Nice restoration! Rottenstone is my secret to a nice finish. Bad arse caliber! Got it in a Winchester Featherweight ❤ Handloads shoot. 5" groups at 200 yards!
Thanks for your comments! Yes, that refinish job was a real challenge. The Featherweight would make a nice setup for this. One thing about this cartridge, it doesn't take long for it to get where it's going.
Thanks for sharing your experience with this rifle, it looks great after the work you and your wife did on it. That caliber, rifle, scope combination should be fantastic for “reaching out and touching” far away targets. Woodchucks and coyotes come to mind.
The gun turned out awesome. I have a couple of big brothers in the 404 Jeffrey cases. A 300 and 375 RUM. Their era at least lasted a few years more than the super short mags.
Hello there, what a beautiful job restoring that rifle! You sound Canadian, hello from northern Alberta. Hope you continue to post videos of your collection.
That's almost correct..... the parent cartridge for the wssm's is the 300 wsm. And the parent case for the 300 wsm is thought to be the 404. Just thought I'd help you out on that a bit.
Nice job! Love the wsm and wssm cartridges. Not very many are willing to buy these any more. Have brass and does for the 24&25wssm.They Plan on making a Tikka stainless into a 25 wssm.
It was because of the law suit. The original designer patented the cartridge.winchester lost in court. Nobody wants to pay royalties. That's why winchester came out with the 6.8 western. Cases are really close to each other.
Thanks for your comments. You are fortunate to have one, since they are hard to find now. Thanks to Google translate, here's my reply in Spanish for you. (Gracias por tus comentarios. Tienes suerte de tener uno, ya que ahora es difícil encontrarlos.)

Thanks for your comments! Yes, I was happy with the end result. Not only does this cartridge 'reach and and touch' at distance, but it touches hard!

If they would’ve been smart enough to produce that caliber with a faster twist, it probably would still be around and they would call it an ARC. lol
Thanks for your comments! Those are definitely BIG brothers!
You've got that right about the ARC!
Hell of a job brother! I love a good resurrection story 👍
Thanks for your comments! It was a real challenge, but I'm happy with the result.

Thanks for your comments! Yes the project turned out well, but the Browning finish was brutal to remove. Hello from Ontario.

You are technically correct. I took a shortcut to the 'grandparent' cartridge, since it spawned the 300 WSM and then the WSSMs.
Awesome looking rifle, my friend! I've got an ugly stainless stalker in the same caliber that I'm still quite proud of.
Thanks for your comments! It's an awesome cartridge.
@@thecalibercorner9614could you please explain to me why the .223 is considered awesome?
I have one in the 233 wssm but I can’t find the ammo anywhere near me we by chance do yall find it from
Nice job fixing her up... my mate has .270 wssm Tikka... it let's rip!!
Thanks for your comment! It was a challenge, but I'm happy with the results.

Thanks for your comments! I think these cartridges are great too, and really don't understand why they didn't catch on more.

So after all that work and a mighty fine job you did, how does it shoot?
Thanks for your comment and question! Turned out to be a good shooter, I just wish it had a heavier barrel. I just like heavy barrels.
@@thecalibercorner9614 No doubt heavy barrels shoot best but I'm a hunter and light first shot kill barrels just work better!
que bonito rifle me encanta llo tengo uno igual

What model is that? Browning a bolt ? Hunter ?
Thanks for your question! I actually no longer have this rifle, but I think you are right about it being the hunter model A-Bolt.
My dad would have cut a switch if I had abused a gun like that.😂
Thanks for your comment! Absolutely! We were taught to look after our belongings.
