medieval is one of the reasons I love legos and I love watching your videos about your medieval story because its kinda what I want to do eventually anyway thanks man
I have started making Medieval MOCs recently, and I did build a ruined castle...with my three new DnD dragon knights. I'm actually building a fantasy Robin Hood-style world, with the Sheriff of Nottingham, a few forestsmen (including Robin), and the town guard, which use the blue dragon shield. I also figured out a technique to implant round shields flush against the wall--which I totally got the idea from you always implanting kite shields into things. Keep up the good work!
Would be cool if one of their bases had the skeleton of a dragon, as if they found it in the middle of the forest and interpreted as a sign, and built a camp or base.
I really like your point about them viewing their banditry as more about revenge than just gold. While the Wolfpack may just be looking to make a quick buck, I think it's neat to have a more 'principled' band of bandits and mercenaries who are continuing on a fight long lost, almost viewing themselves more like Robin Hood's merry men or the Gold Company from Game of Thrones. Or at least that's what they claim as they keep filling their own pockets with spoils.
I love what you did with these figs. You can have elite units (the former knights with shields and armor + tabards) and the less elite units / civilian rebels / resistance fighters using the new torsos. I don't like the antler cowl too much on the archers (antlers are not exactly dragon like things - unless you have an antlered dragon). Regarding the story, they could be a former noble house under the lion knights who fell from grace / wanted to rebel and were "Reins of Castamer"- ed by the Lions. That would be the difference between them and the forestmen who seem to be more like peasants in the forest that banded together to steal and live a better life (and are not necessarily hostile towards the lions). Them being peasants also explains their simple attire. On a secondary note, I for one LOVE the forestmen as they are. The only issue I have with them (it's actually a HUGE gripe - because I know LEGO can doi it, and it shouldn't be too expensive for the m to do it) is that they don't come in multiple colors (Blue and Black - for the old ones, and a few new ones with dark green, brown, crimson, orange, purple and so on). Red is nice and dandy , but this would be a cheap and efficient way for LEGO to just make variety inside a faction and even for peasants (because these can be easily used for peasant garb - see the Goat Herder, and his similar torso ) . On ideas on what to do: a medieval Lumbermill (not sure how that didn't get made in the Bricklink program yet), hidden outposts and camps, a caravan, so they can be always on the move. Regarding the ruin, the Brickling Forestmen castle is a ruin if you break off a few thigs and add some more moss. maybe some wooden fortifications around it to make everything look extra improvised.
Nice faction! As a suggestion.. What if Rather than an Inn... What if a woodcutter or coal camp, used as base, maybe with some wooden fortifications, to make it stand out from other fortifications? And either a hermitage they have seized, or rather than a ruined castle, a ruined fortified monastery? (Lego would never do such things, but you can free yourself from Lego own límites!)
These look sick!. Especially like the leader, her legs and torso work SHOCKINGLY well together!. I also like the bandit idea, so from what I can tell the blue dragons created a religious order and the green dragons turned to banditry, wonder what happened to the red dragons 🧐. Can’t wait to see how you’ve changed and probably improved your armies!. Have a great day man:)
I love this new faction but I think you’re missing the bigger picture of their backstory. I think they are the renegade military that are aligned with the forest men. Where as the foresters are more likely the militia of the army, these are the trained soldiers who oppose the Lion King and rally together under the Green Dragon Banner ! Also having a MOC of them in battle with the Lion Knights with a small detachment of Wolf Bandits ambushing them from the flanks would be very cool if I do say so myself 🤙
Green Dragon Knights and the Druid and Elf CMFs make for a very interesting combination. I like where you're going with this. Medieval Roman military manuals discuss weapon choices for different terrain. I know that the bow is popular in fantasy for woodland realms, probably due to a combination of Tolkien Wood-elf lore and association with hunters (such as the Merry Men, who have a lot of poacher elements to them), but the manuals suggest javelins and darts as preferable to bows. Crossbows might also fit decently for similar reasons as they do for factions with lots of fortifications: you can always hide behind a tree while reloading. The manuals also recommend against cavalry in forests: you have hazards such as branches for riders, and things like roots and other ground obstacles can easily lame a horse. You might consider borrowing from Hundred Years War English armies and focus your elites for this faction on polearm-carrying foot knights with only very limited cavalry. As bandits, I also suggest that you include more pack animals than normal, so that they can move quickly through the forest even with all the loot they've taken. One question that might be worth answering is, how much loyalty do the civilians have to the fallen Dragon Knight factions? One key advantage which made Robin Hood such a success was his popularity and access to what amounts to partisan supporters. But if the Lion Knights are more well liked than the Dragon Knights, this could turn the other way. You might see the Green Dragon faction deliberately targeting farms and homesteads, forcing the Lion Knights to mount patrols and making them more vulnerable to ambushes.
