I like the new downtown Markham development however I do wonder why:
1) Since they were building from scratch why not include some nice large protected bike lanes all around the development so that people who live there or are passing by can easily get around the area on their bicycles?
2) Why choose to build these buildings with such ugly architecture?? Just more glass buildings like we have everywhere else in the GTA that's not even really all that goodlooking. I really wish they would've went with some unique crazy designs that would make this development really stand out and even be a tourist attraction.
3) Why don't they make covered sidewalks like at 1:05 where the Marriott does it for a little bit and make all buildings have it? It would make walking around the community in bad weather so much better and hopefully get more people to be active while keeping them away from the rain, snow, heat etc. Covered sidewalks are popular in places like Singapore and Taiwan and I wonder why they don't do more of it here??
Outside of these criticisms this development looks pretty nice.
