If you saw them on the street, you might think it was a dad taking his son for a ride on a homemade tandem. Fair play to both Connor and Hank for getting so far on it.
The funniest vid GCN has ever done. When I wasn’t laughing I was grinning like an idiot - loved it! Well done lads What you might lose sight of is the fact that 99% of the population, “normal” people (not cyclists) can’t do 10k on a bike that fits them. So 90k on Ken the medieval torture device was a seriously impressive effort …and both of you giggling like teenagers just made my day Thanks guys 👏👏👏
The wife and I have been riding a tandem for 20 years. Ours is the proper size for us,L pilot x M stoker. We love going out with folks on single bikes because we can provide such a big draft envelope.
Got any advice for me and my wife? We've just bought a tandem and have found it a bit difficult to ride, and also information and advice is a bit scarce and varied
@@StratoJohn The Bike Forums tandem section is a goldmine. From a five year team: patience is the most important thing. Lots of communication. Bumps, stops, shifts, turns, etc. The captain's top priority is keeping the stoker safe, followed by making sure the stoker has an enjoyable ride. Multi-use trails are a good place for the early miles, without having to deal with cars, traffic lights, etc. Good luck!
This is the craziest challenge yet! It looked like a real effort. Such a lot of fun to watch Hank and Connor, I almost gave myself a hernia laughing so much 😂😂😂
I joined an alleycat race together with a friend on a tandem bike from the sixties. The frame was flexing like hell, the brakes were more quite dodgy, but it was fun as hell. Manoeuvrability was a problem quite often, but when we had longer stretches of straight road, this thing really was flying. >40km/h very easy. I really can encourage everyone to try out a tandem if you get the chance!
A few years ago we hired a tandem in Aland. Coaster brakes, a kids length seat post on the back, 3 clunky hub gears and discovering how different our pedaling styles were! I could barely walk at the end. You have my sympathy!
Thanks Connor, Hank, ken and team for keeping up the great work and having fun doing it. The GCN videos are such a motivator for me and keep me smiling. You guys smashed it today doing 55 American units. Keep up the great work
Loved this video. Absolutely laughing my butt off. I’m a trex!! Needs to be a shirt… a shirt with two head holes and two arm holes that Hank and Conner can share
Riding an tandem can be seen like riding on an E-bike. You're helping each other and that's like the electric assist on an E-bike. The only difference is that you have a longer bike. And you have to comunicate to make the most out of it. For the rest I must say i'm impressed.
Oh my goodness! I should sleep at this time, but even though how the video started was funny, I really respect and commend Hank and Conor for this insane and crazy challenge! It’s not easy ride a tandem bike, especially on Conor’s case. SML for you two and the beautiful GCN Team! 💜
😅 bloody hell, when the random guy passed you up that hill just before the swap. I laughed and choked, spraying in my drink all over the lounge room. Thank jeebus it was just water.
Brilliant, great fun to watch I was laughing out loud! Hank being on the front was surely more aero, and the bit where they were eating Maccy D's in Bristol is a very good reason why motorists need to leave at least 1.5 metres of overtaking space!
Well done lads (and Ken)! Btw as a non-native English speaker, I'm fascinated by the pronounciation of certain names - Berkeley = Barkley and Gloucester = Glo'ster
There are a lot of UK place names that aren't pronounced anything like they are spelt, and that's before you get into Celtic names as you find in Cornwall or Wales, and there's no guide as to which syllable to stress either - usually the first in Cornwall like Truro, but not always as in Penzance!
"come on ken!!" "stop kneeing me in the bum!" "car in the bike lane! car in the bike lane!" holy cow guys... i laughed so hard. as much as i appreciate your serious content, it is important to be silly and light. this was an epic sacrifice that has not gone unnoticed! :) also.... was that the camera operator laughing when you had the chicken bigmac in your mouth, conor? if so... that is true comedy right there. :)
You should try the tandem that Hitch rode with his girlfriend across Europe with. The stoker is recumbent in the front, while the captain is upright behind with a linkage that doesn't require both to pedal.
This makes me feel slightly better about how much of battle with gravity my single speed feels! After all the talk about getting a bike fit, was that really as high as the seats would go?
I wish you would take tandems more seriously. My wife and I ride a high-performance tandem. We both get a good workout, and I don't wait for her to catch up. Our typical rides are around 30 to 40 miles. We've also done extended tours. While descending we've hit speeds above 50 mph. Can you do at least one episode that presents tandems in a positive light? Checkout Calfee's custom built carbon tandems.
I concur. While I appreciate that this video was good fun and I enjoyed it, folks should also realize that modern tandems are absolutely wonderful for many couples (not everyone, of course). My wife and I own 2 high end da Vinci tandems. Fourteen years ago we bought our first tandem after she suffered an ankle injury which limited how much power she could apply on her regular bike. Together, we enjoyed thousands of miles on that standard da Vinci with mechanical disc brakes and gears. We're now in our 70s, though, so this year we bought a new one with e-assist, Di2 gears, and hydraulic brakes. Da Vinci, Calfee, Co-Motion, Santana and several others in the USA make wonderful modern tandems for serious riders. I imagine there are comparable tandems made in Europe, Australia, and elsewhere. Available in road, gravel, MTB, and track configurations, these tandems are every bit as sophisticated as the single "half-bikes" usually featured on GCN. They're not inexpensive, but used ones often pop up at reasonable prices. As I said, they're not for everyone as the stoker in back must be willing to place great trust in the Captain up front, and the Captain must take seriously his or her responsibility for the Stoker's comfort and safety. Last weekend we attended the Midwest Tandem Rally in Ankeny, Iowa, USA for some delightful riding with over 250 other happy tandem teams. We hope GCN will consider doing a serious video on tandems for regular riders - not goofy and not racing.
This was one of the funniest videos GCN has done! This morning I was doing VO2 max intervals on the trainer and this episode had me laughing. Also, today I learned that in the UK you can order a Chicken Big Mac. Never heard of that before until now. Great job Connor and Hank! Cheers from the USA.
Did you enjoy this crazy tandem challenge? 😂 What challenge would you like to see Hank and Conor do next? 🤔 Let us know in the comments down below!
Well if we're talking tandems, taking on the likes of Neil Fachie and Stephen Bate. Just maybe not with Ken though.
And now ride a pro level road racing tandem like we have just seen at the Paralympics.
I'd like to see the racing tandem again. Maybe with another distance trial.
Bike packing trip on this bike.
What about a bikepacking on a random tandem bike? Like how Blake Samson and Martyn Ashton did recently on GMBN? 😂😂😂
If you saw them on the street, you might think it was a dad taking his son for a ride on a homemade tandem.
Fair play to both Connor and Hank for getting so far on it.
Well he did get Hank a happy meal

