@@mosesracal6758 no. Hawker sea furies didn’t even use the R2800. They used the Bristol Centaurus. The Zero used the Sakae 14 cylinder radial, and modern reproductions/restorations use the R-1830.

      Meanwhile in human form:
      'Spity.'
      'Mmm?'
'Why we're your family's name Spitfire?'
"**Flashback when the new engine was put on her unit and one of her collegues reading some ecchi stuff and the last thing for her to remember is her unit's barracks on fire**
'I don't remember much, but our family's name became a legend and an irony itself.' "
'?....**sudden relization of the post-war incident**,oh I get it. Your the on-'('one of the people that start barrack fire and get spank in the ass?')

Milou plop True, all variants of Sea Fury originally had the Bristol Centaurus engine. However, there were far fewer Centaurus engines manufactured in the war compared to the quantities of P&W R28000s, so my guess is this particular Sea Fury has been re-engined with a R2800 at some point later in life due to lack of replacement Centaurus engines. The R2800 is actually slightly smaller in diameter than the Centaurus (1342mm vs 1404mm respectively) - quite an achievement considering the R2800 had overhead valves compared to the Centaurus’ sleeve valve head - so would fit in the airframe easily.

Apparantly it was never mounted on any Yak to test it in flight since I've never heard of it again. Too bad. I'd also love to see a Dora take off with its original Jumo 213 beast of an engine.
