Yes "Close To The Edge" is considered by many to be the greatest prog album ever, and considered by many to be the greatest album...period...and I agree.
I knew she'd stop after hearing Eclipse. When I first heard that segment decades ago, it floored me... still might be one of the best few minutes of melody and atmosphere in modern music, IMHO
I'm delighted you went with this one Enny after Close to the Edge. You know you will hear different aspects to the music every time you hear it, it grows on you? I know the last song on the album Siberian Khatru is the logical next step but for you I would jump forward a few years to the album 'Going for The One' and react to 'Turn of The Century'. It's a love story of a Sculptor named Roan, who loves his wife so much. He is heartbroken when she dies, sculpts an image in her likeness and brings her to life again in his mind so that they can stay together. That's about as close as I can get I think 🤔 Anyway, just my two cents for your journey down the Yes rabbit hole 😊 I love to see someone experience Yes music for the very first time. Especially where they are so expressive in their experience of it. Keep it up this is brilliant 😊
Just knew you would like this one Enny. Their music is why they call themselves "Yes" rather than "No"! LOL! There's only one song left to go on this album and that's, "Siberian Khatru". Isn't it interesting this whole album has only three songs? Long ones, but three. The album you're doing here, 'Close To The Edge', is one of four very awesome, early studio works: The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge and Relayer, in order of their release. After Siberian Khatru, I suggest doing the first one and its first song "Your Is No Disgrace". By the time you get to the third song "Starship Trooper" you'll love that album too! ✌️😎
Hi Enny ! I love you discovery of YES ! the instrument you love in the beginning is 12 strings guitar and the little soli are synthetiser Moog ! ...follow you..
Yes makes very complex music. Not everyone likes that. Even better if you like it ;-) My first Yes album was (many, many, many years ago) the live album "Yessongs". Maybe it's because I always like the live versions of the songs (including "And You And I") better than the studio recordings. If you're listening to a song by Yes here again, you can try "Roundabout" from the album Yessongs. Not that old, but also nice is e.g. "Final Eyes" from the album Big Generator.
There are so many awesome songs by Yes that I would like to suggest you to get to know the band a little better. I'll limit myself to 4 songs that outline the versatility a bit. (from old to new) "Survival" (1969) from the album "Yes Album" or "Yesterdays", "Heart Of The Sunrise" (1971 / in the proposed version 1973) from the album "Yessongs", "Machine Messiah" (1980 ), from the album "Drama" and "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" (1983), from the album "90125". Of course there are also newer songs, but then the list gets too long ;-)
Yours is no disgrace, Starship trooper, I've seen all good people, Heart of the Sunrise...that's from 2 albums...Oh and what you just listened to, try side 1.
I think she was asking about the Minimoog solos. A monophonic synthesizer, rather than the polyphonic tape playback Mellotron. Mellotron, cool as it is, can't do the swoops and sweeps.
Yes was founded in 1968 and is still around today. (And You And I is from 1972) Why not listen to a song from them from 2019? "To The Moment" from the album "From A Page"
Good song, with Rick Wakeman's son Oliver on the keys. Even though it was released in 2019 it was actually recorded back in 2010, just prior to the "Fly From Here" album.
@@GeoffTrowbridge Thanks for the hint. I know the album "From A Page" is a collection of previously unreleased songs, but I didn't know when "To The Moment" was written.

This is peak Yes. The greatest moment of their greatest album.
If you love this song you should listen to Turn of the Century off the Going for the One Album! Another beautiful song by Yes!

This music is a pure escape, close your eyes so you can see.
The instrument you asked about is a very famous analog synth called a minimoog
definitely one of their best
Yes is another world of sound
9:19 "What is this particular instrument." I believe it's a Minimoog, a synthesizer. ♥️
That's why it's called a trip. Just close your eyes and stare with your ears. You ROCK!
So beautiful. Glad you have heard.
The perfect prog rock album, three songs that are just beyond belief.

How dare those long haired dope smoking hippies go into a recording studio and emerge as fantastical sublime wizards!
At th3 end you finally got it. 👍🏻❤️☮️🎼🎤🎹🎸

... another awesome album is between Close and Relayer, that's Tales From Topographic Oceans, one of the greatest !

Onward on Tormato is beatiful
Yeah, I've not seen anyone check that album out, I love it. My favorite is Circus of Heaven.
A Hymn for the Age of Aquarius we are now entering......
My favorite band. Thank you!!!
This is true listening music

Greatest song in my opinion. React to Sax And Violins by Talking Heads. I’ve never seen a reaction to that✌️
I think reading and trying to make since of the words takes away from the experience. Just set back and feel the flow of the song.

The Bible put to music 🎵
So good reactions,like and suscribe
saludos
You should finish this album. Siberian Khatru is also great.
Check out "Awaken". Try the live version: ua-cam.com/video/nDXccU0xgNo/v-deo.html
That sound is an organ.

Too bad music doesn't SOUND this good anymore... and Eddie Offord achieved it in 1972 on old, hissy magnetic tape!
My favourite album for nearly 50 years! The instrument you were puzzled by is the mellotron, played by Rick Wakeman.
I think she was asking about the Minimoog solos. A monophonic synthesizer, rather than the polyphonic tape playback Mellotron. Mellotron, cool as it is, can't do the swoops and sweeps.
