@@BhattiJatt Chile is known in the mining world thanks to its rich quantity of gold, copper and quartz, this cave specifically was for copper and gold.
I was 6 when this happened in 2010, I saw it live and watched the news every day to keep up with what was happening, and trust me, something like this would take more than a day even in current times-- they were 700 meters underground, and even then the biggest problem was funds, _a third_ of the money used to pay for materials & professionals was paid by donations from people, and even then I remember a lack of money being a big issue, they wanted to build a sort of "capsule" to bring them out and a big part of the struggle was them trying to find a safe and effective way of making one with the money they had Even then the company that got them trapped there because of multiple safety violations was on trial after, but they left with no charges
I was curious and did a little math. You would have to loop this 47 minute long video roughly 2114 times to experience how long they were trapped in there for. It’s amazing how well they kept their spirits up. Everyone handled this so well!
I read the book it was amazing there was a lot not in this documentary their spirit was amazing before the contact then when they started getting stuff sent down that’s when the problems started, but the rescue itself was nothing short of amazing the problems they had to overcome were huge but while they were waiting for the capsules they were partying then they had to start checking the parcels off family because they were sending booze and cannabis and porn they had to make sure they didn’t put weight on so they fit in the capsule really really good book
@@marcdonald2673i had to stop reading that about a quarter of the way through. i understand you may be young or english may not be your first language but a basic understanding of how to prevent run-on sentences would make that comment much less terrible to read
I was a sophomore in high school when this happened. I remember every morning our history teacher would give us an update and we'd watch a bit of the news to check on the situation. Every day we'd pray as a class for the rescue efforts. The day they surfaced was so cool, we were all ecstatic.
Same here! Except they did a briefing over the announcements. Watching this now, I realize I could have never understood the complications and gravity of this situation. Us kids that the experienced 9/11 early in life weren’t quite as naive as most kids and teens about disasters working out okay in the end, but I still remember having this blind faith that the miners would be rescued.

@@gremlin_uwu yeah ngl i made this comment before actually watching the whole thing so at the time my knowledge was based on what i was reading in the comments. 👍
This was an amazing story. I think the documentary missed out some important details about how the men organized themselves, made collective decisions, and shared leadership roles. Some took specific roles such as leading prayer, or leading works to maintain the mine. They all had their bad days, but the other men would rally in support of each other. They understood that they had to maintain a sense of society. They did a remarkable job of that, one that many politicians would do well to take note of. It's incredible that they all came out alive, and without visible signs of psychosis. I'm sure they suffered trauma, and I hope they were given appropriate support over the following years. The wife who spoke of knowing that her husband would need time to himself as he resumed his life outside the mine showed such insight and compassion. Those men will share a bond for as long as they live, and I hope they continued to support each other as the years have passed by, and the world has moved on. They spent a season in hell, and then came back to life. A unique experience.
That isn't even close to hell, that's like daises and rainbows compared with hell. Turn to Jesus Christ while you can, repent and follow Him. He is our only hope from a dark, fiery, never ending, conscious place with weeping and gnashing of teeth and no sleep.
Well done to that USA team who did the business and then quietly slipped away wanting none of the glory, leaving it all to the miners and their families.... Total Respect!!!
Chilean here. I remember that at the time I wasn't even aware that it was an american team that managed to drill the hole from were they were rescued, also, based on the way that the miners thanked the exacavation team, it seems like they thought it was a chilean team. In retrospective it seems like the goverment took the credit for the rescue, but I can't say for sure. Anyway, respect to the american team for stepping up, getting the job done and packing up, leaving the glory to the miners.

I always had soft spot for miners. Throughout the history, they break their backs in those dark pits, for meager wages, so that our industrial civilization can run. Forcing companies to pay a certain wage also makes it harder for small companies to compete, feeding the monopolies. Not sure what you definition of a comfortable life is but I would say it is your job to make that for yourself, not a company or government to hold your hand and mommy you. You can either have pure competition or you can have safety nets, not both. Freedom requires self reliance. If you want to have a comfortable life provided for you, you will not be free. I was 6 when this happened in 2010, I saw it live and watched the news every day to keep up with what was happening, and trust me, something like this would take more than a day even in current times-- they were 700 meters underground, and even then the biggest problem was funds, _a third_ of the money used to pay for materials & professionals was paid by donations from people, and even then I remember a lack of money being a big issue, they wanted to build a sort of "capsule" to bring them out and a big part of the struggle was them trying to find a safe and effective way of making one with the money they had
Even then the company that got them trapped there because of multiple safety violations was on trial after, but they left with no charges

