liamisamonster There is indeed XD my favorite song of all time is one of theirs, Sooner or Later. It's got a soothing sound and its lyrics are based on Kierkegaard's writings :) you should check it out!
Hard to believe that I was a crazy mixed up teenager when this song came out. I’ll be 31 this summer. Where did all that time go? Oh well. Nostalgia binge here I come.
Got into switchfoot with their album the Beautiful Letdiwn when I was 5 years old. I was 7 when this album came out and I was so excited. Like... damn, its been 15 years.
I'm far from religious and being a christian but, this band is one of my favourites of all time, Jon's vocal's, the bands instrumental and song writing skills are something I'm inspired by ever day.
You don't have to be religious. It's all about our own personal and spiritual relationship with the Father God through Jesus Christ. The minute you repent of your sins and put your faith in Christ you will receive Holy Spirit and a change of heart and oh man.. it's the greatest feelings you could possibly have to be loved and saved by the Creator :)
This is too cool to read. I was raised on the Beach Boys and they will forever remind me of my dad. I'm raising my two boys on Switchfoot and the Foo Fighters. Maybe on day they'll hear a song I played for them and it'll remind them of me. . .
I'm from Bangladesh and I used to listen to this all the time when I was in 3rd/4th grade without understand anything they're saying except "stars." I didn't had the permission to use the internet so searching for the lyrics was not an option for me back then. My goal was to learn the whole lyrics when I grow up. I'm in 12th grade now and damn this song has soooo much memories for me. Thank you, Switchfoot. Love from Bangladesh. ❤️
@JonathanMarkForeman I’ve been listening since the beginning. Meant to live is my favorite, along with Dare you to Move. From the lyrics to the guitars they are perfection. 💜
Interesting Fact: In an August 2011 interview with Songfacts, lead singer Jon Foreman explained the inspiration for "Stars": "I'm always looking to find order within the chaos. And sometimes when my life gets fairly chaotic, I'll take a walk outside. And in this one particular instance, I remember I'd driven off into the desert and was looking up at the stars. I had a pretty good view away from the city lights out in the high desert, and I remember thinking about the order and the perfection of galaxies of planets in orbit and traveling around space and thinking how chaotic the wars and divorces and riots on our planet must look from outer space. So that's where the song began." In another interview, Foreman said that "Stars" is about perspective, a song about stepping back in the midst of chaos and looking at the stars; the idea of anti-entropy, implying there must be something keeping the world together. "The first verse looks at things from Descartes perspective, pinning the center of the universe on the individual. 'Maybe I've been the problem,' maybe I'm overcast, falling apart, etc... The second verse talks about our world from the perspective of the stars looking down on earth from the eternal dance of gravity and motion."
i don't think that's cheesy, i think that's wonderful & beautiful. i'm seeing this comment three years later, but i have to tell you that seeing this made my night, so thank you for sharing this
I'm gonna be honest. I used to listen to them all the time. I haven't heard them probably since I saw them live in 2013 or 14 then today this song came to mind and here I am
The 1st song I downloaded from the band he album version, nothing is sound, is more rocking intro ,which makes it one of the best Christian rock and rock opening songs I heard. I consider this their signature song. The stars are the limit how you tackle faith. This song stars, Andrew 38th parrarel north blue north have a connection here.
This will always be one of my favorite songs. I remember hearing for the first time in 2005 and falling in love with this instantly. Definitely a bit of a nostalgic feeling. They are amazing.
hands down, switchfoot is the best christian rock band around. their lyrics resonate to many people and their sound is hard to beat. watched the fading west video, and you get a sense of how these guys really are. they go to places and music concerts(death metal concerts) to reach out to people. that's just amazing! switchfoot come to walla walla, washington!

First heard this band at school. It's was red ribbon week, and these guys were in one of those "natural high" videos. Thanks school, I found a band I like!

Switchfoot is one of the underrated rock bands of all time. They are amazing! They deserve a Grammy!
They won a Grammy for Hello Hurricane🤘🏼
@@RodSciola It should be 3 or 5. They really deserve that😶
@@MacDoo-t116nuunfortunately they only keep giving the Grammys to U2 and Foo Fighters.

Not under rated - Switchfoot
Flies "under the radar. "
They're crazy like that😉
I miss the days when a pop/rock song could have such a heavy monstrous riff like this.
zkhott1 agreed
The real intro is heavier and better and longer
Look up slipknot

Lyrics:
Maybe I've been the problem, maybe I'm the one to blame
But even when I turn it off and blame myself, the outcome feels the same
I've been thinkin' maybe I've been partly cloudy, maybe I'm the chance of rain
And maybe I'm overcast, and maybe all my lucks washed down the drain
I've been thinking 'bout everyone, everyone
You look so lonely
But when I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
I see someone else
When I look at the stars
The stars, I feel like myself
Stars lookin' at our planet, watching entropy and pain
And maybe start to wonder how the chaos in our lives could pass as sane
I've been thinking 'bout the meaning of resistance, of a hope beyond my own
And suddenly the infinite and penitent begin to look like home
I've been thinking 'bout everyone, everyone
You look so empty
But when I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
I see someone else
When I look at the stars
The stars, I feel like myself, yeah
Stars...
Stars...
Everyone, everyone
We feel so lonely
Everyone, yeah, everyone
We feel so empty
When I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
When I look at the stars
I feel like myself
When I look at the stars
The stars, I see someone
A truly uplifting song. The lyrics remind you of the possibility and purpose of life.
