A great, entertaining hour. I can’t ever remember, when I started playing 50 years ago, anyone ever saying to me that golf was actually fun… And the day we have blame ourselves for bad shots, instead of the driver, three wood, irons, wedges and putter, is the day we have to finally admit defeat and give up…
Just started the video, but just gotta say, I get so excited when a new video in this series comes out. Your commentary is always hilarious and entertaining. Keep it up man!!
You seem to be pushing / pulling the majority of your putts Matt, it's shocking, because a couple of months ago your putting was mustard, come on sunshine, you're better than this.
Would love to see you head down Bournemouth/Dorset way … Remedy Oak, Broadstone, Parkstone, Ferndown Old, Isle of Purbeck for example .. would a good little tour..
Dry January is what’s killing your golf, Matt. It’s by far the most miserable, cold and dismal month of the year - why make it more miserable than necessary? Try ‘dry April’ or something. At least there’s the hope of Spring then 😂
Great video as ever - and finally a course I’ve played a few times including with Jose-Maria himself at the pro-am you mentioned. A challenging place to start the year - looking to see where the series goes next but knowing it will be enjoyable
Most golfers aren't very sharp their 1st round after an extended break. And while I think that hurt you on the greens. Most of your struggles came from lack of concentration, and not taking enough club several times... Don't let it get to you Mr. Fryer. Better golf is ahead!
Come and play the isle of purbeck in Dorset were I play the views are out of this world over Poole harbour and bourmouth bay , on good days you see the isle of white across the water . Amazing unique course every hole has its own character it’s tight and tough if your off the fairway never a dull round 👌
I love Mallorca , a lovely island and beautiful setting. That looks like a fun course that would be more fun the second time you played it . Looks like a few tricky T shots and green complexes. Great content for a person with snow up to my eyeballs. I could smell the olive groves and it brought back some great memories for me when I rock climbed there in 2002. I thought you played pretty well for being rusty , at least you make birdies. Have you read “ The Way of The Samurai ? I read it for mental toughness to overcome rock climbing fear, golf is similar focus but much longer. Cheers
Love this series and your channel Matt, but don’t give spoiler alerts with the thumbnail. Keep us guessing (though if you end up in the red then I’m talking rubbish 😮)
As a greenkeeper I would have to say that the green staff probably place the pins in difficult positions when they know they have a UA-cam celebrity visiting. Not meant in a bad way but just as a challenge and to make sure you play the course to it's full potential.
Another great video, channel should definitely have more subscribers as content is top! I live close to Sandwich so would love you to give Royal St George's, Princes or Cinq ports a go
Love your content Matt. Long time subscriber. I've always been impressed by your confidence and putting. I expect you to make everything. I would be thrilled to hit some of the shots you sh*t on 😆 But...not that you asked, to me, your putting stroke seems to be shorter & quicker than it's been in the past.
Love this in the red series but there's one thing that drives me mad Matt they're BUNKERS not traps, traps are something you catch mice in! Imagine going to a Scottish links course and saying you're in a pot trap 😊
It’s a cruel game. I just went through the high of playing great two rounds in a row…arriving at the course for that next round expecting greatness…only to be greeted with reality. I think we hang on…because we know that next time--we’re gonna be back!
In the red is back ! I will make a coffee and get prepared for another episode of Matty complaining about his wedge game. Will another putter be consigned to the naughty corner ? All will be revealed , kettle has boiled lovely jubbly
My worst brain fart was over a putt and thinking about how much an individual hot dog weighs.. needless to say I missed the putt.. (if u think its bad now wait until you get older the mind wanders even more it seems)
I love the series, in the middle of the episode. For the first time I'm thinking of not finishing, the self criticism and negative attitude is getting to me. What happened to the positive attitude from the last episodes? Come on Matt, you can be better than this! 💪
Would be great to see you play Chorlton-cum-Hardy near Manchester. Legends such as Liam Harrison, Old Man Pat, Mr. Barlow, and eBay Pete, all from the Golfmates channel, play there.
