I love seeing people get Yes music. Your reaction is what I have every time I hear this song. And I've been listening to this song for 40 years. God bless you
I was fortunate enough to catch these guys live 1 month before I joined the Air Force in 1977. I started the bass guitar in 1972, five days after I hear the album "Fragile", because of Chris Squire's incredible performance. Chris was the last original member and passed in 2015. Rest in Peace, Gentlemen and thank you for the wonderful music!!
I had one of those heavenly moments while listening to this song, And You and I. It was a nice hot summer day on a beach in Malibu, California, sitting on the beach with the surf only several yards away. The sound of the surf with people having fun and the lovely scenery of the big rocks surrounding the beach was incredible. It's one of these moments one cherishes to fall back on when one needs something good to reflect on. This is why YES is a great band, timeless music for all generations.
One of the finest pieces of music you could ever listen to. I've done it many a Time because I am 72. I was at a concert in 1970 and they have been one of my favorites ever since
How great was this performance? So well deserving that a symphony backs up this amazing music. Another invitation to an explorative musical journey by YES. Thanks, Sarah. Your expression to this music is shared by the so many.
Seeing Yes, especially the first time in 1977 was the closest I have come to touching the world of the spirit while on this planet. So filled with joy to see your reaction to this! Thanks Sarah for sharing your journey with us. Hope this new year is filled with even more amazing musical discoveries for you! So glad you found this new rabbit hole! Nearly all of their songs are long, but it never FEELS long! I always say listening to Yes is like opening a present to find another and so on... Looking forward to watching more Yes with you!! Godspeed Chickie!
I've been listening to this for 50 years and it is ageless. Lovely to see your reaction to this, especially Steve Howe's slide guitar. I have seen them live which is no longer possible, sadly and it was magical. Thank heavens there is much available of their musical adventures.
Sarah I’m so glad you loved it. Sarah is a true Yesfan. I can tell. ❤ Oh, and. They were even better live. That’s the truly stunning part. They not only composed this work. They played it better right in front of your astonished face. ❤
Absolutely loved your reaction to this song. For those of us growing up with such creativity, we may get a little jaded with the beauty, but your frst time excitement was truly a joy to witness.
This has always been one of my favorite Yes songs. I was lucky enough to see Yes live in 1977, and this song was part of their playlist. It's nice how Jon Anderson is continuing to do Yes material with shows like this Symphonic Live.
You are the best Sarah...thanks. To see you enjoying this beauty is the greatest reward throu music. Thank you for your endless humanity. Bless your mother
The most amazing band with the very best group of genial musicians ever!!!! After the Beatles as without them perhaps there wouldn't be YES or any other band for that matter!!! Not as we know them all today
Nice to see you getting back to YES Sarah! This is one of the greatest songs ever written by the greatest band there ever was or ever will ever be! Nobody does it better live or in the studio then these masters of music!🤩
So good to see you love this music as much as I do.... Beautiful reaction, Sarah! By the way, as you mentioned Jon Anderson's speaking voice: his voice is in a natural high register. So he doesn't sing falsetto (like the Bee Gees would have done) but with his natural range! 🙂
It was a true blessing to watch all the beautiful moments in this timeless piece wash over you the way it does me. A masterpiece. Great and honest reaction.
As good as any music ever needs to be. Yes and their music are simply transportation vehicles to your soul. Your mind gets cleared of all distractions as you journey with these aliens on earth, IMMACULATE.
