Could you make a video explaining all your experiences when you very first moved there? Could you also make a video maybe discussing more in depth your transition from Atheism? Putting that in this video made my day.
Thank you for the suggestion! I'm so happy the atheism part moved you! I've been outlining "my story" for a long time now so I will put this on the list.
I will be moving to Oahu this year. I never felt in place on the Mainland, the attitudes, the rat race, the weather, it's all always felt wrong to me. Hawai'i is the only place I ever felt 'at peace'.
I understand more and more what you mean with beauty and spirituality of Hawaii, only seeing a few pictures or even better a video with all views like beaches and so on makes you happy. It's really like magic when I feel down and watch your videos with these views I suddenly feel better. I kinda would suggest Hawaii view videos as anti depressives^^
Peter, Thank you for your tips. I am planning to live in Hawaii. I will be in Oahu for first time in couple weeks. The idea is get the feeling, environment, culture, weather, and make a connections to improve my network. I am looking for a job in electrical, control systems, automation engineering fields.
This place is beautiful, therefore, God exists. ...Makes sense. Love your channel. Doing these videos from your car so people see the scenery is brilliant.

@@livehawaii I’d love to move to Oahu in five years when my youngest graduates high school. The purchase of a home is kind of difficult though. Even if you get a multi family/Ohana type of situation and all the other necessary things.. good credit, down payment, reserves, etc, I still may not qualify based on income.
I have never been but I have always wanted to go!! We went to the Virgin islands and I never wanted to leave. I love being outside and the ocean is my happy place ❤️.
Aloha Peter! I love going through your videos. You may have already done a video similar to this, but would you do a video discuss travel nurses/temp workers coming to hawaii and the pros and cons? Mahalo for what you do!
Hey Peter just wanted to say TY for the videos and keeping it real! I managed to find some pretty affordable condos in Honolulu (next to a hospital I'll be at as a nurse) houses were insane but hey, a condo is perfectly fine and too many people overlook it, thanks for the vids!
I want to move to Hawaii as soon as possible. I hope to find employment to aid me in this process. This is definitely where I want to eventually retire. I love being outdoors, warm weather and being surrounded by such beauty.
My husband and I were there on Maui last September. We’d like to know how to get established there. I’m retired at 62, he’s going to retire in 4 yrs. Its so expensive to live there, we just don’t know how to plan. Being there made us very happy and very spiritual. I stood on the shore of turtle beach and gave thanks with tears just because of the beauty of the surroundings. I also cried when we left to come home. Truly a dream come true.

Retire in Hawaii? Ask yourself at your age being in your 60s if you have no debt , 100k cash, and minimum 500k- 2 million dollars in retirement accounts and don't need specialists for healthcare.... if you can't answer yes to all of those, then I wouldn't do it. The only thing worse than poor and homeless in Hawaii is watching our veterans and seniors in hawaii homeless or on welfare.
So wife and I just bought our Hawaiian Dream home last June. We are still living in Pittsburgh because we have two teenagers to help thru college...then...pau we are off! It’s the perfect property for us as it has 3 houses on 2 acres so we can rent a part of it when we move over there to help pay the mortgage. For now, we are lucky to have a great property manager that found us wonderful long term tenants. We stay in the small ohana house in back when we come over. No...we are not rich we are average income people.🌈😃🤙
you should do a really big/long video or a series of you just driving around Oahu and answering a big list of questions from the comments. I know it would be inconvenient for you to do a 1 min. vid on one question, This way we get to see the landscaping of the island and learn about it. It would be super cool.
Aloha Peter! Thank you for the wonderful videos and great information! I think you hit the nail on the head with the spiritual aspect of the islands. There is something about the elements there (people, water, air, contagious happiness all over the place.) When I'm there, I feel a close, almost magical connection with heaven and earth, and I'm not a religious person.. There aren't very many places on this planet like the Hawaiian Islands and the people of Hawaii. My wife and I have the wild dream/goal of one day, renting or selling our house and all of our things, and moving there, for good. I've been doing as much research of the islands as possible so mahalo nui loa for these inspiring videos! :) Aloha! -Brendon
Favorite video so far. Your videos have motivated me a lot, and reassured me that going to Hawaii is a good idea. Next step to break the funk! Where I'm at now has a lot of the same positives as Hawaii, but the default position is: Anger. and in the end that breaks the whole dream.
