for! Thank you!
To see the packaging of ingredients I use in my videos, check out "In Helen's pantry" section of this think danangcuisine.com/store/
