This was my neighborhood back in the late 70s when I came to Canada, went to Beverly Glen P.S. for a few years. Learned to drive in the parking lot and my Mom's first job in Canada was at Towers, Jewelry and Records Dpt. Best fries and gravy at Burger Palace.
Thanks johnny I enjoyed this tour of Bridlewood Mall. I lived in the area for 38 years before moving away six years ago. The old grave headstones and a little parkette are outside the upper foodcourt.
Grew up not too far from here. Does anyone remember the carnival/fair that would he held in the parking lot infront of what was then zellers? Lots of rides and games and it was definitely an attraction
I spent a lot of time in that mall in the 90s. My grandparents lived in those condos at the beginning of the video for over 30 years until they passed away last year. I remember going to the K-Mart with my grandmother when I was a little kid.
The mall is on the diagonal southwest corner to the High school, right across the street. TMI - Rush did a sound check/dress rehearsal at Pleasant View Junior High School back in '73. ELO played in '73 and '74.
My family and I use to live at 2050 Bridletown Circle from late 1978 to mid 1981. It was a great hangout after school, L’Amoreaux C.I. There used to be a Towers at the north end. A great A&A record store. I don’t if Metro (formerly Dominion) is still there at the south end.
Great video. Glad to see Bridlewood mall is still doing well. I spent many weekends here in the 90s and early 00s. Loved Burger Palace, Jumbo Video (free popcorn) & the 35 cent pop machine that was in the Price Chopper. They used to also have mini trading card pop ups every now and then where I would buy X-Men cards lol. Also glad to see Rizvi electronics still there!
That's kinda weird they kept the price chopper name when most all other locations were rebranded as freshco almost 10 or so years ago. If it was a price choppers and it closed it may of been more then covid 19 since they had not rebranded it as a freshco
Not my closest mall, but we went there a lot. Bo-Peep restaurant was great. Before the mall was even conceived, we lived on Bridletowne Cir, before moving a 3 minute drive away.
There used to be Zellers at the mall until the early 2010's but the space turned into Target in 2014 or something, but the new store eventually was shut down only one and a half years later. I used to shop at Zellers in the early 2000s. Like some other subscriber said, it has become sort of a local community centre with ethnic store, and I don't mind it.
Thanks for showing all the amazing Toronto places. I've spent 6 months there in 1990 and I always remember Toronto with the desire to return there one day.
Nice to see that the old Bridlewood Mall is still alive. Dropped in there on occasion for lunch while attending L'Amoreaux Collegiate many years ago. Surprised you ended up there. Thanks for the video. Have you been to Agincourt Mall? It's a beauty too haha!
Look for the cemetery next time you're there, Johnny. Otherwise, neat video. Bridlewood Mall was one of my childhood malls but I haven't been there in a long time.
I always look forward to you videos. Thanks for another great one Johnny. Watching your mall videos though I've noticed a small difference between your malls in Canada (or at least the one you've been to) and ours in Australia. Most of our malls, particularly the more suburban ones like this, would have rides or a play area for kids somewhere in the mall. Not talking about play centres because I notice that this mall is about to open one of those - but most of our malls have little rides or a small area in between the two rows of stores with some soft flooring and climbing equipment etc for children to play for free. Probably nothing you'd notice if you don't have kids, but since I have a 6 year old it's something I noticed. Not a big thing, just a small difference.
Went to Bridlewood mall everyday for lunch while in high school in the 70's, lived a block from it. The only two remaining stores from back in the day are Metro (Dominion) and WH Smith.
Used to go to high school near this mall. Spent many times having lunch at McDonalds, pizza pizza, and this burger joint I forget the name of, at this mall. Haven’t been there in more than 20 years.
Wow! You have been to the library that I worked for 7 years! Are you thinking about going to Woodside Square Mall next time? It’s busier and more interesting, with all those Chinese restaurants and dinosaurs.
Nice video but like most people they miss the fact they built the mall around a historical cemetery. It’s easy to miss but definitely a strange site when you see it because people walk in it without knowing. It’s just north on the side that’s facing warden.
The next just as big mall on the same street would be Woodside at McCown and Finch. Agincourt is the smaller one in the area but has two big anchor stores and the district library
development plans were cancelled I wanna say around 2016? it's been a while now actually. not sure why, but perhaps it was financial or lack of interest? in any case the development plans they had for this mall seemed to have leaked over to Woodside square just 10 minutes east of this mall (condos, mall redevelopment) some other fun facts: the entrance where you entered the mall used to be Zellers in the 90s. the mall entrance to Zellers used to be around under the 2nd floor food court. Zellers then moved to the old K-Mart space on the 2nd floor which is now the Asian grocery store (I wanna say in the late 90s/2000) a price chopper used to occupy the future library/social service office, so historically there was always 2 grocery stores in the mall. no one knows why but both were well supported and busy probably because they catered to 2 types of clientele (bargain vs upscale)
Good morning Johnny, nice tour around the Bridlewood mall. I’ve been to this mall a few times before at Warden and Finch since it’s not too far from where I live.
good morning Johnny I just wanted to let you know that I have had a plan with Freedom mobile for $100 dollars for unlimited call / text and internet for the past 2 years

