Hello, I’m Francesca Radice, a junk journal enthusiast, and creator. I’m Italian and love creating handmade journals with vintage things mixed with recycled or new modern objects. Hi Francesca, I found this video very moving and very beautiful. At the moment I'm going through a time of loss and bereavement. In November '22, I lost my younger brother and last week I lost a client as I'm an outreach worker. I promised him that I would take care of his cat if anything happened to him, so we now have a cat added to our family because that's what love does. When you spoke of your mother and not being able to find the kind of journal she requested, it really resonated, I lost my mother in 2012. Now you're a journal maker and could easily make a beautiful journal for her but she has passed on. Instead you honour her memory with the one you have made since her passing and it's so beautiful. My emotions are a little raw at the moment but I truly love your creations and how you journal. I'm very grateful to you for sharing them and your thoughts with your audience and journaling community. I've been making journals in private for my family and friends and now want to start making them to sell for others, like you. I felt a strong connection to you in this video and as you say your story is all our stories in some magic way. Thank you so much for this Francesca, it's just what I needed today. Sorry about your mom. It's a meaningful story though. I believe you found what you were meant to do. Everything you create, is beautiful.
I've been junk journaling for almost a year and my creations still look like crap(to me). I see something in my mind but it never turns out how I see it. I'm not stopping though. I enjoy it too much.
You are definitely a strong influence for me. Learning from mistakes and watching others. It all helps.

Thank you so much for sharing your story especially the part about your beautiful mom. My mom passed away two years ago and I would like to make a junk journal ( an Artist in Bloom 😊) using fabrics from her clothing and ephemera that remind me of her. I'm still in the collecting materials stage for that one. You are such an inspiration to so many and I hope to one day be the same for others through my love of making journals. Ciao bella Francesca, I am new to your channel and have found so much inspiration here already. This video was very touching, honest and vulnerable. I have never experienced any other YT journal video like this before. My dad had cancer and I created journals for both of my parents and even though he didn't write in it, I was glad to have given it to him. Your love for our craft shines through you so brightly and I know that your Mamma would have loved her journal made by you with so much love. Junk Journal Joy name now has more meaning when I read that. First I’m so sorry for the loss of your Mom. I lost mine almost 6 years ago. I had a lot of her pictures handed down to me of her growing up. After she passed, I made a journal mostly of those pictures and some with her and I, and her with my sons. It really helped with my grief. Your journals and your style is just so gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your talent and your story with us all. I love watching you create. Thanks again! Hugs! ❤️

Such a wonderful and lovely idea to create a unique journal with our very own style. I enjoyed this video so much. I'm very sorry you lost your dear mother so soon, yet what a wonderful way to work out your anxieties. I've kept a journal since I was 10 years old, in 1970. We had to write one in Grade 5, for the whole school year, and I was hooked. For a while I blogged on my computer, but during the pandemic I re-discovered the joy of writing in a notebook which I decorate with images and stickers and scripture, and it is very comforting. Thank you so much, and no, it wasn't a coincidence that I have found you.

Such a beautiful story. I never really thought about "why" I love to journal. Your journals are so inspiring. You tend to express yourself through them so beautifully. I do hope that when I am no longer earthly, they continue to live on with my friends and family as pieces of me. So far, none of them "feel" how I do about journals. The expressions of my soul. Such a beautiful story, thank you for sharing. I am glad that you could honour your mother in this way and finally give her the book she wanted, even if only in memory. I found that making junk journals was healing for my soul when I had cancer. I am now cancer free and want to share my story too, and hope to help others find healing in it too.

I enjoy watching you and I thought about my story. I wanted to keep a record of what our life is like now. I have three beautiful great grandchildren , 11,9, and 5
They might remember COVID and it's affects when they grow up, but if they are blessed to have a family they can look back in my journals and tell their children what I saw. We're looking up our family history now. Thank you for sharing your story. 🤗🤗

Your story really touches my heart & I am so happy that this beautiful art has brought you peace. ❤ I lost my dear sister-in-law to cancer, also in 2012, when she was just 40 years old. She had been in my life for 24 years & I miss her every day. She shared my love of arts & crafts & she would have loved junk journals! Although I have made some small projects & have been collecting many supplies, I have yet to make my first true junk journal. I’m nervous to start I think? Listening to your story of why you make journals was good. It made me think about why I do it.
I got into making journals because I wanted to make photo albums for all the photographs I have.
I watched scrapbook videos and videos on these amazing curated videos and watched videos on junk journaling. Junk journal books was best suited to where I am in life and where my art has evolved to, but the question of what was the point of making these books kept comming up. None of what I'd watched really helped with what I kind of wanted to make in terms of photo albums. Since none of what I created would matter to anyone but me.
Listening to your story has given me another perspective to think about and that helps a lot.
I do use the journals I've made, I went on a junk journal making binge two summers ago and ended up with over 50 that are just junk waiting for the more that makes them more than just an exercise in making signatures sewn together with a cover so they look like a book.
I really needed and still need to know my own why I do this.
sometimes we create things just to create and then after a while it comes an unexpected deep meaning, both are so interesting to me:) I’m glad that this video gave you a new perspective, and thank you for sharing your thoughts, who reads the comments will be happy to not feel alone in this type of journey:) thank you!

Such a beautiful story. I’m sorry for the loss of your mother. I lost my mother in 1999. I wish I would have written down memories and funny antidotes before she passed. Maybe I could make a memorial journal before I forget everything. I have already learned so much from your videos. You have a very soothing voice. I like the background music you play.