Sunshine! Sunshine! Sunshine! I live in a place that doesn't get many days of sunlight. It's very gray & it has a feeling of flat-lining attached to it. You have to fight not to have a gray attitude. Vitamin D deficiency... Thanks for this!
We are currently spending our last day of a two week vacation on Kauai. We did a cruise of the islands and spent three days is Oahu as well as 4 days on Kauai. What has surprised me is how many local people have been less friendly than we have seen in visits in the past especially in the Honolulu area. Don’t get me wrong we have met lots of friendly locals but just as many “going through the motions unhappy with my job and life people” that we see back home. We have been very polite (Canadian,Lol) and even the lack of Aloha and Maholo has been a head scratcher. Definitely a difference in the number of friendly people on Kauai and the big island than compared to Oahu and Maui. I think people need to know not everyone is happy here.
What I've noticed in commentary on Hawaiian videos over the past year, is that here, on the mainland, racism is looked down upon by white people in general. Going to Hawaii turns nice, friendly people into "Haole" and expected to prove themselves by people who actually DO judge people on the color of their skin. It seems that a lot of angry Hawaiians don't want to even have white people visit, because "white people bad", while accusing THEM of being rude, when their racial assumptions contributes to the division to begin with. The term haole is offensive to begin with. How is a good hearted person supposed to feel warmth toward a community, when you're automatically called the Caucasian version of the N-word? Hawaiian culture seems to set up a false narrative about a race of people that's not even true, then pre-punishes them upon arrival. Then if you leave, because you can't get a fair shake, they use that as an excuse not to like you as well. I've heard some horror stories about "beat a haole day" (last day of school) where kids are beaten up, just for being white. This mentality will destroy Hawaii & it's people one day.
Speaking as a haole, that is a grossly in accurate oversimplification of the racial complexity in Hawaii. It is not even remotely similar to the white black racial friction of US history. While there is certainly some animosity against white people in Hawaii, it is not that simple. I do appreciate your comment and it makes me think that I should probably come up with a video about this topic.
@@livehawaii I've heard both sides of that argument. Some who say that as long as you're not rude or pushy, you'll be fine, then others who said they were chased off of beaches, mugged or beaten up for parking their car in a place where Hawaiians can't go anymore because white people are in the way, etc. ... and people who left because their kids weren't being given a chance to fit in, because they were white, and no matter how friendly they were, they were always treated as intruders.

Peter, Love the latest video. Your list of reasons about how Hawaii makes you happy pretty much sums up how I feel about Hawaii, and I hope I would feel the same way living there. I am 45 years old, and will be an empty nester in 2 years. I am in a good financial place. I can't continue with the status quo indefinitely. I am setting the foundations for a move to Hawaii for at least part of the year. The one problem, the wife will not be on board. I'm so glad these videos have helped you! Perhaps you can ease your wife into it by staying here part of the year. This way she can stay close to family.
The vibe I'm getting (especially about the people) is that it's like Canada but with way better weather and beaches. In my head it makes so much sense to move there, it's like a magnetic force.. 😅

ALOHA Peter!! :D John and I (Amy) are absolutely loving your vids!! We so appreciated you sharing your personal story of how you used to be an atheist and the beauty of Hawaii and spiritualness of the creator whooed you into believing there is an amazing, caring God. So many of His ways are tucked into the Hawaiian culture, making Hawaii one of the most desirable places to live! I so loved what you shared about gratitude too! Also, what are you using to take such amazing 360 degree shots?!! You stand out among any of the other vids because you are giving us such an amazing panoramic view! :) Is someone filming or is it on a swivel stick? John and I have lived on several of the Islands. We agree with everything you share on your vids. We are on the mainland right now but are looking to relocate to Oahu soon. Have you considered doing some vids of the Stadium Swapmeet... or grocery shopping places? Also some great local restaurant spots. Would love to see a vid on Kaneohe too. :) Mahalo, Peter!! Keep it up! Love the heart of what you are doing and sharing about the true culture as well.! So needed! Blessings, Amy & John
Get some help and get over the phobia. It's limiting your life and you definitely cannot live in Hawaii. The roaches here get as big as the body of a mouse, and they fly.
