The first week I owned an old Superbase the cap's went pop! and the radio quit. Off to Mike it went for a cap job and repair of the pop! damage. Now it works at least as good as new.
mike I do not work on radios. let tecks like you do it. but I had army big stick that had been up for several years. it had those fibers on it. I stuck one in my finger. it was not fun to get it out. I painted it back green. and it took of the fiber glass.
Hey Mike, I had two of these radios in the 70's. They were great radios but when unlocking the clarifier they would never be right. Seems like they would always be off on transmit and receive by +- 300 hz on LSB. But this radio out of all my radios I owned this had the best receive. But I then went to real ham radios and never looked back.
Hey Mike, what ultrasonic cleaner would you recommend for the average cb operator to keep their equipment clean? I’v been looking at some on flea bay just don’t know. Thanks
Sir, I've got a never been used GE 3-5804G radio. It's got RX but the TX squeals on the recieving radio when the volume of the GE is more than 8 o'clock and it has clear audio transmit below that setting. Also, the needle swings backwards on transmit. I'm from the Philippines and there ain't much CB's and technicians here that is why I'm seeking for help. Thank you very much sir and sure would appreciate it.
Hi, I have a question. Nowadays almost all PCB's are designed using Computer softwares like Eagle, Altium, Proteus, etc. But before Computer design , how did they design PCB's (like this Radio ). Thanks. - Love from India.
A electrical engineer setting at a drafting table pulling his hair out. :-) If you look at some of the early computers it's really impressive when you realize people had to lay out the circuit traces by hand. It's a form of art in my opinion.

Kirby Jeffery Pretty much all radios are cheap these days compared to what radios use to cost. If I had to recommend a modern export radio it would be the President Lincoln II+. Good build quality, performance and warranty. Sorry I don't sell radios, repairs only.

11:00 At D223 traces are cut on both sides. And, of course, you mentioned that a few minutes later.
But is connected on the other side of the board. Remember, it's a double sided board.
