He's sure having a helluva time banging on all those drums!
I like that word, Helluva, reminds me of a popular animated web-series floating around somewhere
@@pulsar-_-4504Hazbin Hotel or smth?
That is rather the point of drums.
@@chargerim2426helluva boss, Hazbin’s coonterpart
bro just played a scale
intro to Zarathustra
E-Flat scale lol
Yea
@@tesmith47 sounded like the intro to Niagara Falls by Michael Daugherty to me
And it only took him 400 years!
First time I ever played a timpani, it blew me away how clearly it made a note. It was a pedal-tuning one, so much fun was had changing pitch just after whacking it
I loved playing timpani in middle school and high school, the rolls were the best part
i played timpani in middle school as well. it was definetly one of my favorites instruments besides when i marched snare
It was the only mallet I could play well. And damn it, it was the best drum.
Thank you God Father
of Timpani.
If I may say,
I hope and believe there is a history of timpani as a field drum. They have volume to be heard in the outdoor distance.
In the mid-sixties in
Drum Corps we marched with
4 Timpani in formation with the Drumline.
Melodies within the rhythm of the Drumline. What a joy!
This was before Orchestra pits in Drum Corps.
One day there'll be string sections, harpists, and pianos in marching bands.😅
I love summaries like this just to understand the general idea of something!
"And the note got purer"
(proceeds to play a muddier note)
Exactly what I was thinking 😂
That's what I was thinking. Can't believe I can trust my ears that's good
I appreciate what you are hearing. The note I play is very low, but it is actually purer than an older drum playing the same note would be. We were also recording this primarily for voice and so not focusing on timpani sound for this clip. Timpani will also sound bad if you are listening on a phone or tablet. But I take your point; this low F is at the very bottom of our normal range and, had the note been higher in pitch, you would clearly hear that the sound is purer
Right? I thought the last 2 sounded terrible
Think that's just your device's audio/the microphone in the video recording the speaker's voice rather than each drum
Guy just has 400 years worth of timpani sitting around? Interesting I had never really even heard of these, until recently I saw a video of them playing a part in a classical piece.
Okay, never mind, I didn't realize that these are the same thing as kettledrums. I didn't know they were adjustable though.
Wow! Doesn't every kid (5-65) want to have a go?
The 66-year-old kid alone in the corner: *cries because not allowed to want to have a go*
@@thoubias 66 yo here, drummer since 6th grade, began timpani lessons 2 years ago because a local concert band needed a timpanist. No tears here.
me
I’m no percussionist (I’m a French hornist) but I absolutely adore the sound of timpani! In any orchestral or band repertoire it blows me away!
This is for anyone who says that drums don't have notes
lol no one says that bro I'm sorry 😭😂
@@jaredsons4060nobody says it, but a lot of people think it. I've tuned my school's drum kit when I was in HS and I've had people (including band kids) tell me they thought that drums just had a specific sound which couldn't be changed
i mean yeah, as a pianist i used to think drums had one "note" or one specific sound lol
I apply pressure to my toms to create different notes. I can solo with the guitarists now and it's epic.
This guy’s so fun
Thanks, I used to play the Tympani in the orchestra’s percussion section ! Fond memories, Thanks
OUTSTANDING!!! I'm 45 proud to say I'm still a band nerd lol! I played this and bass until I graduated highschool.
One day I'll have a set. One day.
I love his enthusiasm! I love timpani, too! ❤
Dope presentation 👏
I was waiting for him to say sohawaiifiveohyoueverseenthatshowwelltheresadrumfillinitthatgoeslikethis and then do the drum fill
Shoulda done in the air tonight fill lol
I think you mean phil😂 lol sorry, had to do it
No
me encanta como es que suenan las notas tan claras en una membrana
Brilliant! Loved the maths too!
Thanks very much Denys, I am very pleased you enjoyed it!
*“And then came the 808s…”*
I feel as if this guy could be in an infomercial, but like one I would actually listen to and most likely buy the item..
Well, that was fun!