The fact that Hank didn't flinch for a second while Conor's arse was waving in front of face is testament to his professionalism
It’s not the first time it’s been in this situation, and it won’t be the last.
@@gcn don't make Conor do another food challenge right before being front on a tandem

Pure slapstick from beginning to end but I still think the funniest bit was 15:24 Hank claiming to be 6'2" 🤣

If a challenge was more apt for 2 daft buggers then it had to be Conor and Hank. Pure class
"Dino T-Rex. Don't mess with me imma T-rex". Top of the charts. Reminds me of Cheech and Chong if they traded in the lowrider for a tandem.
Coming soon on Spotify
My knees hurt after watching just a few seconds of that ride. (Aren't you folks the ones who go on and on about the importance of a good bike fit.)
This is more entertaining than Laurel and Hardy. Haven't laughed so much in ages.More of this please. Brilliant!

Thanks guys for this wonderful smile moment. The drive thru segment was hilarious. What will GCN come up with next? 🤩
The possibilities are endless-any recommendations?
@@gcna towing challenge?
Quite amazing how Conor's morale suddenly went up around the 70km mark!
Loved this! Hank and Connor are quite the tandem team. Thanks for the fun. Your pain is appreciated!
That reminds me of a comment about sled dogs. "Unless you are the lead dog, the view never changes."
Hank getting Connor's rear end in his face is just incredibly hilarious 🤣🤣🤣. How about Alpe D'Huez on the tandem? Or...the cobbles!
yes! Roubaix cobbles on the tandem BMX!

At least Conor chose the cushion with the most extra horsepower. 🐎
For your defense at 2:50 the car shouldn't park there ! illegal parking, -3 points on the driving licence!

This is the content I always look forward to :D
Not laughed that much in a GCN video in a while
In today’s edition of Giraffe and Spaniel, Spaniel’s view never changes as they attempt a Top Gear style challenge.
Loved it. Especially the ‘moral’ “you can do anything on any bike” - that is some challenge. But you are so right - Bikes are the best.
It's nice to see Hank having fun on a tandem. He deserves it after what he went through with Mark.
I generally don't like sequels, but I think this version of "Dumb and Dumber" is my favorite.

I’m surprised those seat posts couldn’t have been raised or swapped for longer ones.
Well that would of been boring
They look like steel ones so they could have been extended easily.
But then the story of struggle and success wouldn’t make sense.
Conor: "I don't think we can make it!" Hank (while freewheeling): "Yes we can!" True teamwork in action.
So often stuff like this is painful to watch. This was genuinely brilliant. More great content from GCN
These productions just keep getting better. Are you sure , those cyclists aren't actors ? This was too funny, keep them coming. Thanks. KB
This is batshit crazy and I love it. GCN rules.
This is so funny ... "you keep hitting me in the bum" Hilarious. Rock on guys!!

Brilliant, great fun to watch I was laughing out loud! Hank being on the front was surely more aero, and the bit where they were eating Maccy D's in Bristol is a very good reason why motorists need to leave at least 1.5 metres of overtaking space!
"Never in my life have I ever done something so stupid" says Conor... I think he's forgetting about eating that mammoth breakfast
We believe that their memory voluntarily erases the bad moments in order to live a normal life.
Did I just watch 2 grown men on a dodgy, undersized, tandem BMX, in lycra, singing nonsense about dinosaurs?

What a challenge guys, i don't know how you road 90 miles on ken, i'm sure you will hurt the next day for it, you crazy duo
luckily it was only 90km!
I would love to see a tandem track race !!
4 seconds in -those first 240 frames- earned my like. ha ha. good one boys!

Fair play Lads, that was a top tandem effort.
GCN needs a custom dual-sized tandem, fitted for Conor on the front and non-giants in the back.
small to x-large frame with an aero arrangement
Thanks for this delightful, funny video.
Much watchable vid than any what cloth to wear vid…just saying…the guy selected background music should get a raise!
Big tandem day for GMBN and GCN😂
Omg, I laughed so hard. Well done and thanks. I hope you’ve both recovered.

Nothing like two tandem shenanigans in one day! lol
Now that was entertaining! Did we get to see a crime on UA-cam? 😂 The happy meal Dino 🦖 was gold!
As a tandem biker, I approve this video 👍
Tandem-biking is life ! And yes, when you're at the back you can eat all day long

Bloody hilarious! Surely those seats could have been e gone higher!
The Dumb and Dumber level of goofiness haha! Conor & Hank never disappoint.
