      Just after I created this video, Lightburn released an update that had a tool that will do all the math for you. "Taper Warp" is in the Laser Tools menu. My video is to relevant because is explains what needs to happen and why. But the new Taper Warp takes a lot of the math out of it.

    Thank you. You made an otherwise complex concept very simple to understand. And, more importantly, a concept we can employ in our own shops.

    I thought that was going to be difficult but the way you explained it seems fairly easy; I can't wait to utilize these tips.

      Thanks. This math works for anything you're engraving on a cylinder. Tumblers, bamboo, etc. You may or may not have to account for the taper.

    LightBurn now has a Taper Wizard. I'll compare what you've done here and compare.
    Thanks for sharing your specifics on location. Really helps.!

      I released this video a few weeks before Lightburn released V1.5 with the new Taper Warp tool. I've tested it against my technique, the results were practically identical. The warp tool is doing all the same calculations. You simply have to input the variables. I have no proof of course, but part of me thinks Lightburn seen my video and created the calculator based on my theories. But it really just math.

    Hi Steve great tutorial!! I see that you did not mention anything regarding adjusting the rotary unit settings (rollers rotation)based on the tumbler circumference!

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  10 місяців тому +1

      That is correct. You may need to do that with other machines. But I believe that since I'm using the median circumference, I measured where the center of the logo will be located, plus ask the other measures being taken you don't need to. The photo on the video thumbnail shows this works.

    Can you please tell us what coating you sprayed on the glass prior to engraving? I like the white but, I'm not sure what's the best way to get that look.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  10 місяців тому +2

      Andy my "Top Secret" glass prep is very difficult to use. I purchased it a year ago and I have hardly put a dent in my supply. Here is a link to the item I purchased. amzn.to/47GsyFC I get great success with this. You should know I have not had the same success with other similar products. After doing the research there are different types of adhesives. I have had the most success with Rubber Adhesives. What I really like is the ease of use. No drying time. Peal and stick. Straight to laser.
