Pentatonix recently did a cover of BLINDING LIGHTS. They did it during quarantine with each member recording their part at home and then it was edited together. Also, they were in one of the Pitch Perfect movies.

They are amazing 🔥🔥🔥 they are purely acapella. Every song they do, they make the instruments with their voices. It's unbelievable - and they can do it live to😊 their versions of halleluja, Bohemian Rhapsody and sound of silence are fire🔥 their Daft punk cover won them a grammy and proved just what they are able to do with their voices , and it is ONLY their voices - no instruments... amazing!

That's Mitch with the high voice, he's an actual counter tenor, the highest male voice & the bearded deep voiced guy is Avi. (He left in 2017, for personal reasons, & helped find his replacement Matt who you will see in their newer vids.) He's actually a basso profundo, the deepest voice, & at one point even considered going into opera. He has the 2nd biggest vocal range because he can go pretty high considering how low he goes, deep enough he blows out speakers regularly. A bit of trivia I heard about him was that when his voice changed when young, it was so deep & vibrating that many people said they couldn't understand him anymore, so he had to re-teach himself to speak higher. 😯
The beatboxer Kevin is a tenor (also plays the most instruments), & Scott (the tall blonde) is listed as barritone, but he actually has the biggest vocal range because he can falsetto the highest notes to match Kirstie & Mitch, like Kevin can, but also go deep enough to cover as bass when the bass is singing lead.
All of them have solo stuff & various collabs. Mitch & Scott also have a side group called Superfruit, that's not a cappella. They have a bunch of fun stuff on their youtube page, sharing stuff about themselves, doing fun stuff with friends, covering favorite stuff from hip hop, musicals, & more, plus they have a whole album of original songs based on their romantic lives so far, including when they dated each other in high school.
[Actually both guys also dated Kirstie, the girl in the group, in their early teens before coming out. Now they're all super close friends, with Mitch & Scott calling themselves soul-mate BFFs. I feel bad for all their SO's current & past. It must be hard not to be jealous watching them have such good & close relationships with their exes. Fans often ship Scott & Mitch, wanting them to get back together.]

They all have extensive ranges - Mitch often sings in his lower register and either Kirstie or Scott (Blonde) take over the higher - the beatboxer is also a tenor... so all round every range is pretty much covered . Avi for Newbies
Yes Avi left in September of 2017 after being one of the founding members and vocal bass since 2011. He is in 250 or so songs though so you won't loose track of him any time soon. Deep voice and all. Story and his video of when he announced he was leaving follows more video links etc at the end to current Avi projects and current hair and beard length follow. 🙂

Quick background summary on Avi Kaplan to save time - he is going to be in alot of the videos you see for Pentatonix as a founding member who was there for 6 years including all of their 3 grammies. It may also be helpful for Pentatonix fans who have not kept track of him since he left the band.
Avi like Kevin had quite a bit of musical background when he joined the band. He is a classically trained bass singer, song writer and musician. He specialized in opera and choral directing. He was a member of Mt. SAC’s Singcopation champions which captured best jazz distinction at the 2010 Monterey Jazz Festival and eight Downbeat best collegiate jazz vocal group awards; Fermata Nowhere’s winning the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in 2009; and the Chamber Singers and Singcopation’s clean sweep and Grand Prix Award at the American International Choral Festival in 2011 and caused the ICCA to change the name of their award from beatboxing to rythmn section to give it to him for what he did and what he does with Kevin in Pentatonix. He also sang jazz, choral and opera and did announcer gigs. He plays primarily the stringed instruments guitar and banjitar also harmonica and some piano. His personal musical preference is bluegrass and folk.

He took a year off after leaving Pentatonix and spent the next year writing music.
Change on the Rise, his first big solo release 7.4 million views last time I looked, has been picked up among other uses as the theme music for the weekly Apple podcast Relative Unknown. He sings really low bass notes in the music for Bladerunner 2049 and was touring the USA and internationally with his own music before the pandemic sent everyone home.
I almost left out the A Cappella Academy that he runs with 2 co-founders Ben Brahm and Rob Dietz every summer for 13-18 year olds and runs fund raisers for that and visits colleges and helps with their choral arrangements since 2014. Mind you this is his idea of the slowed down schedule that he wanted after leaving Pentatonix in September 2017🙂

Billboard’s Alternative New Artist Albums Sales chart at #2 and its Top New Artist Albums Sales chart at #3. In addition, the 7-track set landed at #6 on the Americana/Folk chart, #13 on the Current Alternative Albums chart and #16 on the Current Rock Albums chart. His label is Fantasy Records who have artists like Paul Simon, James Taylor and Tanya Tucker. His touring was canceled like everything else this year due to COVID-19.
So Avi is fine. He has ditched the beanies and wears his hair and beard long having moved from L.A. to Nashville to a large property with a cabin in the woods near his sister Esther and her husband and just became an uncle for the first time in the spring.
