In 2014 my dad was diagnosed with leukemia. Everyone said to let him pass. I fought for him to be treated and God have me another nine months with him. This song helped carry me through it all.
Leaving a comment to represent the kids like myself who didn't have the Dad that fought for them, who didn't protect them, and hurt them the most. This song takes a different perspective when you come from a place of longing for someone to take it all away and be there for you. He is dead now and I won't ever have a chance for it. Treat your kids with love and compassion because they remember forever.
Got married in 01. Had my first kid in 01. I remember listening and watching this song on tv while holding my first child while I rocked her back and forth on the chair. She’s graduated recently from college. Years later I’m still married and my second child is graduating from high school. Kids are a beautiful aspect of life/they make you become better people/you realize your life is not your own anymore. Timeless song. Thanks Wes:)
i dont know why im so sentimental bout this now. maybe because i never had someone who i could call father before. so here i am feeling so envy for your children.

this song is so incredibly beautiful. He is showing that despite his rough childhood with his father being unpresent & abusive he wanted to make sure his son had all the love and care he didn't get. I cry everytime, such a BEAUTIFUL song. It is his real son in the video too. This is what real music is to me.
It makes no difference. Lost love, lost friends, it's all the same. A minute lost. Is gone gone for ever. Stand up and grab the many minutes still ahead of you. Dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening, you'll be heard. And find love again, then love harder then before. No one is an island...... We are one and will always be connected. I'm 70 years on this journey.....and I'll be here another 70 years.
God sent me this lyrical as a prophetic about my spouse to be (we have currently split). And apparently this is how he is feeling. Grown boy needs Jesus. And he's 60 years old come on now. Anyone else with these thoughts and feelings, I encourage you to look within why this person left and to also seek the face of God, humble yourself to your knees. And apologise for what you need to. God bless you.
@@cindywilliams8434 True.......but a lot of the times, it's the father that ends up without custody. Both sides suffer......but men, in this case, do tend to suffer worse.
When this came out I was homeless, on drugs, and then jail. I now have a house, job, and husband. This song and “Clover Cage - In the Moment” are the two songs that helped get rid of my depression. Didn’t think life would get so hard the older you get, and the more you start thinking about anything and everything. I want to go back to when I heard this song for the first time
Yes! You get it. Much love back to you! YOUth & YOUthAtHeart - make sure everyday to give those who you consider your dad or mom, let them know that you love them & thanks for what they have given you. They don't have to be biological parents. Don't even have to be foster parents. They can simply be the adults that have and made a positive impact on your life. When you become an adult, in your own special way before it is too late, Say thanks to your mommy or daddy. "I am safe. You can retire. You can relax. I've got your back." It takes a village to raise a child. But it also takes a child to wreck havoc on the city. Dennis the Menance did it -why can't I? No, no, no. That's not how the game works....
Remember listening to this song as a kid wondering where my dad was, hoping he would show up and save me from all the trauma going on in my childhood. Met him at 14 years old, stopped communicating at 16, and then found him on Facebook and stayed in touch up until his passing 2015. Addiction sucks. Rest in Heaven Dad. I know you were trying to turn your life around. I forgive you.
I CAN relate 100 he wasn't my blood father but anytime I ride around the ole hood it makes me think if I had an issue or problem with a car relationship LIFE I could go see him he'd fix within a day or 2 !!
Father of mine is a narrative of my childhood, and unfortunately this song reflects a large portion of my years as a father. In the end, I ended up with full custody of both my children, met a wonderful woman who gave me an amazing stepson. Things DO get better, hang in there!!!! Much love ❤
This song came out in 2001. I remember I began listening to it when I moved to Seattle in 2003. There was a radio station called “The Funky Monkey”. 104.9. The guy at the station would call out the name of the band or singer and the name of the song. I began my freshman year of high school in 2003 and it was awesome to listen to this song on my Walkman on my way home from school on the bus. It was amazing to be a teenager during a time like this in the early 2000s with such beautiful music. Now at age 36, I can only reminisce my youth and tell my nieces and nephews about it. They’re all still kids under 13, but I hope they one day can realize how beautiful those times were. To my millennials born in the mid 80s to early 90s, I salute you. We were the last great generation.
This song makes me think about my Dad. He passed away 11 years ago, always there for me and my brothers with good advice or just a sympathetic ear. If your parents are still alive, tell them you love them every chance you get.
"When history witnesses a great change, Razgriz reveals itself... first, as a dark demon. As a demon, it uses its power to rain death upon the land, and then it dies. However, after a period of slumber, Razgriz returns, this time, as a great hero."
This song brings back memories of when I was separated from my son. It served as an escape for me, allowing me to release all the frustration, anger, and longing I felt for my child. Music truly has a way of helping us cope with our emotions.
Incredible testament to a father's love. Every note and every word rings deep for those of us who love our children more than life itself, and have been forced to be without them for a period of time.
Absolutely wicked song. I love the video, but take it out of the equation and the lyrics hit me where I am. I'd almost forgot about it, but so glad I found it again.
J0n4th4n H0ugh I completely agree. I love it so much. I was going to write you a message to let you know the latest with the guy I was " seeing ". It's over. We had a chat last night and I finally got the reason why he was being different recently. He has met the woman of his "dreams". Online for gods sake. It was me who asked him if he had "met" her online . when he said yeah, I was like, why am I not surprised. I don't think he expected me to just know. I said, I guess that it's your kinda thing. She apparently lives half way round the world too. I'm not going to lie, he really bloody hurt me. This was all him who asked me to be his girlfriend, and said he loved me. Said he was going to do anything to come and visit me. I laid myself bare for him. I was completely open, emotionally with him. I know that what we had at the beginning was true. That connection between us went both ways. I don't even think he ever played me. I just think, he didn't think. He was actually surprised that I was so hurt and was kinda cutting with him. Like after all we had talked about and he tells me that and he expects me to be all smiles and "no problem". He said he never wanted to stop talking to me. I was like are you for real? Yeah, I'm gonna be able to chat away with you while you're telling this new girl all the things that you said to me. C'mon, for fucks sake! How can I be all buddy buddy with him while I still feel something for him? I cried so hard and for so long last night. But I feel like it did me the world of good, cause I feel a lot better today. I know I won't forget him in a long time, like, as someone I used to know. But as for my feelings, at least we didn't actually meet. That would've been a lot tougher to deal with. I'll be fine though. It's just another crack in my already shattered heart. I'll just patch it up and move on. The way I learned to do a long time ago. I just wanted to say a big Thankyou for being there and being a great friend, I really appreciate it. Sorry for this being a huge 'essay' lol :)). I hope you're doing well as well? I'm lucky to have you (and a few others on here, too)as a friend who is honestly on my side. As I am with you and (my other friends) :)
Julie Fox I know how u feel I've just finished with a girl who don't live half way round the world but I fell in love with her although I'd never met her so I kinda guess how u feel I miss her conversation so much