Wow what a gorgeous reaction Sarah, it's such a pleasure to have travelled with you on this most magnificent of Yes live journeys. This was a very special tour with the European Festival Orchestra beautifully recorded on the "Symphonic Live" DVD, showcasing the "Magnification" album their 2nd & final album with orchestra & sadly their final album with the extraordinary, irriplaceable Jon Anderson as well as many other Yes classics. The concert opens with "Close to the Edge" to a standing ovation, it is an absolutely phenomenal performance that I highly recommend you also check out. They also do an incredible version of "The gates of Dilerium" the final "Soon" section is beautiful beyond words. Best wishes
I am very excited to see your reaction. For me this song means a lot. I see how it reaches you and it is very beautiful. thank you. I shed many tears. and you and I for me my means pure love as a unity that nothing can separate
I was 17, when this album came out. I think I was overwhelmed by "And You And I". It was the third time I head it that I wept openly. I've never seen this live performance of this song; thanks so much for sharing it, and for sharing your honest emotions...oh, in case nobody's told you: that guitar-thingy played horizontally, that Steve Howe is playing, is called a dobro, and it's almost exclusively used in Country music! I've never heard it used this way, but that's Steve Howe: innovative guitarist. You're right, too; Jon Anderson *is* THE VOICE.
My favorite by YES with the spiritual and romantic feeling it embellishes me with. I remember closing my eyes back in my preteen and teenage years letting my imagination be carried away with this magical masterpiece!
The hope and the sadness of all aspiring angels, awakening into this mortal life... The mountains and valleys, we walk the long road... We see the awesomeness of our God, our loving creator, who explains the wonders of all creations, the scenery along the way... We soon feel what we now miss, being away from what we once knew... Always hopeful, sharing goodwill, always willing to share what we love, giving it away as we have received... Love touches us here in this life, a kind friend giving us what we give to others, why so difficult to accept such a gift... Humble and never wanting to burden another, do we politely decline their gift, not wanting to give what little they may have and let them go without... We struggle in conflict in the moment and realize, the warmth we feel as we give unto others, as they too struggle to accept a gift of love... We let down our gates that protect our spirit, smiling we accept their gift, realizing, after all this time we we were not the only giver in the moment, but in the willful acceptance of the receiver in allowing us to share what we loved so much. Their gift unto us, letting our love flow with loving acceptance, though they did not want us to go without what we were giving loved so much and so gracefully desiring for us to enjoy... The beauty of the benevolence of our Creator, we now understand we too are deserving of the love from others as we give so willingly... And why so willingly do aspiring angels share from the pure spirit of love, is it because as we have walked the long road and rarely experience what is so pure, the spirit of love that inspired all life, are we alone in the knowing... We speak to our creator every day as we walk, keeping our hearts warm, new patience each day, gaining knowledge and wisdom from other aspiring angels that we so rarely meet along the long road... Unknowingly transferring knowledge to each as our creator has planned, unknown to us yet, until a day comes the moment of its purpose, we marvel in knowing we had been prepared yet again, we are not alone or without purpose, elated to be a child of the spirit of love... We fulfill another much needed part in the will of our creator, another step towards eternity, we remember from where we came... With age we begin to long for a mortal companion to hold and to share the wonders we have witnessed and received... is it in our journey for us to hold, for us to experience the creating of a new life... longing for the fulfillment of our own family, our hearts protected having been broken more than once... We continue not expecting such a beautiful gift, never wanting to be disappointed for it may not be for us in our part in this time... We look out from the vistas in awesome wonder, and imagine if we do have a soul mate ahead.for us on the long road, and feel the love flowing between us so strong... We thank our creator for the gifts we have already received in each we alluded dangers from his whisper of alarm and the way to exit and not falling prey, and in every revealing of the beauty of life, that allows us to see through the evil that taints the view of those not knowing... It is the knowing we must share to those who have not yet remembered, or who were too distracted to listen to our spirit after entering this world... Aspiring Angels, We are not Alone, our part is ongoing and we will all share in the Glory with our creator, and create things unkown that elate every spirit as we all behold its wonder... Having given my all with loving passion in all that I do, I once held that gift of family I so dreamed of and desired... Created four new lives, my heart filled with love, if only she was my soul mate, I so wanted her to be, I would still hold the gift given in such loving grace from above... I do keep the gift in eternity in the memories of my life, to visit when I long for the love, so content and I so thankful for each day... So as I find myself getting nearer the greatest part in my purpose, the inflow of knowledge and revelation are now filling each day and into the night, I knew from the beginning a day just may come, for it is why all the preparations and long lonely times in between, it is in the air all around us but do not be afraid, for there is no power stronger the unity of benevolent love, as our spirits will come together upwelling the pureness of the love of our Creator, and together send our waves of pure love that reach the spectrum of the brightest pure light, of which no evil can ever survive, the frequency resonent we cleanse our world, and begin to live lives intended in the beginning... Angels at last... Tears flow from both sorrow and happiness combined, as I sing along to this song, Yes, tis for you and I God Bless all aspiring angels may you meet your soul mate, no matter how long or brief it may be, and keep it in your eternity of sweet memory Love you all
Yes is pure magic. Nothing like them. The singer Jon Anderson isn't with Yes any more but he he still performs a lot of Yes music with various bands and makes a lot of new solo music. He is supposed to be touring again with The Band Geeks again this year, doing all Yes and maybe Jon Anderson solo stuff, you should go see them for sure. The official Yes band has a different singer now, but they still tour a lot. 2 of the main Yes members have died, but the guitarist in this video leads the band and is still amazing. Check out Jons solo stuff, maybe start with Song Of Seven. Anything from the Yes Going For The One album is also a great next step, like Awaken and Turn Of The Century.
