Its a good thing I turned to him, because let's be honest when it comes to having the urge to turn, Norm's the one person I would want to have in my direct line of vision. And it's not that he'd be so great to have in my line of vision, it's that it would suck so much for it to be anyone else.
Don Rickles, in my opinion was the best I got to see, followed by Cosby (Norm wanted to say Cosby, but...even then) I was surprised that he didn't at least mention Rickles...everybody else would, and Norm loved the guy. Bob Hope? When did he watch him? According to most historians and his peers, Hope was amazing and the King of stand-up in the1930's-50's. In the 60's, when Norm would have watched him with his Dad? His appearances on Carson and elsewhere were usually wrapped around self promotion, still sharp and funny, but not impressive and occasionally annoying. Carson hated it, but it's Bob Hope...whatcha gonna do?
"Straight" interviews vs. late-night talk shows...you bet. The best with norm was Conan...because it was never really an "interview", Conan playing straight-man and letting Norm go for it...
Yeah they appreciated and understood more than even some late night hosts would (Leno). Like Conan and Dave were the most riotously funny appearances he'd have as a guest, someone else who unfortunately didn't last as long as them was Craig Ferguson, beyond that Dennis Miller and Larry King as well. People like Dave just recognized the level of comedy they were seeing and just followed along and stayed with him through his jokes because they could kind of understand the nuance of Norm's comedic strengths

Holy damn he really played the whole r3t4rd3d/d0wnsyndr0me thing early… no wonder he stuck to it all those years later! The gall to do on daytime TV lol
Through sheer tyranny of will, this man managed to become the greatest stand up comedian that ever lived

"if I've gone Hollywood, I would have hugged you first"
My favorite part by far. Quick
That was so d@mn quick and hilarious 😂 Vastly under appreciated by everyone there.
He said, "... I would have hugged you for a long time."
Regis and Kathy were somehow better than most interviewers with Norm I think. Maybe because he liked them
Good point. And they seemed to display genuine affection to him as well.

Kathy Lee's face when Norm said that he and his friends used to smoke dope - priceless.

Everyone was so happy before 9/11
It was a national tragedy.
Regis and Kathie Lee like him they get him
It's weird how Norm said he'd trouble getting ladies to let him lie down on top of them he was a handsome old chunk of coal
He was just joshing
@@Brandon-tk2rw I know I used to think yeah right you're beating them off with a stick Good Lord 🤣🤣🤣
I think he’s just pretty awkward and just gave up eventually.
@@MrBojangles901 I think it was just a bit, it seems like he just wasn’t that interested in romantic relationships
@@sumthingwickedly that was perfectly Norm phrasing. Beautiful
wow this is such a good bit they did for like a primetime day show regis and kathie lee are good sports
Thank you ChubbyChecker182 for alerting me to the choppy audio on the original upload.
What a twist!
Oh, that fucker!
Little Norm would know in a year -11 days a national tragedy would rock the nation and change his life forever
September 11, 2000 😔💔
Wasn't that 9-11-2001 ???
Two years - 11 days.
he brought up the bra like he promised howard
0:45 that shift to 60fps for a second though.
To think that Regis and Norm are both gone. It seems so current looking at the vid.
May they RIP
Damn, time is a bitch. So stinking sad.
And, sadly, Kathie Lee is still around. (Just kidding, Kathie Lee.)
I love how at 4:00 Norm loved that Rickles-esque move the lady pulled
The women really liked him.
Kathy is a very beautiful woman.
Yeah she gets made fun of a lot but she's beautiful, funny and seems like a pretty nice person to me. She & Regis were great together.
Was. Now she looks like my grandmother
@@jimmyjam6197 when you look like your grandfather you will be praying for something like that 🙏

He's not smoking anything... he's gobbling Xanax by the fistful 4:02
i am sure Norm had put a bet that he can hug kathie "tight" for 10 seconds
It's great because Regis was a tv heavy weight too.
I wish we got to see Elliott page on Regis
Ok Nick
''is that your final answer'' lol
Funny how Norm won $500,000 for charity years later
Check out my collection of Norm Macdonald stand up if you feel like it.
Cool I will, thanks
Nice work labeling and archiving the material on your channel! Subbed. Norm fans are the best
Apparently I subbed 4 months ago but the sentiment remains ha
Kathie Lee looking particularly perky! Can't blame Norm for the extended hug!!
Hey Norm! Quit stealing my moves!!
Watched the Howard stern episode he filmed right before this interview and he promised stern he would mention her bra. And he did : )
This is absolute insanity how was this talk show television… norm gave 0 fucks from the beginning til the end 🙌🏼
6:01 is this the steve higgins like Jimmy Fallon's current sidekick
They shortened it to Love Game. They took the "thes" out!

It's not the same thing? I thought it was a matter of record!
Oh he stole that joke from Kathie Lee!
Which one
@@BennHaze "Down syndrome." Final answer.
Regis and Kathy didn't bring out anything funny and that must have been hard because Norm is the funniest guy that ever lived.
Steve Higgins!
Are there any clips of Norm and Corky on the computer?
When he says about wearing no bra.
only norm dared... makes you not wear a bra😂