Thank you a lot for your videos, I have never been to Hawaii but have a personal reason to go. I am almost finished with your videos and they are inspiring and help me keep focused. There are a bunch of pretty faces vouching for Hawaii but none of them mean anything to me. You keep me focused though. I have a question, I know you are focused on the heart of Hawaii and I am glad you are, but is it possible to visit Chinatown in Honolulu in one of your videos? Once again, thank you for your videos!
Hi Peter, my husbands in the construction field (estimator) I’ve heard that’s a good industry there, however I would love to stay in banking. Happen to know how easy/difficult it’s is to get into the banking world there?
Hey Peter! I wonder if you could do a video about the situation a family will face moving to Hawaii with kids who need to change schools and adapt to the VERY different lifestyle, new classmates, completely new way of life... Racism in the schools. Clicks in the school... etc. That'd be interesting! Aloha man... always good to see your vids!
true dat but here's the thing: the only story I can tell is mine and I am telling the whole story. Though I totally acknowledge the "kill haole day" was real, it was not part of my experience. I suggest you start telling your story as I believe it's valid and needs to be told. It's just that I'm not the one who can tell it.
My videos are honest and I'm going through a list of topics. My website is covering a ton of topics. It seems you would do things differently so why don't you create videos with your point of view?
Aloha Peter, How are you? I have been checking UHM for my grad school and they have a great Spanish and Portuguese department I want to study. They happen to give a 20k stipend and free tuition. I am from Brazil living in Arkansas but I really want to move to Hawaii for all what you said in this video, spiritualism, be happy, MAINLY nice people. DO you think I can live in that budget during my master's degree?
Honestly, I don't know how much is renting in Hawaii, but I have been checking and I know if I share a house/apartment close to UHM I will prob spend 700 per month (thinking super high) if I share the house with 2 or more people, plus maybe 400 with food if I eat at home. I did all the math and I did the "double" of what I spend here in Fay-Ar to have an idea. I'd probably get around 2k per month of stipend.
Peter Kay Living in Hawaii so for a student like me. What would be the expensive stuff ? Like housing, food.. what is your advice on where I can save if I’m smart. You know? Maybe totally share a house with more people with all included and maybe do a extra job as translator or tutor?
Just do what everyone else does and shop at Walmart and Costco. You can start practicing right now: pretend things cost 2x. What would you do differently?
From which island are you filming? My husband and I are trying to transfer to Hawaii. We would have to go to Honolulu if that’s how we manage to get there. Even if only one of us can transfer we plan to go. Concerns are cost of living.
I am married and am retired from the US Army with a military pension, I am a 100% disabled veteran with VA disability payments, and I am on Social Security. Together I have a yearly income of $86k+ mostly tax free. I believe that Hawaii allows me to not have to pay property tax as a 100% disabled veteran. I have access to all military PX/BX & Commissaries plus travel benefits on military aircraft. Would living in Hawaii be a possibility for me and my wife? My wife is Chinese so we would prefer to have a condo in or near Chinatown Honolulu or a Chinese community in Maui.