From this same tour you will also love Roundabout, where the ladies of the orchestra get on stage and dance with them. I saw this same tour, but at a most auspicious time and place, as it was NYC a few nights before 9/11. Their positive energy helped strengthen our soul for the coming days and weeks. Your beautiful reaction gives me hope for the world. You will also love the various Awakens.
I wish you could have been there, Sarah. I saw YES twice in fhe mid-70s. Mindblowing. The first time I took a girl in high school. She fell askeep at the YES concert. I never called her again. 😄 I really enjoyed your reaction. So glad you got to see them do a live song.
in seeing this reaction it brings me back to this tour , Like most of the tours this one was very magical.. The orchestra adds so much to the already great songs. BRAVO Sarah
Great performance great reaction A+ Don’t hate me, please, I was born at the right time I’ve seen so many fantastic bands. All the while I was watching this I was endeavoring to remember when and where….at the moment I cannot… I wish you’d lived through this too…your joy would have been multiplied and multiplied Peace
I LOVE THAT YOU LOVE YES so much! FEEL IT DEEP WITHIN!!!! because only this YES can do IT. I STILL CRY every time and I've seen them in the 70s' and at this incredible tour as well where I was embarrassingly SOBBING. LOL!
I have the same upwelling of elation in the longing and finally merging, laced with the sorrow of so many years gone by, seemingly such a loss of precious moments, and of memories once achieved, now snapshots in our eternity.
Wow! You had the best reaction. This really filled your soul and sent your spirit soaring. What a wonderful experience. I always prefer watching and listening to the live performances. Please do more.
I'm still wishing and hoping that Jon will consider a trip to Australia soon and with any good group of musicians who can play Yes faithfully it will be as Yes. Jon is the voice and heart of Yes and when he sings he creates the spirit of the band.
IT'S HEARTWARMING AND SO SATISFYING TO SEE YOU'RE EMOTIONAL REACTION TO A BAND I LOVE AND CHERISH. I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU LISTEN TO MORE YES MUSIC. LISTEN TO YESTERDAYS, THE YES ALBUM, THEN CLOSE TO THE EDGE.
If you have the time check out Yes - Awaken - Live in Birmingham 2003.I think this is a masterpiece. It is a long song but it i just class and i know you will get it.Thank you and stay safe. And it is a Lap Steel Guitar. Unfortunately two of the band have passed away. Squire (the last original member) died in 2015, and White died in 2022.Thank you young lady.
Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, MoodyBlues, The Who, Tull. YES took me to places these groups tried to. All had great ballads. Yes was different, magical, music from another stratosphere inspired by heavenly beings. Okay maybe I overdid it here but it was my feelings in the 70s
Listening to YES from since 1969 when I was 17....they are without doubt the greatest band ever apart from the Beatles and without The Beatles theres no YES....Seen them 40 odd times since 1969...incidentally the first time we saw them it was a free concert at a Summer Fayre ❤
Jon Anderson's unique voice makes the music of Yes so memorable. I have several of their albums & enjoy them all. Great to see you enjoying them too. I hope the emotional value was not too much, but you are right people need tunes like this. . Please try "Going for The One", "Don't Kill the Whale" or "Awaken".