I know. and life and marriage aren't like we were made to believe growing up. I went thru the same, but to stay together would have been worse for my little boy. as he got older, he learned to understand better. good luck🙏
The lead singer actually wrote this about his son, but this song expressed exactly how I felt about my wife. In fact, I sang this to her and proposed to her shortly afterwards. And we are still together today. Thank you guys. I owe you, truly.
This song means so much to me, I lost my father at a young age & seeing this music video with the kid always makes me cry & think of my dad. He put me on this whole wave of music & I still miss him. Suicide to me was always a selfish move but I forgive him. Shout out to everyone else who uses music to deal with pain.
I hope your in a better place now. As a father who’s battled various bouts of depression and suicide attempts I feel your pain but I can also understand your dads pain too. Be strong 👍🏼
My guy, I hope you are good. I'm sorry for your father - that life overcame him - but I hope you will amplify his strength and be stronger. Sometime as men we get put in what we perceive are unwinnable situations. Sometimes even in situations where it seems it would be better if we were gone. Life is hard. I hope all men - and all fathers - can persevere.
My dad used to always blast this on the way to give me back to my mom and I’m here to appreciate the fact he won me back he paid every penny for lawyers to the point he went back to live with my grandma so every paycheck went to get me
That's ironic, I always blasted it on the way to take my daughter back, as well. She is 14 now. I have had custody for the past 4 yrs. She is a straight A student now.
I’m 49 years old, I have to say that the more I listen to the music from 1992-1999 , in my opinion these are some of the best singles ever written . Scratchy Rock
I admire the Americans that have their flag on their veranda, if we had the union flag or St George cross out here in the UK we'd be called racist or chav, God help Europe..
i lived in a single mother based home and it was really bad with abusive boyfriends and my dad wasnt really in my life as much till my teens and it sucks thinking about
That's how it makes me feel too, I recently just went through a break up and music like this has helped me through it and to forget about it. This music and A Flock of Seagulls music helps me a lot, I just focus on school and forget about the whole thing.
Hell, it hit hard when I was a 14 year old runaway. I remember bawling my eyes out watching the vid, wondering why my parents didn't care about me. 🥲 I'm in my 30s now, still wondering. I now have a toddler & definitely see him in the young boy in the vid. So now it's ✨layered✨ emotions lol
I used to love this song as a teenager. Years on and being a father of two little girls, I love this song and understand it on another level. I know what it's like to miss your children intensely, your world turns upside down. And the pain.... Jesus Christ, the pain.
I agree with ShadowzZ91. I have daughters also. This song makes Me think about My 1st daughter. She was taken to another state when She was 2 & a half years old. The pain of that You don't ever get rid of..... She's older now. I had a stroke and forgot that pain for 20+years. I heard this song by chance on the radio on My way into dialysis and had to find this video. The pain has returned. I remembered how I felt when My daughter was taken from Me....... A Father's Love.
trust in the blood of Jesus and you'll be saved, and see greater things in eternity love you bro and ill pray for you and your family have hope you will make it out of the pain I promise