Peter I have 3 points of interest I would like for you to address in either a video or direct contact back to me: 1. We have a young child who will be going to school soon and I heard Hawaii’s public schools is unfortunately not good. Can you comment on that? Can you recommend any good school districts on Oahu? And compare it to charter and private/religious are they worth the money? 2. I understand traffic is TERRIBLE driving into Honolulu I don’t want to be stuck in a 2 hr commute. Can you please recommend towns/neighborhoods where the commute would be half an hour or less? 3. I am an out of work IT professional (stay at home Mom for now) with a Masters Degree in IT how is the IT job market? Can you help with Job Connections? 4. I also desire to start an online business of my own. Any business ideas you can recommend that I can start immediately and eventually continue managing when moving to Hawaii? My husband and I enjoy watching your videos and watch them often. We hope to hear from you soon. Aloha & Thanks, Elena & Nick
Great video. How's the healthcare in Honolulu? My wife will be 60 in July. I'm about to turn 56. I am an Echocardiographer and my wife an exeptional surgical tech. Thinking of working our last 10 years or so in Honolulu and then retiring there. I have travel benefits with an airline I took early retirement from in 2009 so flying back and forth from the mainland is no big deal. What are your thoughts? Thanks Rick
@@livehawaii Yes you're right. However seems there kinda like 2 types: one that barely never had problems, one that often got in trouble. Like verbally offended, threatened, bullied and so on. Wondering what they did or they are just magnets for trouble.
I think it’s just general human nature. Hawaii is different, and some people who come here don’t understand the difference. And some people get upset about that.
Great video making the move in about for months purchased a lot in pahoa going to build a small 800 square foot 2 bed one bath. You keep showing yourself driving in the hyways why don't you go to the beaches climd their Rocky mountains..show me inside the different beaches.. instead of showing the sky and the horizon
Farmers markets are abundant, fruits and veggies are cheap there. Also you use A LOT less gas than you do on the mainland, drive less mileage, have cheaper car insurance, less wear and tear on your car. There is give and take.

Thank you for such kind words and great ideas for other videos! This was shot with the Rylo camera and is linked in the description.
Peter Kay Living in Hawaii thanks much!!! Hope to meet you in person one day! Aloha!
What if we are terrified of roaches? I lived with them as a child in NYC...never got used to them. Is there any place in HI with LESS roaches?
Get some help and get over the phobia. It's limiting your life and you definitely cannot live in Hawaii. The roaches here get as big as the body of a mouse, and they fly.
Positive video!
I have been to oahu, maui & big Island, i chose big island over any other island
I love this channel ❣️❣️❣️❣️
I'm so glad too hear that ❤️☺️
Can you driv through a market area and talk about how the local cuisines are and what the prices are
Good idea!
Who do I check with for to rent out my condo for
Airbnb
Great video
Mahalo!
What do you do for a living in hawaii mr Peter Kay
I'm a tech entrepreneur. Look me up on LinkedIn.
Thanks for your kind words and I'll put that request in the list.
Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm! It's all good, but why are you filming while driving??????
I bet someone else was filming and he was just talking : D
that's what's so cool..the camera is just recording...you'll notice I've got both hands on the wheel!
no one else in the car! camera is just recording on its own.
wowww that is awesome device! haha
Hi Peter, my husbands in the construction field (estimator) I’ve heard that’s a good industry there, however I would love to stay in banking. Happen to know how easy/difficult it’s is to get into the banking world there?
Yes I'm very familiar. If you're seriously considering it make sure you register here: www.aimforawesome.com/do-you-dream-of-living-in-hawaii/
Hey Peter! I wonder if you could do a video about the situation a family will face moving to Hawaii with kids who need to change schools and adapt to the VERY different lifestyle, new classmates, completely new way of life... Racism in the schools. Clicks in the school... etc. That'd be interesting! Aloha man... always good to see your vids!
lol that would be a 2 hour documentary! :) but I will put it on my list. Mahalo!
ho brah you gotta start living up to your namesake! :)
true dat but here's the thing: the only story I can tell is mine and I am telling the whole story.
Good! This is his story. And it's also why I tell people with children to not put their kids in public schools here generally speaking.
What have you calculated to be your monthly expenses here?