It was great to see your appreciation for this excellent band.If you do look at Yes - Awaken - Live in Birmingham 2003. You will see the magician of keyboads Rick Wakeman .Richard Christopher Wakeman CBE is an English keyboardist and composer best known as a former member of the progressive rock band Yes across five tenures between 1971 and 2004, and for his solo albums released in the 1971.The lap steel guitar, also known as a Hawaiian guitar, is a type of steel guitar without pedals that is typically played with the instrument in a horizontal position across the performer's lap. Unlike the usual manner of playing a traditional acoustic guitar, in which the performer's fingertips press the strings against frets, the pitch of a steel guitar is changed by pressing a polished steel bar against plucked strings (from which the name "steel guitar" derives). Though the instrument does not have frets, it displays markers that resemble them. Lap steels may differ markedly from one another in external appearance, depending on whether they are acoustic or electric, but in either case, do not have pedals, distinguishing them from pedal steel guitars. You can put them on a stand like Yes did.And they two in one.Thank you young lady.
Hey Sarah, I haven't been keeping up like I used to. It's always fun to share a favorite with a friend. This a fantastic reaction which I loved sharing❤
I grew up during that time and it was magic. Individualism was celebrated and encouraged even if the establishment didn't notice. After all it was also the time of the Vietnam war. Each band was different and wonderful in their own right. I travelled during that time and it was wonderful to grow up then. Yes certainly was a special band.
...what can I say, Sarah... their live triple album 'Yessongs' from 1973 is one of the best I ever heard, hands down, of any group (this song is also on there) recommendations of that live album?? - anything, really!! They are not of this world... 💖
Your reaction to YES confirms that Jon's vision was achievable and that he has known exactly what he was trying to do all along. I highly recommend his first solo album 'Olias of Sunhillow' if you are moved by the positive uplifting quality of YES, Jon Anderson's masterpiece released in 1976 is the most genuinly healing music I have ever heard, stunning from beginning to end.
I’ve been listening to them for 54 years. Awesome
YES. The best music on Earth...ever.
My " stranded on a desert island with only one band to listen to" band.
@@JaneWalters-ni7se The only wise choice. :)
That’s the voice…of heaven.
Having seen YES live 49 times.......it's a different world. A YES World. Best band, ever. Period.
49 times? Were you a roadie?
@tonystephens6858 ...no
, just saw them multiple times for numerous tours.
Jon put my name on your the back of his 1,000 Hands album as a Contributor. Thanks Jon.
"Nothing beats this." 100% agreement. My favorite love song, *period* .
Try Genesis - suppers ready. It's long but considered the best progressive rock song ever.
He is still out there doing his thing. Still sounds great. I can't imagine anyone else singing a Yes song!
Thank you Sarah, you brought tears of joy.
Ladies and gentlemen YES the greatest show on earth. 🙏🍁
Yes. She did.❤
1970’s Yes were incredible.

Had the good fortune to see Yes live. They sounded exactly as my vinyl, not a note out of place. Brilliant musicians
I love seeing people get Yes music. Your reaction is what I have every time I hear this song. And I've been listening to this song for 40 years. God bless you
I must say it was delightful watching you hear this music that I've loved for decades.

Beautiful reaction video, had me tearing up, I was actually there at this concert, pure magic.
I loved this band the moment I first heard them as a teen in the early 70s. They are, and will remain my favorite band.
How great was this performance? So well deserving that a symphony backs up this amazing music. Another invitation to an explorative musical journey by YES. Thanks, Sarah. Your expression to this music is shared by the so many.

The hope and the sadness of all aspiring angels, awakening into this mortal life...
The mountains and valleys, we walk the long road...
We see the awesomeness of our God, our loving creator, who explains the wonders of all creations, the scenery along the way...