Geez Mathew, this must be an 'Merican versus Brit thing, HOWEVER your midswing thoughts are about Tommy Fleetwood and Piers Morgan AND MINE are about WHY is Ralphie the Buffalo and UGA the Bulldog is my cart mate and not Paige Spiranic or Claire Hoggle🤔🤷 I wedge it right into the lumberyard 🤦🤦🤦
I'd like to see you play Brancaster and Rye, if they'll let you! Why do pros insist on chipping with so much loft? A putting action with 9 or 8 is much easier.
They're usually left when the greens staff apply something like a wetting agent to the greens. The white marks are probably bits of froth that drop off both ends of the applicator which is usually attached to a small tractor. That also would explain the tyre marks on some greens early on.
hey mister fryer esquire ....as always thanks for being you and thanks for the content , entertainment plus everytime .... just curious as noticed you said in the intro edit clips gone from best putter on utube to worst ....hardly the case as regardless of how bad at anything golfwise there is always someone much worse ...and his name is rick shiels ..lol ......anyway im wondering have you availed yourself of the one thing you have as a major bonus over the majority of golfers ? have you watched back a bunch of your putting from videos when you were putting like a god of the greens and compared ...i mean you have a team at your disposal get them to edit just your putts from some of your best days and see whats changed ? as im sure you would notice and might even make some good content ...anyhoo im off to celebrate invasion day take care and give yourself a break sometimes
I think that after 7 weeks without playing you would have saved several shots with a good local caddy even if it made your talk to camera a bit more difficult. OMG just as I type this you are saying the exact same thing. 😆
Ironic that you have this watch that gives you distances to bunkers off the tee and then you take a club that goes that very distance. What happened to course mgmt?
You may have lost the ‘best putter on UA-cam’ title……but will never lose ‘the most optimistic golfer on UA-cam’ tag 👍🏼 This was another treat 👏🏼
An hour long Matty vid, regardless of how well you play, is a bonus for me. Looks like im finished working for today then.
Love it!
Only at beginning of this video, but love this series so going to enjoy the next hour. Happy days
Torture is being at work on a nice day wanting to play golf instead no matter how good or bad I’m playing basically every day for me 😂
Everyday !
Matt! , great round! Enjoyed watching

Play at Waterton park in Wakefield, West Yorks. It was the world’s first nature reserve. Beautiful course.
Great vlog Matt , nice little Suffolk sunshine golf leg , Ipswich golf club , Woodbridge golf club and Aldeburgh golf club .....⛳👍
Another tough day at the office Matt but I'm sure you'll bounce back.
I'm loving this series so looking forward to more from you.
Love these videos Matt
You have the little mini breakdown on the course that I have every Saturday in the comp 😂😂😂😂😂
But boy what a game
Love the ups and downs of a Matt Fryer video, great series. How about Aspley Guise and Woburn Sands GC for Uk leg of your series, great course
Can’t imagine what I would shoot on this course, thanks for sharing a beautiful day in the sun. Golf not sharp but it’ll come in a rush soon.
Just started the video, but just gotta say, I get so excited when a new video in this series comes out. Your commentary is always hilarious and entertaining. Keep it up man!!
That tee shot on #2 ( 6:17 ) - mmmmmbuttery
Glad you enjoy it!
You seem to be pushing / pulling the majority of your putts Matt, it's shocking, because a couple of months ago your putting was mustard, come on sunshine, you're better than this.
Tough day good fun
I recommend trying your hand at Vall d'Or in the town of Cala d'Or. Hilly and a tough challenge. I know you never back down from those😊
Would love to see you head down Bournemouth/Dorset way … Remedy Oak, Broadstone, Parkstone, Ferndown Old, Isle of Purbeck for example .. would a good little tour..