I remember 😊
@@IsaacGabriel-kh5ds I used to take my children. It was great fun.
It’s still there every summer.
yes. Took a friend on the zipper and he almost cried.. funny memory
@@caneast99 The murder machine from the CNE? that's funny ...

Zellers those were good times :)
The mall is only a block or two from L'Amoreaux Collegiate Institute and the subdivision where Rush's "Subdivisions" video was filmed.
The mall is on the diagonal southwest corner to the High school, right across the street.

I grew up in that area. Use to be Rollar World across the road.... good times.
The location of the new Library was once a supermarket--Price Chopper which was closed during the Covid-19.

Scarborough is the best. Thank you for sharing!
I grew up going to this mall. Zellers and Kmart were busy stores back in the day.
That mall feels like an actual community center with some soul.
well said
it's always been like that. everybody who goes there regularly knows each other.
Not my closest mall, but we went there a lot. Bo-Peep restaurant was great. Before the mall was even conceived, we lived on Bridletowne Cir, before moving a 3 minute drive away.
The last time I was there, it had a Kmart, Towers (Woolco) & a Dominion.

Agincurt Mall is dead. It's going to be torn down to make room for condos.
in the USA where i live the malls are on way out it is nice to see you get to keep them longer special in bad weather
Look for the cemetery next time you're there, Johnny. Otherwise, neat video. Bridlewood Mall was one of my childhood malls but I haven't been there in a long time.
It's interesting to compare malls from different countries 😊
I wouldn't consider this mall the best representation of a typical Canadian mall. It's a Toronto mall.
Hi Johnny great video I love they malls show more
Enjoyed the different mall walk tours you've filmed so far. I'll check your channel for more!🙂
Thanks for the video. I like this mall.

I think it was called Bo Beep or something like that :)
They closed Mcdonald couple months ago in this mall!

I remember there used to be a Tower's and Eddie Shack used to sell Christmas trees on parking lot there. That was a long time ago.
Cool mall our Johnny maybe you could do more of these the mall doesn't look that old
That mall is by my favourite neighborhood name in Toronto
bridlewood mall the big metro store ❤️nice rules no carts …. John yonk 🇨🇦 I lived in Scarborough

Are you going to show Agincourt Mall Johnny?
It is pretty much dead now.
Haven't been there in decades

The one day of the week I don’t go to Bridlewood😩🙄

Next time you venture to Scarborough, visit The Real McCoy!
On you're next visit in scarborough can you please Visit Malvern town centre 🙏🏿 🎉
I live quite close from here! Actually, I rather go to Markview Mall or Fairview Mall instead.
I'm within walking distance of this mall.

🥜
Mall sux my uncle usta own that when it was thriving now Itz a dump hair salons & Asian restaurants that’s all it has
uhoh a nail salon , thats when you know MALL is dying
What a depressing place look at all the long faces totally Joyless people
lot of empty stores others cluttered with junk outside appealing to the ethnic crowd what a downfall for the mall
It’s better now, but the library is trying to move to upper floor and the renovation taking forever!
