they need to build a new subway system if theyre gonna push towards becoming a dense skyscraper city
There working on it.
@@antoniahamilton3201 it's already being done.
People just need to trust it and actually use it
I was about to comment the same thing! I heard the rails that connect Randolph > Salt Lake> Gardendale & Garfield > Clark & Alondra would be the new Pink/Magenta Line. Also, they are trying to strike a deal with Orange County Public transportation to extend that same line all the way to Santa Ana. We shall see how that goes.
Metro is slowly expanding, although they won’t see a network that even comes close to those of northeastern cities until at least the 2040s
I Love LA!
Who else wants to see a really tall tower in LA like 400m/1,312ft or taller
Won’t happen yet
@@californiamade5608
I agree.
As side from the homeless issue, that construction ambition isn’t feasible until current earthquake-resistant technology catches up.
California has too many earthquakes happening every year, plus with current technology, there won't have any 400+ meter skyscrapers being planned in California, but there should have a few super skyscrapers though
@@TuanNguyen-uq8gz California hasn’t had a earthquake in a very long time, maybe in the future we would see a 400+ metre building
@@alibarazi286 but we do have constant seismic wave in every month though. Although these wave is relatively small, it can create a huge effect on the top of the skyscraper.
Great video man, keep it up!
Thank you for this post.
Ok i just find exactly the type of channel I've been looking this whole time
As far as I’m concerned .333 S. Figueroa is not looking good into going any further, as the developer is wrapped up in legal lawsuits by the construction contractor for not paying.
I think that ocean wide project that was halted it been 3 yrs that it been dead!
@@Jess2012rocha yes it’s stalled
Bro why u mad u mad over LA? You think San Francisco is better? That a lie I don't think so
Is it just me, or do all these TOWERS have that L.A vibe? It's amazing how a Single building can define a City's culture and Vibe ..
hell nah. LA is defined by its Mexican culture as well as street gangs, the modern shit looks out of place
It has more of the newest focus on architecture. While Chicago and new york are a mix of old classic (flatiron nyc), gothic (tribune Chicago), hudson yards nyc, vista towers Chicago, LA seems to be more of special focus on the newer geometric jenga designs and other newer glass shaped designs rather than midwest and eastern American cities favoring brick and stone and overall sheer height. The pool building borrows eternal x bracing from the original john Hancock design.
But 1100 is still high.
Wtf is LA vibe ? Lmao! Only people from outside of California say this!
@@californiamade5608lol what is a Chicago accent i only hear that from ppl out of state
Thanks for this updates! there's still hope for figueroa centre tower and 333 figueroa redevelopment tower the tallest tower! And of course the rest of this mega projects as well! Hopefully they'll get built 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Great Video can you make one of Seattle Portland SF SD
can you do a mini video on phoenix az? lol great vid btw
I love tall skyscrapers! Anyone else?
Question: will advancements in construction enable these heights or are they just simply committing to building taller with current technologies?
Nice 👍
Why are so many units in most of these towers planned as hotel rooms and not housing (apartments or condos)? Is LA severely short on lux hotel rooms, as opposed to housing? Genuinely curious.
Most of the units ARE planned as apartments. Developers are building more mixed use projects that have less investment risk. Have a project with a mix of hotel, condos, apartments and retail avoids putting all eggs in one basket.
Is the Olympic tower being built ?
Music: Dan Hening - Nebular Focus
omg their voice is so smooth and relaxing
If the L.A. skyline and infrastructure could like how it did in the movie “Her” it would be amazing.
That proves that you clearly don’t value the ACTUAL city lmao
I alway want US bank tower to be the main building in LA skyline

Olympic and hill is now under construction.
Great video ,Unfortunately LA. can't seem to hold to these projects ( well , maybe 1 or 2 ) .
it will handle angels landing but not jenga
@@techreviews1462 That's to bad .Los Angeles has so.much potential to become more ,than what it is .Hopefully the developer (Curuso )wins the 2022 mayor seat.

Why rentals. There should be more condos.
Great buildings, wonder how much it cost to rent one..
Some of these buildings don’t look like they could handle a 7.0 earthquake. The Design of the “Jenga” tower does not look like it would meet building code standards for L. A
I like how DTLA District has sub-neighborhoods
That South Park sub-neighborhood is getting a lot of investment.
Its the most well-known neighborhood. The staples center (crypto arena now) and LA live are in the area, USC/colloseum just to the south.
Indeed, also a lot of construction going on in other DTLA sub neighborhooda like Bunker Hill, Little Tokyo, and Arts District.
Indeed, also a lot of construction going on in other DTLA sub neighborhooda like Bunker Hill, Little Tokyo, and Arts District.
1045 Olive Tower was approved by LA city council yesterday. Whooo hooo
lets go
How about some stunning building tops instead of flat helicopter landing pads?
Are they safe from earthquake?
Haven't seen any of it yet!
Is fifth and hill skyscraper under construction or still a proposal ?
Still a proposal. It was approved by the city but I haven't seen any news on it recently. It might just be delayed.
