That's cool that you're near Amish settlements. We have at least one here in Iowa established in 1846 in Kalona. It's known as the 'Quilt Capitol'. They produce quality furniture as well at Midwest Woodworks...by Amish master woodworkers and also have a really nice general store. So, if you run into any of those pieces, certainly a good thing. We also have the Amana Colonies, (though not Amish but sharing many similarities), also German immigrants seeking asylum and founded the community which is something like seven villages now. Everything they make is of quality material and craftsmanship...from food to furniture. Coincidentally, I also just found a wood music box made in Amana with the same Ruege works installed. And yes, that's where the appliance corporation Amana/Whirlpool is located btw(middle Amana). Thanks for posting. Always enjoy watching a fellow treasure hunter's finds vid.

The Amish are fantastic carpenters and woodworkers! They're commonly hired around here because of the quality work they do. Especially making furniture, cabinets, etc. That's really cool about the Amana colonies. I had no idea! Thanks for your comment and for watching the video. Very much appreciated!

Nice finds and tips. I kind of liked that very big water color. It definitely makes a statement in the room.

I agree! I was so surprised when nobody bid on that. Even without knowing who the artist is, I think it's really nicely painted. Thanks for all your support. I really do appreciate it

Can honestly say that all of the items on this video were really great and interesting 👍….so difficult to choose my favourite…(am really looking forward to seeing more in the next hauls, in the series, Joe!!…..That Navaho vase was really different..obviously don’t see that kind of pottery over here…so had no idea about price (was surprised about the reasonable price!)…Not surprised about the Italian ..music/jewellery box…quality of inlay and the Swiss made mechanical movement…also interesting that the actual music affects the price…love the ‘Godfather’ theme …and the films anyway. Exquisitely done paper cut silhouette pictures…both the ‘regency dancers’ and the and the ‘tall ships’…what a buy for all of them 👌👌 ridiculous 😃…will be snapped up. Always love original watercolours..and that one was no exception + well known artist too!…Have some real etchings myself..but now very rarely see any ( mine bought ages ago). the Amish print is so beautiful.. the landscape is lovely vibrant and has the horses and ploughman in the foreground…also the other one of Amish figures in the snow…so different and charming…your local knowledge really helpful there,Joe. THEN the $1 jackpot purchase was stunning !!…and the advice on bidding on estate auctions is invaluable, I think…and I loved the beautiful subject matter and style…Breathtaking Price 👏👏👏 Well Done!!!( plus the others..for $12 +…😱😱)…Finishing with the still life Oil on canvas and that wonderful frame from Salvation Army store…Although, not keen on the fruit bowl theme personally….who cares?!… at that price…so many people will want that on their wall…pity you can’t see a signature, but wise not to disturb the framing which would devalue and/or damage it. Altogether a brilliant collection of things Joe. …PS good old Dr Lori …watch her too…amazing knowledge…and ‘no nonsense style’…love her😃👍👍….Thanks so much as usual, always something new to see and learn about ..Sue (UK) 💰💰💰🤞…

Great video as usual. I would suggest using a blacklight for the signature on dark back ground.

Some good-looking finds in this video. A couple of questions: 1. Do you find that the type of items that you sell do better on Etsy than on eBay? 2. I have quite a lot of art (mostly unframed), but I am hesitant to list it because I am uncertain how to ship it. Most of my art pieces are prints, with many being signed, limited editions. Would you suggest tubes for shipping or some flat cardboard arrangement? I really need to get the art listed and/or just out of my house. LOL

Thanks for watching! I have sold many more pieces of art on Etsy, but I still list all of the more valuable pieces on both sites. Pieces by more notable or listed artists can do well on Ebay too. Yes, if the prints are not framed, a tube is a great way to send safely and for much cheaper. I will, however, use flat cardboard for older pieces, like etchings or engravings. Just because rolling them may cause damage, and you likely won't find out until the buyer opens the package. Hope this helps!