Good luck to all the dads out there fighting for their kids! We used to jam this song when I’d pick her up on my weekends before I got custody, she mentioned hearing it a few weeks ago and realizing what it was about
Reminded of this video from back in the day. After watching it, i just now I contacted my dad who I've not spoken to in 8 years, neither of us remember the reason. I'm not ashamed to admit we both welled up a bit. Arranged to see him this Friday.
Thanks for the replies. I've seen him twice since. It's not like the movies where the reconciliation is swift and butterfly laden. I told him he hasn't been the best dad but then I probably haven't been the best son either. We don't have that much in common but it is good to finally be settling in to a semblance of comfort with him. We have also set some ground rules down to make sure this sort of thing never happens again. The primary thing being communication. To any of you currently not on speaking terms with someone, sometimes the best thing to do is to bite the bullet, be the mature one and see what *you* can do....at least that's my humble take on it.
Huge congrats on getting back together with your dad. My dad died before we could re conciliate. This song and video touch a beautiful place in all of us, I think who understand what loss is about. I lost my partner in an unwanted divorce and the video of course reminds me so much of those times and how sometimes, love continues no matter what happens. Powerful stuff. Best wishes. Dasten

❤.I miss my husband so much. I wonder how life would have been if he hadn't suddenly passed. It was so unexpected and shocking. We were each others best friend for 23 years together. You never get over that. Life goes on, people change and come and go. You deal with the grief as best as you can but if there is real love the pain of the loss lessens. Listening to this song gives me a sick feeling in my stomach and I cry but I still listen and remember.
Hearing it as a kid and loving the sound. Then, Growing up, having a son and the message really hitting you makes you fall in love with the song all over again.

Yes!

That's being a great son! Thankyou!
58 years old and I never called someone dad. The greatest sound I hear now is when my own kids call me dad.

Listening to this song gives me a sick feeling in my stomach and I cry but I still listen and remember.

Why isn't this music around anymore. Such amazing lyrics and emotion.
Hearing it as a kid and loving the sound. Then, Growing up, having a son and the message really hitting you makes you fall in love with the song all over again.

It's so crazy I'm going through the same thing
Agree with you bud it just hits different 👌
First heard it when I was 14, loved it immediately. Now I'm 34 with a young daughter, I can't finish watching the video without shedding a tear. Like damn I will do everything just to give my kid a beautiful life.