It's great watching your videos Matt thanks for the content
Come and try your luck at Matlock Golf Club in Derbyshire Matt. Beautiful course 👍
Great video as ever - and finally a course I’ve played a few times including with Jose-Maria himself at the pro-am you mentioned. A challenging place to start the year - looking to see where the series goes next but knowing it will be enjoyable
You need to pop over here to New Zealand and play a few of our beautiful courses ⛳️
Most golfers aren't very sharp their 1st round after an extended break. And while I think that hurt you on the greens. Most of your struggles came from lack of concentration, and not taking enough club several times... Don't let it get to you Mr. Fryer. Better golf is ahead!
Team F Bomb! Let's go!
Come and play the isle of purbeck in Dorset were I play the views are out of this world over Poole harbour and bourmouth bay , on good days you see the isle of white across the water . Many many moons ago i played "Tricky Ricky" a public course in Rickmansworth. Im sure you'd break 60 but it was a fun and challenging course.
Come and play Turton Golf Club up in Bolton. Lovely over summer with some fantastic views
About to start watching. Hoping you have a good round 🙏
In the red let's go c'mon Matt let's get it done
Love the channel Matt, definitely learn more from you than most UA-cam golfers, but you need to cart your arse over to Ireland
Love this.
I think you should play Hamptworth golf club in Hampshire . Lovely course
Well with that title, my prediction is +10
Ah, well, just remember that old adage: "A Bad Day on the Golf Course Beats (fill in the blank)".
Another great video, channel should definitely have more subscribers as content is top! I live close to Sandwich so would love you to give Royal St George's, Princes or Cinq ports a go
"Those that can't do, teach". 😂😂
Love your content Matt. Long time subscriber. I've always been impressed by your confidence and putting. I expect you to make everything. I would be thrilled to hit some of the shots you sh*t on 😆
But...not that you asked, to me, your putting stroke seems to be shorter & quicker than it's been in the past.
I can't believe you have gone 7 weeks without playing a course! If I miss just 1 week, I forget everything.
Love this in the red series but there's one thing that drives me mad Matt they're BUNKERS not traps, traps are something you catch mice in!
Imagine going to a Scottish links course and saying you're in a pot trap 😊
You've been watching to many Rick Shiels videos ! Lol
Good video Matt 😅
Matt it's Tough to break Par if you are playing every day if you haven't played in 7 weeks it's going to be a tall task to get in the Red
Would love to see you play upchurch river valley in sittingbourne Kent a course me and my golfing partners always struggle to get a good score on.
How about the MacKenzie course at Blairgowrie?
Go for it
I try!
It’s a cruel game. I just went through the high of playing great two rounds in a row…arriving at the course for that next round expecting greatness…only to be greeted with reality. I think we hang on…because we know that next time--we’re gonna be back!
I love you as a friend so I figure it's four over but if your Detroit Lions fan then I'll go ahead and give you 2 over!
No chipping for 7 weeks ? You are lucky its 13 weeks this Saturday since I last played in flooded/ soaking / frozen / gale stricken UK !
New nickname The Pusher 😂😂😂
In the red is back ! I will make a coffee and get prepared for another episode of Matty complaining about his wedge game. Will another putter be consigned to the naughty corner ? All will be revealed , kettle has boiled lovely jubbly
You know me too well!
@@Mattfryergolf 🤣 big fan of your channel mate. Keep up the good work 🙏🏻
Great video Matt. Have you played JCB ‘in the Red?’
I’ve often made the same mistake of thinking I’ve hit a 370 yard drive 😂
Nice course. I think you will score 68 .
Iand I would love it if you would play at Wrexham park golf course
Will take a look
Looking for a course? Have you played Remedy Oak in Dorset? Popular with the pro footballers, and apparently an excellent course.
I tell my wife that all the time, "you gotta get the head right".😂😂😂
Thorpe wood beautiful golf course in Peterborough Cambridgeshire
Will check it out 👍
Come to Northern Ireland and play some of our courses
Some great courses there. Ardglass, Malone, Portstewart…
Beautiful opening hole. I'm thinking 74
Day/video 32 gonna let me have that flat stick yet
I think you’ll score 76. First round out is always a little rusty. But I expect you’ll exceed my expectations
Have you also played Capdepera close to the Pula Course?