Honestly, I don't know how much is renting in Hawaii, but I have been checking and I know if I share a house/apartment close to UHM I will prob spend 700 per month (thinking super high) if I share the house with 2 or more people, plus maybe 400 with food if I eat at home. I did all the math and I did the "double" of what I spend here in Fay-Ar to have an idea. I'd probably get around 2k per month of stipend.
I think $2k/mo is about right, given your above. It's going to be super tight, though.
I’ll have an attitude of gratitude if the Lord lets me and my family move there.
From which island are you filming? My husband and I are trying to transfer to Hawaii. We would have to go to Honolulu if that’s how we manage to get there. Even if only one of us can transfer we plan to go. Concerns are cost of living.
Filming on Oahu.
I signed up for the newsletter...what else should I do to connect with you?
That plus the FB page and you can email me via newsletter reply
Please comment on rates of skin cancer and eye problems caused by sun exposure in Hawaii
I will defer to your research on that topic
I am married and am retired from the US Army with a military pension, I am a 100% disabled veteran with VA disability payments, and I am on Social Security. Together I have a yearly income of $86k+ mostly tax free. I believe that Hawaii allows me to not have to pay property tax as a 100% disabled veteran. I have access to all military PX/BX & Commissaries plus travel benefits on military aircraft. Would living in Hawaii be a possibility for me and my wife? My wife is Chinese so we would prefer to have a condo in or near Chinatown Honolulu or a Chinese community in Maui.
Everyone situation is different. Yours sounds like it could work. Click on the links in the description and get on my newsletter
Peter I have 3 points of interest I would like for you to address in either a video or direct contact back to me:
More like 4 points of interest lol
Great questions! Many answers on my website: www.aimforawesome.com
Thanks Rick
See my video on Best island for you.

Where are the Hawaiians🌴🥥🍍🏖️😎🎼🌐🛡️🏆☀️!
Everywhere!
Yeah I couldn't afford to eat there and couldn't get a job.
people in Hawaii are happy beacuse of the night marchers,
Yeah I think you're right ;)
about questions. How difficult is it living there as a white person since Hawaii's past?
It has nothing to do with skin color and everything to do with embracing the culture
@@livehawaii Yes you're right. However seems there kinda like 2 types: one that barely never had problems, one that often got in trouble. Like verbally offended, threatened, bullied and so on. Wondering what they did or they are just magnets for trouble.
Yes. You are correct. The environment is the same, yet two people have two completely different experiences. What does that tell you?
@@livehawaii They had bad and/or their behaviour. So what are the main no goes that make people angry in Hawaii?
I think it’s just general human nature. Hawaii is different, and some people who come here don’t understand the difference. And some people get upset about that.
Great video making the move in about for months purchased a lot in pahoa going to build a small 800 square foot 2 bed one bath. Free and clear start a constuction business building affordable housing If it doesn't work out well i will be broke in paradise
never been to Hawaii. How crazy is thatAloha
It's pretty crazy
Yeah you should definitely visit before, at least several times.
Hawaii will always be my home being in the mainland people here are not friendly at all
You can really appreciate where you are from now I'll bet
:)
You keep showing yourself driving in the hyways why don't you go to the beaches climd their Rocky mountains..show me inside the different beaches.. instead of showing the sky and the horizon
Simple answer is the production costs are too high
How do you afford to eat healthy there...vegetables are so expensive. AND gas too...so are you stuck home all of the time.
Lol you have to learn how to generate income!
Farmers markets are abundant, fruits and veggies are cheap there. Also you use A LOT less gas than you do on the mainland, drive less mileage, have cheaper car insurance, less wear and tear on your car. There is give and take.
Downvote on the multiple subscribe requests.
Oh boo hoo
You just lost me. Really !? Spiritual people are happier? You now believe in God because Hawaii is beautiful? Lots of places are beautiful, that certainly does Not mean that any Gods are real.
Beauty does not prove God's existence but it certainly points to a transcendent reality which materialism cannot account for.