A unique experience.
yeah the book version is always superior lol

The efforts of the Chilean country as well as the international involvement was inspiring to say the least. I cannot imagine the hell of being trapped like that. As a previous comment said which I will echo Viva LA Chile, Viva LA Chile...
Sometimes you have to watch videos like this to be reminded that there are not only good, but great people in this world
And if we work together we can do amazing things!
It’s amazing how this was broadcasted around the world, and everyone was praying for their rescue.
I remember there were global prayer chains for them. Amen.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! ALL THAT HARD WORK AND EFFORT SAVED 33 MEN FROM A TOMB DEATH. A GREAT ENDING TO SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL.
When people ask me how I'm doing I always say : "It beats working in the mines". This documentary reasures that idea.
Amen
They all must have a heart of lion ..
Brave miners
Brave rescuers
Then you should definitely work there
I remember watching updates about this on the highschool morning news. Thank goodness everyone came to rescue them and it succeeded.
I remember crying and praying for these men every night after the initial accident. So many times I had/have seen these things with the loss of everyone. I'll never forget holding my breath with the rest of the world as they came out. Such an incredible miracle.
I helped build that drill head
Man I bet that was some crazy stuff knowing what u was working on was going to try and do. That has to feel good to know you at least in some small way helped save lives. I know it would make me feel good.
thank u for your work sir! 🙏
God bless you brother.
You didn't do to good of a job
@@Anthony-413 yeah maybe you could have built a better one

Wow... just stunning. A story of faith, strength and determination. A story of love. Makes you think about everything. We are at our best when we are driven by love, empathy, intelligence and innovation. I love how this brought everyone together. Beautiful to see that they survived
Shut up
@@Dr.s3RTH stfu you miserable troll incel piece of shit
What are the fucking odds having all 33 miners being rescued and alive is insane! Glad they all made it out!
22:51 That projector probably looked great down there though.
This was in my country! I still remember watching it all on the news at that time. We all cried when the last man got out! I remember staying up all night to make sure they were safe. This really brings back memories :)
imagine if one of the miners was overweight and couldnt fit through that, my god..
After months of basically starving, I doubt that would’ve been an issue lol
Haha 🤣
@@breiversen9187 you still need vitamins though.
@@manofgod7622 your comment doesn’t relate to any of the other replies..
After living of half a spoon of tuna a day and bottles of vitamin water I doubt it lmao.
I remember watching this live around the clock - unbelievable what we can do together. I remember crying joyfully every time another person came out. I wish things could always be like this…just getting along and taking care of each other.
I absolutely agree. I fear the world will never live together in peace and harmony so I just focus on these moments where it took everyone to work together and sheer human willpower to pull off this rescue
I've never met a Chilean but we were hugging, cheering and celebrating like we won the world cup. We were in Somalia.
Nice to meet you Jam!!!
@@Paltitaaa Nice to meet you too comrade.
I remember this like it was just yesterday. Time goes by quick. I was just in 6th grade.
Somalia? holy shit the meme about at least 1 Chilean being present everywhere in the world at all times is so real hahaha, not even Somalia is safe from this rule of nature
@@felipeoyarzun5424 hehe
I'll never forget this, I come from a long line of coal miners and I watched in tears as they came to the surface. Every one involved in the rescue can feel immensely proud of what they achieved.
I remember hearing about this in California, the whole world was waiting and hoping for them to make it out safely. Brave men, brave crew who saved them. Thank you all.
30:21 its amazing how engineer's faith in science made it possible to solve this kind of problem.
Pure respect to those men who had to wait month in a dark cave, starving every day waiting to be rescued and to those who helped drill the holes, get the men out, and the families for giving them hope.
Thank you American drilling team, love to see an American Corporation doing good for a change.. You were the first to help and used the least amount of resources and operating costs... They overcame the most amount of defeat and setbacks, yet still the first to breakthrough..
So sad to see how much good we could do in the world yet corrupt government/greedy corporations wastes our resources on weapons..
Muchos Gracias..
Capitalism is good for competition, you've got your beliefs all jacked up bud.
WTF are you talking about? You watch too many dumb TV shows. American corporations are why you have that amazing phone, car, internet, medical equipment, cheap air flights, and Air Conditioned room you are at right now. Americans are the most generous and giving on all the planet. You see any other nations giving billions to places like Haiti, Puerto Rico, etc? And then they still complained stuff wasn't getting there fast enough. You are being taught a flip flopped reality. America nearly halved world poverty in half a century.
most corporations have to do good... no one would give them money if they didn't improve someones life. That is the core of capitalism, you can only be as selfish as your customers selfishness will allow.
@@johnjohn-kd7fl I'm for Capitalism as it is defined in the dictionary but unfortunately the reality is closer to Fascism where corruption is promoting consolidation which stifles fair competition.
I hate the service of my cellular, internet, electrical, youtube, insurance, google, gas, Banking, Airline, and operating system provider..
BUT OFTEN THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE...THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE NICE
There was a point where Corporations did more good than harm.. Now the tipping point is going in the opposite direction.. I'm thankful for the technology we have now and it's possible to eventually have machines do the majority of the work for us where only highly skilled doctors, artists, and computer/robotic techs will have to work.. Unless there's social safety nets where there's decent work with healthcare to live comfortably..
@@rrpearsall I think your conflating monopolies with fascism. Fascism is a system of government, not a value exchange system. Fascism is rarely seen without strong elements of socialism. Since socialism is governmental control of goods and services and fascism is dictatorial in nature. Forcing companies to provide "safety nets" like healthcare blocks competition in that field making it socialistic. I will take a hard free life over being a comfortable bitch.
Brought here by Covid-19 lock-down. Incredible outcome !!!!!!!!!
Literally crying after watching this. The hard work of both miners and drillers is touching. They didn't give up, mostly they didn't let each other to feel dejected.