Going "Du-du-du-DUDUDU-Duuuuu" in my head after he hits them all fast. 20th century fox tune
Accidental slam poetry
Tremendous ty
the modern one sounded like literal thunder. I wonder if people back when the instrument originated would think it's magic
A few people playing old-style timpanis could summon thunder too. The new one is just more efficient at the cost of sounding a bit weird.
Nice!
Brilliant
The neighbours don't share his enthusiasm
I saw thslto Amazing. When is going to OK
That was the greatest show on Timpany cattle drums that I ever saw thank you I actually learn some stuff that and I thought I knew everything keep up the good work on big screen n TV
that looks like a lot of fun
Bravo! Wonderful!
This video makes me happy 😁
*mom*: "practice your scales!"
"But mom, I play percussion"
Good to see Rob Brydon’s keeping busy.
The second one is sick as fuck never veard a timpano that sounded like that
Fantastic video!
Vienese timpani are my favourite. They don't sound as loud as modern timpani but richer in sound in my opinion.
Great.
how adorable
Love this
I would have lost it if he played Hawaii Five O
Thus reminded me how much I love the shining theme music
For literally no reason
Didn’t think I’d see the mc from Flushed teach me about drums.
I was expecting the Rickroll drum intro on those things at the end, would've been awesome!
Him: dialogue
Him after: THUMNG
And the girls gone wilder
At the end was his impression of a giant walking
I never knew Rob Brydon had a musical brother
Congrats on the OG handle
Bro played a banger
Time to buy some Tympanis from amazon & annoy my neighbours
40 grand later
I'd love to see the hawaii 5-0 intro on these hahah
I liked the second one the most.
Man played a scale to show the history of an instrument. If that isn’t impressive I don’t know what is
The timpani, the most melodic drum.
used to see these at Yamaha music when I worked their warehouse
Haha this guy is a person I want to explain everything to me...
I wish I owned that many timpani
Er er er er er er er er errrrr
Bros got 100k in drums and he made a vid about it
Would love to be in that room for a day. ❤
❤️
the second one sounded exactly like the beginning of "o fortuna" from Carmina Burana
Imagine doing a drum solo with those
So wat is the difference between a timpano and a timpani
"I can feel it, coming in the air tonight"
Yeah, but have you ever used a stop sign as a ride cymbal?
The ending sounds like space odyssey 2001
Was waiting for the Olympic fanfare after that last bit
This guy's so funny! I can't stop laughing at the drums! And I thought that you can't tune a drum!
Who invented the timpani
Dudes got like $100,000 worth of timpani
I don't want to work, I just want to bang on a drum all day...
So you didn't need to change sticks for every drum
There’s like 3 million dollars in drums in that room.
Rob Brydon's long lost brother!
That's a reaaallly expensive room.
Most string players in the orchestra have 2, 3 or 4 instruments amounting to roughly the same value! And the wind players have 10-20 instruments of similar value. It is an expensive business!
Hey I play that in my band!
Same!
Bro really plays ruv sound
The history of metal guitar tuning
I would have done the drum entrance to Phil Collins In the Air Tonight. Oh wait, I did that in concert band back in high school.😁
*One Winged Angel intensifies*
This is giving Bill Nye the percussion guy lol
Dream Job
Bro played the intro to Niagara Falls
This guy here with like 12 timps!? I had to fight for ONE after they broke the first one. had a big crack in it, they said “bUt ThE bIt YoU hIt iS fInE tho” 🙄
Did anyone else hear a decending major scale?
as the drum got lower in pitch, and the drum's pitch lowered, and the note was lower, and the drum sounded lower, and the drum had a lower note...
sounds like the opening to 2001
GODZILLA walking be like:
Slipknot would have a field day at that place !!
This is kind of psychedelic
Ok uncle, please sit down again though dinner isnt over
DYER MAKER!!!!!
tympanum or myrinx ?
Que Hawaii 5-0 theme
DOES ANYBODY REALIZE THAT THIS IS A-120 SOUND????
and yes A-120 is from roblox rooms