Problem with Downtown LA is less need for office type,
Thus why most buildings built in past years are hotels and residential. There are currently i think 9 towers being build in Downtown. 4 hotels or hotel residential hybrid, and others residential. Near staples center, 7th metro , Disney concert hall. I think some on the list are canceled or delayed which might mean canceled. There could be a few more hotel towers built. But who knows.
can you name all these under construction projects in downtown LA in details? I'm a junior Construction engineering student in Bay Area, so I'm really interested in the construction activities in California compared to the rest of the world. Still, those resources that I found are not trustworthy enough.
@@TuanNguyen-uq8gz what is it you’re trying to find ?

While I like these, there are many problems in LA that need to be either addressed or fixed before carrying this out. I just hope LA cleans itself up before 2028
They can build everything in L.A but parking
5th & Hill Looks Like Rubiks-Cube.
I been noticing alot of development in LA
I hope 5th n hill happens and the fig buildin
Does L.A. have a midtown?
Century city?
LA is crazy. The workers out here get these towers up in half a year
due to the fact that i’m a structural engineer from literally nowhere university Im gonna have to say maybe 2 of these will be finished the way they are in the video
How about 1772 ft
The idea of building skyscrapers in heavy earthquake zones just seems like a waste of money.
Remember when skyscrapers weren't just ugly glass boxes for the super rich?
Sadly the times of diverse buildings in terms of material and style is gone. Just like every other charming thing that’s got cut off by modern design or whatever.
Why are LAs towers always square boxes...not bad looking new proposed towers.
There used be a building code that if you built a tall tower in L.A. you had to allow for a helipad on top for emergencies. Thus you'll see all these flat boxy roofed towers of that particular era. This building code has been eliminated. If you see an overhead view of downtown Los Angeles you can see all these helipads laid out.
Cause for helipads in case of earthquakes because Los Angeles is earthquake prone
LA Government agencies require all high towers must have flat roofs for helicopters to land though
@@TuanNguyen-uq8gz Hi Tuan, Do you care to give anymore information on the heliapad requirement for flat roofs on LA Govermental agency towers? Thanks.
I'm not sure I'd want to be in a building that was Jenga Style
I'm with you on that one.
Don’t get me wrong all of these buildings are absolutely beautiful and I would love to see them built however, their programs and purposes are what bother me. DTLA doesn’t need anymore hotels, the hotels that are now are barely filling up. They need more housing, retail, and entertainment in the area first before hotels. Putting all the hotels there is no good if all of your tourist attractions and businesses centers aren’t located in Downtown.
I know there has been a movement to get more action into downtown LA, but my friends who live up in LA stay clear of downtown as much as they can. Are there really THAT many people moving into downtown that they need all those condos? And if hotels aren't even filling up, these all seem like strange projects. You're right though, with more entertainment and retail it could get things cooking downtown even more once again. LA is just such a big city and it's spread out all over the place. It would be neat to see downtown continue going through some kind of renaissance, but I agree that it will be interesting to see if and where this goes. And what downtown actually looks like in ten to twenty years.
@@trojanmoondoggie4582The renaissance has been happening for the last 15 years. There has been tons of construction and a substantial growth in residents though Covid slowed things down the last three years.
And a lot of residential buildings are being built but they're not as tall as the buildings on this list which is probably why they weren't discussed.
Future Los Angeles/Hollywood is gonna be incredible. Haha.
I hope Menendez doesn't attack us with drones
I haven’t heard a reference to Menendez in 10 years bo2 a classic
cool video - however, I'm not sure what the demand in DT LA is these days. It felt pretty rundown when I was there a few weeks ago. I couldn't imagine wanting to live there for just LA Live.
new living space for the super rich
Meanwhile in L.A. there is a gigantic homelessness problem and skyrocketing crime that is getting more violent yet the criminals get let out of jail almost immediately. 🙄
Yeah. I want this to be fixed first if anything. I’m tired of things like these being neglected and yet the focus on hotels? Really? But I suppose there isn’t much that can be done…yet.
Nah. Future Los Angeles be like Terminator together Covid...
We need a Mecca tower.
Olympic/Hill is going up soon
What’s the time stamp for the building in the video
Aren't only two of these actually being built? Most of these are going to miss the mark by like 3-4 years at least if they even get built at all.
I don't think many of these buildings compliment their areas and look like a sore thumb. overall I'd rather have buildings and projects that are similiar height to buildings 2-3 blocks away from the original site
Build them !
they should've included two sky skyscrapers on the lot of the department of water and power lot
Meanwhile half of the luxury apartments in downtown ARE EMPTY!!!!
i love that none of these proposals have a New York look🗽👍
Los Angeles must be kept L.A 🕊️🌇
i love the flat toped with helicopter pads🚁
Unless adding housing increases real estate prices, crooked California won't allow 90% of these to complete.
Earthquakes
All these tall glass skyscrapers, l guess they dont expect anymore earthquakes
how far behind are you with engineering?
anything under 400m is a waste of air space.... need to go higher, these are way too short
For such a populous city, LA really should have a more-impressive skyline, and less suburban sprawl. With housing prices what they are, it's hard to imagine how any surface parking-lots remain anywhere in the city-proper, when LA can be such a world-class urban environment.
that is America for you, parking lots, strip malls, freeways and cars, lol.
