I decided to get one of these based on a number of positive reviews. I got it today and I have to say I'm pretty freaking amazed! I own a Skytrack+ but to use it I have to go to my buddies golf sim in his garage across town. With Phigolf I played in my living room. My review: 1) Skytrack+ MLM and others need to take a lesson from Phigolf on how easy it should be to connect your device. Dirt simple and it just works. 2) This is certainly not going to be an exacting sim giving you exacting numbers. But it did read my distances quite well and it caught open/closed faces and showed reasonable ball flights. 3) Like any sim I probably played better on it than I would on a real course. I mean I shot +5 on Torrey Pines. Hardly likely. I would probably be about +13, depending upon if the course was tournament or regular. But it read a lot of what I did quite right. 4) More than anything it got me swinging a club on a cold winter day. So swing movement, body movement. All good I think I can't, so far, say anything negative about this little sim.
It seems to be accurate for really good golfers. I have a 75mph swing and get 25% longer than I really get. I contacted support and they said they made it that way so everyone can compete. Second the club is not aimed by the sensor. It’s aimed by the marks on the club. I still like it because it’s fun and keeps my 80 yr old body muscles in better shape during the winter in NYS USA. Comments?
Im recovering from three separate back fusions from my golf life haven’t swung club in 3 years. Just been giving free lessons to my mom and her senior friends. I’ve been slowly using this for myself. For what it is accuracy is amazing plus lots of fun feels like a golf simulator. I can also put sensor in peoples clubs I’m giving lessons to I get instant feedback I can show them. Is it trackman no but for your everyday average golfer it is a legitimate training tool. Putting can be difficult but I expected that. On legit simulators putting is a challenge. I couldn’t recommend this enough it takes up no room and your non golfing buddies will love it more than your golfing friends. Highly recommend this stupid thing. I thought for sure it’s a stupid gimmick but it’s not.
Because of size, simplicity, and fun factor for me and the entire family with some surprising data, I'm immediately interested. I doubt it would significantly translate to on course improvement, but to walk to the den, and swing something with feedback like it gives seems like a win.
Hey David, from what I would say humbly being in the top 10 golfers on phi as far as I can tell, spot on. The game is obsessive and extremely accurate, especially for seasoned golfers, looking forward to seeing you in the tournaments. Great birdie on 3 at Pebble hitting in the circle, not easy to do..........at all. Happy holidays to you and yours, take care.
Not sure what you mean about the refresh rate but the reason why I overlayed the screen recording is because with the TV it didn’t come through clearly so I just put the screen recording over it so people can see
@@davidmaxfieldgolf with the refresh rate of the TV being lower than what the camera was recording at, it caused the screen to not be visible on camera.
The graphics are comparable to Links 2k3 creators. I hadn't played in golf in real life since 1976 or so and then only pitch and putt. I got back into it this year when my girlfriend told me to buy something I really wanted for my birthday, so I got a putter; then a 64, then a 52. This looks great, and since I've never played a real course, it looks like great training.
Got the first gen and my recommendation would be to leave the sensor aligned and turn the whole club when aiming (unless the 2nd gen has an alignment grip that is not symmetrical). Besides that, get used to „lift“ the Clubhead when you are not addressing the ball (like up to the ceiling). That way no unintended setup is detected and it gets part of your setup routine to then lower it to the virtual ball when you are ready.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Great observations by len, for me with my draw swing, I tend to aim a little right on the longer shots. Agreed, in between shots or putts, club changes, point the club up always to avoid accidentally hitting the ball before ready. Also, I have had, on occasion whiffed the ball while attempting to putt. One must always be aware to keep a proper stroke every single putt. You can also putt from the fringe changing the SW to a putter, took a few months for me to learn that one. Bottom line, tough game, but awesome to play. Take care.
Hey David. just a note for ya mate , when you click the sensor to ajust the aim you don't need to move the sensor itself you just rotate the club and it will move you're aim point
Wow, I didn't see that coming! Definitely surprised. Could you do us one small favor and try to intentionally mishit, go out to in, etc to see if it picks it up? Thanks for your review!
caught my eye on this as I live in MI and its about ti get COLD! Good video. I have a suggestion. Instead of being all focused on distance, tell us how it responds to overly closing club face or forcing an open face....do some things that would expect a bad shot and see if it still just flies up the middle.... i noticed fades and some draws but what is your normal ball shape? some of that has me curious since the sensor is in the grip you would think it could capture the rotation of the shafte very easily....