The beauty of the benevolence of our Creator, we now understand we too are deserving of the love from others as we give so willingly...
And why so willingly do aspiring angels share from the pure spirit of love, is it because as we have walked the long road and rarely experience what is so pure, the spirit of love that inspired all life, are we alone in the knowing...

in seeing this reaction it brings me back to this tour , Like most of the tours this one was very magical.. The orchestra adds so much to the already great songs. BRAVO Sarah
Yes's finest hour... thank you for presenting this.
Great performance great reaction A+ Don’t hate me, please, I was born at the right time I’ve seen so many fantastic bands. All the while I was watching this I was endeavoring to remember when and where….at the moment I cannot…
I wish you’d lived through this too…your joy would have been multiplied and multiplied Peace
I have to get a box of tissues when I listen to this song, every freaking time
I love your reactions. New fan here. I will subscribe to your channel. Thanks for some great music from when I was young.
Thanks James
@@SarahDengler you are most welcome pretty lady 👍🙂
Excellent song, great live version!!!!
Beauty. Glory. Life! Joy. YES. ❤
I love this reaction. Yes is so positive, so emotional and you capture that perfectly. 😍
I think you are such a beautiful person and I just adore your reactions you are a breath of fresh air and your honest reaction is so natural ❤❤
multiple eargasms
I'm still wishing and hoping that Jon will consider a trip to Australia soon and with any good group of musicians who can play Yes faithfully it will be as Yes. Jon is the voice and heart of Yes and when he sings he creates the spirit of the band.
Such a great song from a great band
That’s sad to hear 😥
After years of Loving The Gates of Delerium, I think Awaken has overtaken it as my favorite.
Masterful! Beautiful! Loved this. Priceless reaction dear Sarah. 😊
A similar reaction to many of us who love this band.
Turn of the century will make you really cry, Awaken is a classic, Starship Trooper live in Lugano, the list goes on
Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, MoodyBlues, The Who, Tull.
Thank you Yes......your music and Jon,s voice transport me.
I L.U.V. seeing what looks like pure joy in your reaction and appreciation of this wonderful piece of music. Don't ever change, Sarah.
Thanks. The better song ever.
Yeah, I’m tearing up too as the power of the music and sincerity of the vocal emotion soars
Beautiful reaction Sarah. You’re one of us now and there’s no turning back. 😉✨
One of the best things about Yes is that their live music sounds better than their recordings. A tribute to their immense talent.
Yes is one great band with their own style
This tune always makes me cry.
Long time fan. Love the early studio albums but I think this is one of best they made.
Ok. I cried, again. Your beautiful soul loves my favorite band. ☮️❤️
You can put them on a stand like Yes did.And they two in one.Thank you young lady.
fantastic reaction. It's a very emotional song, and it shows
YES…you have arrived!!
Hey Sarah, I haven't been keeping up like I used to. It's always fun to share a favorite with a friend. This a fantastic reaction which I loved sharing❤
Good music brings emotional reaction
I grew up during that time and it was magic. Individualism was celebrated and encouraged even if the establishment didn't notice. After all it was also the time of the Vietnam war. Each band was different and wonderful in their own right. I travelled during that time and it was wonderful to grow up then. Yes certainly was a special band.
Epic epic epic ..love love love ❤
It’s funny to hear Jon say «I couldn’t think of any more words»… I bet he could
5:26....It is called a pedal steel . God Bless You !!
...what can I say, Sarah... their live triple album 'Yessongs' from 1973 is one of the best I ever heard, hands down, of any group (this song is also on there) recommendations of that live album?? - anything, really!! They are not of this world... 💖
Your reaction to YES confirms that Jon's vision was achievable and that he has known exactly what he was trying to do all along. I highly recommend his first solo album 'Olias of Sunhillow' if you are moved by the positive uplifting quality of YES, Jon Anderson's masterpiece released in 1976 is the most genuinly healing music I have ever heard, stunning from beginning to end.
Symphonic by Yes is fantastic