@@halfvolley11 Yeah, as much as I love my hometown, it's got such serious fundamental issues. I much prefer living in Baltimore.
@@jacobbernard1393 Sorry but is Baltimore a good place? I hear there is a lot of crime.
@@halfvolley11 There is, but it doesn't affect everybody equally; it's got a lot of problems, but it's still got a lot of wonderful walkable neighborhoods, a very healthy job-market, and a lot of historical value.
It's also a pretty friendly place, reminiscent of smaller cities, with a lot of good neighborhood-organized events.
Yea LA needs more skyscrapers it has like 5 lol unlike SF which is a lot smaller and has many skyscrapers. In reality SF is a lot nicer than LA to.
Mostly, gimmicky boxes... Chicago's leaving LA in the dust, SF too.
Chicago is stagnant for a city that was supposedly ahead of its time 🥱
And you have to make 4k every week to live in los ángeles
So retail and condos almost nobody can afford?
LA is a very rich place. I doubt people cannot afford. Maybe you and I cannot. But we are normal people.
Wonder what the median income will be to be able to afford one of these high rise condos? I also wonder what percent of these properties will be available for low income, even homeless people that are all about…oh wait…that’s not possible? All these condos and nothing invested to help those that have fallen so low that they no longer have an infrastructure from which to make any attempt to rejoin society? That’s seems a bit…completely turning attention away from some fundamentals as we look to the future. One way or another, We have all contributed to pushing people down, as we claw our way up. Anyways, just making a point. The future is for the rich, and only the rich.
These are cool, but nothing is really that incredible. I’d like to see a signature LA tower. US bank tower is cool but want more.
Most of recent projects either being under construction or still in planning are for hotels and luxury condos. They should build more for offices and retails, which could bring more signature skyscrapers as you expect
THE CENTERPIECE
None of these projects offer affordable housing, which is what is desperately needed in this country right now. These towers won't be built for you or I. They'll be built to cater to the ultra rich, so that they can tend to their portfolios and buy wasteful "vacation" homes where they'll spend 3 weeks out of the year.
ee gads.... poor la
I can't imagine the what the Messiah is going to build in Los Angeles. Being Los Angeles is his hometown..77
can’t wait to see the county of los angeles grow taller we have to see these other places stand out much more than us and all we got out of the championship teams we have been producing over the last 2 decades/20 years or i can even go as far as even 3 decades/Quarter Century and some/thirty years of complete dominance in sports and we don’t get to stand tall like others….. it’s not fair to the whole southern section of california but okay
Interesting how so many seem to forget earthquakes in California. Would not want to be in any of these buildings when one happens or anywhere near them. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't want to live anywhere near California. These will be monuments to stupidity and hubris that will be compared to disasters like the Titanic. We just never learn.
This isn’t the golden days. It’s the 21st century. Towers in earthquake areas like Tokyo, and China cities, is nothing bad. Being in a skyscraper is probably the safest place to be during a quake. California towers are built to withstand quakes.
5th and Hill tower looks like it's jenga time
#2 Figueroa Center is now canceled.
Before Figueroa Center (975 ft), the same spot was planned for Figueroa Tower (1270 ft). Hopefully, a new developer will make a supertall.

CAN YOU MAKE ONE ON COACHELLA VALLEY /? BILLIONS GOING INTO THE SALTON SEA AREA . NEW BILLION DOLLAR TRAIN STATION IN INDIO. NEW MULTY MILLION FOOTBALLFIELD IN RANCHO MIRAGE .NEVER ENDING BUILDING IN DOWNTOWN PALM SPRING . THANKS .
Ah hello....none of this is going to happen until the city leaders get a grip and address the the Night-of -Living -Dead psycho homeless who have chased all the renters out of downtown. I know so many people who left the downtown since 2018. Empty buildings are the norm in downtown.
I feel like Los Angeles is fully developed. We shouldn’t have anymore buildings that’s taller than the US Bank unless there is a building design that’s somewhat identical to it.
Hardly any new office towers unlike the 1970s-80s! This means very little job growth!
No affordable housing linked to these projects... LA is already unaffordable.. beautiful city but full of homeless, plus drought, how is the infrastructure will take care of all the buildings needs..
Yay, more unaffordable housing!!!!!!
If they really want to capture the LA vibe they need to create a skyscraper emblematic of a homeless tent city, or a giant syringe. Or a Covid mask. And then the upper residents can hold on for dear life when the next earthquake rolls in.
Seriously, all these buildings remind of me the old SCTV "Towering Inferno" sketch: a pencil-shaped building with a nuclear reactor at the top.
I'm a native Californian and I just can't feel positive about the crazy crap this state is doing.
More condos and GENTRIFICATION !! no thanks
Just dreaming ... if the crime goes up in L.A ... they will be neither business nor occupants left for those "nice" buildings.