This isn’t new. I’ve owned it for almost a year. I use it with E6, & it’s fun & useful for basic swing training. I use it with Rokid Max & Xreal Air AR glasses, casted via AirPlay from my iPad or iPhone. The E6 subscription is $80USD/year. It always assumes optimal club head-to-face alignment. This would be perfect as I don’t have the space to hit a golf ball but have the space for a full golf swing. How does it compare when using proper clubs to a proper sim where you hit a ball. Does the club path, ball speed data etc all match up pretty well? Club path and attack angle is what I need to work on would it help?
I can't figure out how to get the face angle right on the swing trainer club. As soon as I pop the sensor on a real club, there are no issues with accuracy. With the swing trainer club I can only seem to hook the ball like crazy. Thinking of returning for that reason.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf I just got aphigolf2 today. Using it an apple iPhone 11. Trying to set out up and load courses but the software is not optimized for iPhone 11. The image extends past the borders making it impossible to see the info and select the correct item. Anyone have a solution?
Can I attach the sensor to the end of my real clubs and swing them instead? If you have the room and swing your club will the data be accurate? If so then this will be a perfect replacement for a simulator.
Just curious of the weight. Is it pretty close to a real clubweight? The golf club attachment for GOLF+ (VR) is really light and after playing that for an hour or so, makes your real clubs feel like they weigh 10lbs each.
I understand how it can estimate a ball flight based on the swing speed and swing path and face angle, but how does it figure out the impact point? How does it know which swings would be thin or fat?
This is so cool! Thanks for the review Dave. I was looking at this a while ago for me and my son, plus friends and family when they pop round. It does look good, and glad to hear you say it is accurate 👍

Graphics blow rapsodo and garmin away. Definitely a fun device to play some golf at home. It would be nice to see some shot shaping and put the sensor on the end of a club and hit some real balls against some other launch monitors.
Next comment. I bought the WHT model for $250 and can play like 38000 courses. This incl my home courses and my brothers in GA and whatever course the PGA or LPGA are playing each week.
@@davidmaxfieldgolf it’s certainly lacks stuff but it meets my needs and budget and it’s lots of fun. We currently have 6’ of snow the last 4 days and I’m really liking this to run away to
Buy a Quest 3 with Golf+. If that's too much money, buy a Quest 2 with one. Way better than this and very accurate as well since the new physics 2.0 version.
Had the phigolf 1 and one day after not too much use it just stopped working, tried contacting their support and that was worthless, so buyer beware the quality of the dongle was trash as well as the support of the product.
So what are you staring on the ground? Hmm...i am afraid this sim..may mess up my real game...what i like about this thingnis..you can attch it to your real club for the feel of it.
I don’t get it…What are you practicing with that? You don’t have the same weight in your hands like you have it with your real clubs. You don’t have ground contact. So your back will move way more down in the down swing. You don’t have a ball contact. No club face direction. So you don’t feel how to grip it. It looks to me like someone never playing Golf invented some electronic game stuff. I would totally not recommend to practice with this device. Better buy a hitting mat and practice swings and ground contacts without a ball but with your real clubs.
It supposed to be for fun and a golf sim that you can use in your home with low ceilings, not only that, if you want to put the sensor in your own clubs and hit balls, you can do that also
Sorry David I disagree completely its not good for your future development at all, miles longer than my drives pretty close with shorter irons, everything massive slice which I don't do at all any more but the biggest pile of poo on top of the dung pile is the putting part of the app it goes longer than my drives it's very poor. My only resolution is that you must be a very good player for it to be accurate enough I've had it a day its already on its way back very disappointed pal
Sorry to hear that mate. The slice will happen if the alignment isn’t correct. So the arrow in the top needs to be aligned because that’s what it’s basing the face to path off. In the next video I’ll have it up against a Skytrak and we will see the accuracy 😁
This is absolute junk. I bought one just to have a driving range experience. Even when I purposely tried pull hooks, the Sim registered slices. The putting lengths were way off too. Trying a 2 foot putt showed the ball rolling 15 feet or more. What a waste of $250.
@@JeffPassageCPA the sensor relies on club path so in the downswing if you’re coming a little over the top it will register a slice even if in real life you close the face to hit a slight fade
@davidmaxfieldgolf I tried every possible swing path and it always registered a slice. I just want people to know it's not the perfect product for indoor golf training.

I had a mini heart attack and panick cancelled my order because I can't find anything but people having issues finding a lefty option. Can you confirm or will you be doing other videos exploring the different modes and features?
Hey Neil, were they using the PhiGolf2 ? It’s different than the original from a couple years ago
@@davidmaxfieldgolf ya thats what I was looking at. Just can't find a menu option for lefties. Was really looking forward to trying it but $399CDN is more than I'm willing to gamble with
@@neiljudge5125 let me see what I can find out for you. I’m sure they have the option to switch it to lefties
@@davidmaxfieldgolf ur a gem
@@davidmaxfieldgolf Tech support says that it should auto detect a left hand player. Curious if that needs to be done in the tutorial section where it has you swing that crude little 3D avatar
I’m curious how it is with your own clubs
That test is coming up 😁
This assume you make a perfect hit for each swing.