love the look so far! i think for the name of the faction "green" doesnt need to be in the title. You could use "wooded", "earthen", or other things that imply or are associated with the green tones.
1000% love repurposing and making armies. The paladin from the DnD cmf is so awesome, you can pretty much make 2-3 cool figures with just that 1 paladin split up in various ways and using spare parts. You can call that faction the white dragons and they fit in with any of the other classic Lego faction dragon knights. can either be a splinter group of the dragon knights or be their own/anti dragon group.
It looks really cool. Would love to see them less as less evil bandits like the wolf pack who go around pillaging everyone. And more as a faction that does some combination of gorilla tactic fighting and open army traditionall fighting against the current rulers . There still noble knights and want to reinstate there rule. I also see them different from the forestmen who wants a to over throw the royalty system and create a different system.
I like the idea of a noble House or band of knights and their retainers in decline as a result of a major defeat, rise of another house, or a weak leader that's allowed the honor of the House to decay. Forced to resort to any means to survive, the remaining House family members and retainers live in rundown dwellings, a shadow of their former splendor, relying on odd jobs, mercenary work, or even becoming brigands to make ends meet.
I like this Forest Dragon faction, I feel like they could be Knights of the Ruby-Footed Forest Dragon. Ruby-Footed Forest Dragons inhabit mainly old growth forests where they use their brilliantly colored feet for mating and dominance displays.
I think a few things you could do to upgrade the figures is add the dual molded dark green land black legs to all the knights who have dual molded gray ones now. You could also get some more of the yellow and green Viking shield for them at least for the ones that use the druids parts since they look less advanced. Lore wise you could have the ones that have Druid and other less uniform clothes a poorer class in the army or faction. They prefer to stay and manage any land they occupy while the standard dragons could be the ones that are more higher up and are used for mercenaries in war or for private use. Idk though this army is still cool how it is!
I mean, if you want the castle ruins to feel more fresh, you could always have their tavern built within the ruins themselves. Edit: I don't know how you feel about Nexo Knights, but I always thought their shields could be great for heraldry and would like to know your thoughts.
For the name, how about the 'Foul Dragons'? First, it was used as an insult for the once proud but fallen knights for their unkept and muddy forest life, which their bitter bandit descendants have now taken with pride.
What if you do a tavern in a cave? Kind of a mix of ruins, something new and different. I kind of hear ya on the forst men, I just got some. Nice ot have, but I don't see me getting a lot.
@@Goldfyre If I can make a suggestion for this woodland faction's stronghold, a useful inspirations would be Amon Sul (weathertop) from Lotr and the Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls.
I think there are almost two factions in here-OG Green Dragons seem dark willed and militaristic compared to what appear to be politically removed forest shamans/druids.
I can see that too, I view it as some of them are the old guard of the kingdom & wish to return to their former glory while some have embraced their new lifestyle in the woods.
Maybe the green dragons alliance with the wolf pack and other forest faction to be a one big alliance too fight against the lion knights idk something like that. Like the king of the green dragon knights is a wanna be daemon I mean if I was the green dragon. Knight leader I would make alliance with other small clans too fight a enemy
Love that movie, but dang, I find it really distracting to have it playing in the background. I miss what you’re saying or showing us because my eyes keep darting over to movement in the background. IMO it grates against your otherwise chill vibe. However, I’ve seen other people say they love it- so maybe I’m just too old and cranky for it.
medieval is one of the reasons I love legos and I love watching your videos about your medieval story because its kinda what I want to do eventually anyway thanks man
You should totally do it! Making your own lore for your figs & MOCs is a ton of fun
I’ve been grabbing a ton of Druids to buff up my green faction as well. I like the branch pieces in the flags/weapons; def stealing that idea
I gotta get some more, I love the backprint of his torso sm
Yay another video! It's amazing how quick your small fanbase reacts!
It's the best! I'm extremely lucky to have that.
I mean I don't know if I would call 30k small haha