@mattfryergolf how are you finding the new Qi10??
Lmao at numbnuts😂 me...that's my GAME Matt!!
Would be great to see you play Chorlton-cum-Hardy near Manchester. Legends such as Liam Harrison, Old Man Pat, Mr. Barlow, and eBay Pete, all from the Golfmates channel, play there.
Geez Mathew, this must be an 'Merican versus Brit thing,
HOWEVER
your midswing thoughts are about Tommy Fleetwood and Piers Morgan
AND MINE
are about WHY is Ralphie the Buffalo and UGA the Bulldog is my cart mate and not Paige Spiranic or Claire Hoggle🤔🤷
I wedge it right into the lumberyard 🤦🤦🤦
My offer stands. Just ship it over and I'll promise you won't see the putter again 😝
More work to do Matt. That mind of yours needs to keep quiet and let you play. Looking forward to the next one
The headline doesn’t fill me with confidence about getting in the red! I’ll come back at the end of video 😃
I'd like to see you play Brancaster and Rye, if they'll let you!
Why do pros insist on chipping with so much loft? A putting action with 9 or 8 is much easier.
Matthew Fryer in the red...😡 Better days ahead I am sure. Soldier On!
Whitsand Bay Golf Club in Cornwall ⛳️🏌️♂️ real test of your skills!
We often see those white spots on greens, anyone know what they are? Are you using the Taylormade driver Matt? 10k?
They're usually left when the greens staff apply something like a wetting agent to the greens. The white marks are probably bits of froth that drop off both ends of the applicator which is usually attached to a small tractor. That also would explain the tyre marks on some greens early on.
Glad I'm not the only one who refers to myself as numbnuts on course 😂
hey mister fryer esquire ....as always thanks for being you and thanks for the content , entertainment plus everytime .... just curious as noticed you said in the intro edit clips gone from best putter on utube to worst ....hardly the case as regardless of how bad at anything golfwise there is always someone much worse ...and his name is rick shiels ..lol ......anyway im wondering have you availed yourself of the one thing you have as a major bonus over the majority of golfers ? have you watched back a bunch of your putting from videos when you were putting like a god of the greens and compared ...i mean you have a team at your disposal get them to edit just your putts from some of your best days and see whats changed ? as im sure you would notice and might even make some good content ...anyhoo im off to celebrate invasion day take care and give yourself a break sometimes
What are the white things on a lot of the greens?
Jimmy Buckets? You’re a Miami Heat fan?
Matts just divulged why he has the pushes with the putter, dry January, the dreaded shakes
Do you use a new glove on every round?
What are the white marks on the greens?
What is the white spots on the green
Why did you get rid of the ping driver?
I think that after 7 weeks without playing you would have saved several shots with a good local caddy even if it made your talk to camera a bit more difficult. OMG just as I type this you are saying the exact same thing. 😆
Do you know the lottery numbers 😜😉
I wish @@Mattfryergolf
With maths like that your a shoe in to qualify
Not sure its the putters fault, operator error me thinks
Nope purely the putter 😜
@@Mattfryergolf what about in the red with Iona Stephen, she’s also doing a series, you two would be a hoot chasing said red
😂 some days are like that
They sure are!
Ironic that you have this watch that gives you distances to bunkers off the tee and then you take a club that goes that very distance. What happened to course mgmt?
Hey Matt want to come up to Newburgh golf club for a round? Drop me a line!
Is it me or do the tee boxes look scabby for a tour venue?
Hole 3 413yds "PAR 3" ? Yeah, I don't think so.🤔...at least that 4 meant it was actually a Par 4
When I try to give it the beans I have a brain fart,💨
Great content 👌 how about Trump Aberdeen?
What’s the new driver
My math says +7 is not 5 over lol
Well thats pretty poo! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 the comment, not the shot!
What happened to the best putter on you tube claim you made recently 😉
Could have been worse Matt....At least you didnt shoot 85 in Dubai like Mr Shiels!!
+4, no more.
