I lost my wife this year this past March. Cancer. 37 years of marriage. My best friend by far. I spent three months trying to decide how to keep going. Then, somehow I decided to see about seeing Collective Soul in concert after listening to Run. Then there was Switchfoot touring with them. I knew a couple of their songs mainly from Pandora, but that was about it. So, in order to prepare for seeing them with Collective Soul, I started listening. And I was floored. Never in my life have I found such relevant music for me. Song after song. It's like I wasn't supposed to find them until now, in 2022, when I needed them most. What a blessing.
I lost my best friend/wife of almost 22 years December 25 of 2015. Had a 14 year old and a 17 year old. If it weren't for the greatest therapy of all, music, we would have had such despair! My daughters immersed themselves with music with school and personal life. But of course without my faith, I'd be a basket case. So thankful for these artist that help us keep focus! Hang in there my brother!

@@tammy7472 thank you, Tammy. I'm very sorry for your loss. Losing a child, including adult children, is difficult to process, and especially when it seems preventable. We lost our oldest daughter almost 6 years ago to addiction. My wife and I were raising her 4 kids. Now it's just me trying to do it. We had each other to get through it, though. Unexpectedly, losing my wife has been worse for me. Way worse.

Feeling like I don’t belong in this crazy world today. I’m a pretty joyful person, and people give me bad looks for it and avoid me, as if my cheer is a disease. Makes me weary. Breathing in, breathing out, refocusing on the One I love and live for, and clinging to this song. This is my anthem today. My elder brother would blast their songs when he was in college & I was just a pre-teen.

There's a few switchfoot songs that do this, but this one in particular makes me feel something indescribable. I always cry when I listen to this song, it strikes so deep that I can't listen to it too much because I can only handle so much of the feelings. They are something truly special. This song is something truly special.
I wept for the first time in years listening to this song today. It wasn't the song that made me weep, life made me weep. I guess listening to this music helped validate the tears. These words convinced me I wasn't weak. Its comforting to know life confuses us all and neither of us are alone in this bedlam.
Yeah it's the anointing on the writers, they have a real gift for song crafting and reaching people. God Bless Switchfoot.

I grew up playing in garage bands and loving the rock music of the 70's. Until recently, my workout playlist was mostly Van Halen and Sammy Hagar. But then I discovered Switchfoot. If these guys had gotten playtime on secular radio stations, they would be one of the biggest bands ever. Now my playlist is dominated by songs like, Wild Horses, Mess of Me, Ammunition, The Sound, The War Inside, Meant to Live, and on. Switchfoot ROCKS! And, they rock with a message.
Absolutely agree! Switchfoot is my go-to band for running the track and the trail with intensity and intention.

And it's the right song to end with, too. Much rather be left with this at the end of a night than Meant to Live... I've always loved that Switchfoot chooses some of their most meaningful songs to play live rather than just their most popular ones. One of my favorite bands to see live.
Something always seems to hit me really hard during their live shows. Whether it's when they announced that Romey beat his cancer, or at the last Bro-Am when a flock of seagulls flew overhead during Needle & Haystack Life and it reminded me of the Hello Hurricane album cover, something always seems to make me shed a couple tears.
This song touches my soul every time I hear it. And live is even better - it is a very spiritual experience.
These days people are lot more into electronic music, Rap. Bands like Switchfoot makes me realise the amount beauty this world has. I love these guys. They are really nice people and good musicians.

I've always thought of this song as Jon Foreman's great summation of his life and career, the song he'll be singing on his deathbed. It's a beautiful tribute.
This song has been my anthem since my grandfather passed away last December. It perfectly describes his state of mind, during his life and right before the end. He was longing to meet the Lord whom he had so gracefully served.
Then 2020 turned its ugly head, and we all know what happened. It feels like we're nearing the end, and Where I Belong has continued to be a source of comfort, encouragement and support. Thank you so much, Switchfoot, for this magnificent song!

This song always reminds me of my mom who I lost in 2011 from cancer. I can’t help but cry every time this song comes on (even when I see them play it live!). Mom, this ones for you! I miss you and love you so much!

The truth in these words makes me feel like the pain and struggles of myself & my loved ones are understood... even shared, at least by this band. I think these guys really know; they really feel like we all feel. So good.
When I listen to this song, I just remember the time I used to go to work early in the morning (2013), I had to be at the bus stop at 4.45 am to take the bus (418). It was dark and the crowd in the bus was just annoying. But just after leaving the bus terminal, the bus used to drive up a hill of another neighborhood. So a girl would get into the bus. She was so beautiful, with brown eyes, a short black hair and a magic smile. So everything that was terrible, depressive and sad turned into a paradise. I loved that time so much. What a happiness getting up too early to see that girl. Unfortunately, after some months, I moved to another state and did not see her since then. So I dedicate this part for her: "And when I reach the other side

Great end to a well thought out album - this last song looks at heaven as the place we belong, giving the other side of the argument laid out in the first track, Afterlife, wrapping up the 'Vice Verses', the binaries of life
...this band continues to heal me.

Switchfoot has made an impact in my spiritual life. I love the fact that they can sing and make sense to this life in there lyrics. My hope is that I’m able to stand when my time comes, I’m dealing with a lot of issues. But I’m not giving up, my hope is in The Risen one. Pray for me as I continue to walk out my faith. Your prayers mean much. Thank you switchfoot for continuing to stand for Jesus. He is coming soon. Let’s hope that he will come soon for his church, Praise Jesus!

I felt the vibrations in my body
This is was me and my dad’s favorite band. Jon Forman came to play at our church vineyard one time. Nicest guy he stayed afterwards just walking Around talking with people. The only words my dad could muster up to John was i raised my kids on all your music. He died last year right when my wife Became pregnant. Now I’ll raise my son on this thanks for all the inspiring music you guys have impacted my life greatly!
Heaven is where we belong
I shared these moments with my best friend while we were in college 8 years back when we discovered this song and this band. Since then a lot has changed and we have grown a lot together. He is still my best friend, but he has moved to a different continent altogether, is married now and is soon planning to have kids for which I am also very excited. Thanks to the wonders of video-calling apps, we are able to talk almost every day or so and can share our life stories with him and his family. We even attended a Switchfoot concert together after 2-3 years of graduating because that's how much this band and this song mean to us.
But still whenever I listen to this song, it takes me back to those days when we both were in our dorms, were carefree for the world, were always humming and singing this together or even simply enjoying this song in silence while we were finishing our assignments. This song makes me realize how lucky I am to have gotten a fucking best friend like that in my life. This song reminds me that there are things in life that will always keep on changing but there are some other things as well that will never change no matter how tough it gets. Hold on to those things. It will be worth all the efforts!

I had never heard Switchfoot before except songs here and there on the radio. They opened with this song when opening for NEEDTOBREATHE this Friday and it touched something elemental within me. It only took about ten seconds of following the lyrics and the powerful choir vocals to realize how special of a song it was. Now reading the lyrics while listening from home, it just means even more.
I’m probably going to be purchasing this album and a few more as a result.