Checkout my reviews with it against GC3
why is the screen superimposed?
To make it easier to see on camera without a flicker
thank you sir! pretty cool!@@davidmaxfieldgolf
Graphics blow rapsodo and garmin away. Definitely a fun device to play some golf at home. It would be nice to see some shot shaping and put the sensor on the end of a club and hit some real balls against some other launch monitors.
Yes agree would love to do that with an actual club and see what a launch monitor says with a side by side comparison
Next comment. I bought the WHT model for $250 and can play like 38000 courses. This incl my home courses and my brothers in GA and whatever course the PGA or LPGA are playing each week.
That’s awesome! 👏 you must love that
@@davidmaxfieldgolf it’s certainly lacks stuff but it meets my needs and budget and it’s lots of fun. We currently have 6’ of snow the last 4 days and I’m really liking this to run away to
Even with the short club i can only swing it fully in my garage.
You must have low ceilings ?
@ I’m 6’4
I like phigolf.
It’s great 👍🏼
Does this require a subscription?
Nope but there are subscription offers for third party software as well like e6 and WGT golf
Could this detect a slice?
It does relative to clubface so if you open it up then yes
Buy a Quest 3 with Golf+. If that's too much money, buy a Quest 2 with one. Way better than this and very accurate as well since the new physics 2.0 version.
Will try check them out.
Does it work with a golf club? Useless otherwise.
Yes it does
Way too many reviews saying the product broke, or wouldn't charge, etc etc and the company didn't give a satisfactory response.
Mine is still working perfectly
So it "works" with a normal club according to the website. But $500? No......
I have the Manley Assisted Golf Aid... $100
This also connects to e6 and WGT golf
Using earphones and omsound only comes out from left side. Fix ur videos
It this one video and an editing mistake
I wish it had a molded grip trainer for proper hand positioning
You could simply clip one on
Gotta be honest, I thought you were going to smash the TV every swing.
@@mdstrobe 😂😂
Will it work for left hand golfers and could it be put into yards and feet?
Also do the golf course simulation and swing analysis come with it free?
Answer is Yes to all of those 😁👍🏼
Couldn’t hear any audio.
Sorry it’s panned to the left ear. Editing mistake.
Thanks, that's what I get for only listening with one earbud.
@@MG-th9sl I should have clicked “duel mono” my bad
Had the phigolf 1 and one day after not too much use it just stopped working, tried contacting their support and that was worthless, so buyer beware the quality of the dongle was trash as well as the support of the product.
Sorry to hear that, I haven’t had that experience but sorry to hear you have
....lil bit of a dip there bud
Yeah I’ve got a terrible dip in my swing. Been trying to get rid of it for ages
Some constructive criticism - please center your audio channels! Your voice is left channel only, and your sfx are stereo. hard to listen to.
Yes was an editing mistake. Doesn’t normally happen
So what are you staring on the ground? Hmm...i am afraid this sim..may mess up my real game...what i like about this thingnis..you can attch it to your real club for the feel of it.
Just put the sensor in your real club and use it 😁
Is it just me or is your volume muted
The audio unfortunately went to the left ear. My mistake. Will fix on the next one
How many fail video's will we see when people lose the club into the tv?
Haha hopefully the wrist strap stops that
@davidmaxfieldgolf OH it has one, I didn't see it. 👍
@@Kenny_Mars all good 😊
I don’t get it…What are you practicing with that? You don’t have the same weight in your hands like you have it with your real clubs. You don’t have ground contact. So your back will move way more down in the down swing. You don’t have a ball contact. No club face direction. So you don’t feel how to grip it. It looks to me like someone never playing Golf invented some electronic game stuff. I would totally not recommend to practice with this device. Better buy a hitting mat and practice swings and ground contacts without a ball but with your real clubs.
It supposed to be for fun and a golf sim that you can use in your home with low ceilings, not only that, if you want to put the sensor in your own clubs and hit balls, you can do that also
Wii Golf anyone?
Better than that
WiGolf
Haven’t tried that one yet
I’ve found mine perfect. You do have to make sure the sensor is aligned otherwise you’ll get those slices
@davidmaxfieldgolf I did everything with the sensor to prevent registering nothing but slices. Never worked. Glad it works for you. I felt cheated.
@@JeffPassageCPA thanks for your feedback. Was this the PhiGolf2 or the original PhiGolf?
Try hitting a bad shot.
Watch the latest video 😁
Wow way to long over repeats himself got real bored listening to him say the same thing over and over
Feel free to watch other reviews 👍🏼