So much fun watching your channel. Just made my very first faction MOC. Keep up that fantastic content! Cheers!
love the grean dragon take! my green dragon ""army"" isnt in best shape to say the list and that gave me some inspo on what i wanna do with it :)
Awesome video again, such a cool idea for the green dragons. My favourite group from the medieval Lego
They really are such a cool faction and it'd be cool if lego remade them at some point
Looks really cool and can always appreciate a bit of lore 😎

You’re my favorite creator right now man, I was awaiting an upload soon. Keep doing your thing, I love all your stuff l!
they look great! My suggestion is make them allies of the elves from the cmf line, as a sort of government in exile.
Green Dragon Knights and the Druid and Elf CMFs make for a very interesting combination. I like where you're going with this.

Green Dragons getting druidism really gives them another interesting spin ;)
New name: Forest Dragons, Wood Dragons?
OOo tbh wood dragons sounds a bit nicer than forest dragons to me
Nice more lore
They look pretty sweet! Can't wait to see the mocs, you got this!
Thanks man :)
I made a similar faction in one of my vids, great video brother. I'm glad I inspired you
Thanks man :)
you should definitely try make a ragtag mercenary group that could potentially go up against these forestmen because they've been hired to.
You’ve been the inspiration I need to make my own factions, I’ve been using the new dragon paladin cmfs and Pab parts and it’s coming along nicely.
Great vid nearly 30k subs well done

Always great man!
Ruins are essential in a medieval scenario. Cool faction!

Man these look great it's funny timing cause I'm just about to release an army video that's a group of forest people!
I love these videos man keep it up!
Thanks! :)
Love the new faction, can’t wait for the army update
your videos brought me back in Lego castle. Thank you
The tree branch flag looks really clean ngl
Your knights look so cool!
Wonderful how they all have individual chlothes and amor. I wish green dragon knigths were less expensive.
same man... these guys & the lions from lego kingdoms are some of the best factions lego ever designed.
What you can do a ruined castle that has been repurposed like a hideout over some ruins can be a very original take on ruined castles
Now, all we need is an actual green dragon to be in their army
Bro is cooking his own Game of Throne .
Make them defend or ally with a forest witch, they could then have a deeper meaning in the world and maybe some kind of long term goal
I’m so excited to see the castle
WOW, thx for the inspiration bro!
Love your videos
A treehouse hideout could be fun as well
Do a ruins moc! I did one a few years back and it was super fun to build
You should make joan of arc type of a character!
Would love to see more lore vids

Edit: I don't know how you feel about Nexo Knights, but I always thought their shields could be great for heraldry and would like to know your thoughts.

you should make stop motions
You should call them the green dragon rogues!
Now you gotta make the dragon of dojima.....

Nice

Would the cmf acorn hat be too silly for your world? Ive been using them for nature themed knights and theyre pretty neat!
Hello goldfrye do you want to make stopmotion video's? I think it would turn out very nice with your stories
I've always wanted to do stop motion stuff and have some plans to do so but nothing is set in stone rn
Btw you can use stopmotion studio or stopmotion studio pro to make them
In my Lego world the bear knight cmf and dragon knights with eleve torsos r combined to make a faction call the forest dwellers

earlier for sure, most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday :)

Nice!😊
Is it just Finland or deos LEGO pick a brick not have brown cross bows anymore???

They at least to me, remind me of mercenaries/rebels. That's prob just me though.
I mean in a way they kinda are rebels after losing their wars to the lions
Where do you get the custom helmets
0:49 the "Woodland Elf" torso, what is that torso?
You should add one faction that’s really technologically advanced, with stuff like early styles of cannons and arquebuses
