Hard course, middle of winter. Can't complain about this.
Matt. Half my mates play at The Caversham (you’ll know it) but the other half at Morley Hayes near Derby. 241 is £20 a round. Super parkland with almost guaranteed deer herds to be seen around the championship length Manor course. Can’t get better value. Take a look.

Nice play on a gusty day Mat. Stay away from the pro comps just like Peter should & Rick well he should stay away from all comps 🙂. Enjoyed like all ways.

Matt, how do you feel about maybe speeding things up a bit in the editing? We want to se what you score, but less explaining and shorter time between shots maybe increases the entertainment value? Do we need to see all the way from you opening the golf glove on each shot?

Great course there. Loads of interesting holes instead of the usual fare. Tough enough conditions. I think you were a bit sore on yourself there. Great video.

As a budget course to give a go, have a look at Peacehaven golf club, down in East Sussex!
It's not particularly long, but is challenging! 9 holes, James Braid design, only around a tenner for a green fee I believe and I'm sure my dad and I would love to take you on playing a scramble for the 30 shot challenge! 🤔😉
i have a suggestion.. do an in the a Red but use a pro caddie and see what you will shoot.. if i remember you putted great with the blade ping PLD but thats just from watching the videos i obviously dont know how you feel with it well played on a tough course Matt

Enjoying your field test on that course.
On your back nine (13/14) you expressed your opinion on a very short put while using a mallet.
Here is an idea to return to basic for short putt(P> 6')
I have 3 putters which I will use top improve short distance...
Putter #1... Ping 1-A
Putter #2, Acushnet Bull Eye blade
Putter #3. PGA Tommy Armour Silver Scott model 709
I would work on slow and low ....and square to the path line I selected for thr ball to roll.
Pthis return to basic when ever I needed worked perfectly for me
Try no to exceed 8'long put...
2 to 4 quality hrs divided in 2 to 4 sessions is usually all I need.
Ps... all my putters are cut down to suit me...
Something that a lot of people do not understand why?
Anyway Wattkeep up the great show...Still tooo much snow here in northern Quebec. 3 more weeks vfor the range...

Definitely try to shoot these vlogs with a mate. You seem so trapped in your own head and carry an awful lot of baggage around with you (the sort of stuff you’d try to get out of an amateur’s game in lesson no.1, I imagine - dwelling on shots, dwelling on past rounds, blaming the clubs etc). A bit of banter/encouragement/abuse would re-ground you, particularly after poor shots. How quickly would you have snapped back to reality when you were busy glaring at your putter head after missing a 6 footer, if your mate had piped up ‘I think the problem’s at the other end, Matt’? Your mate might also point out when you’re scoring off the ladies’ card. 7 par 5’s?! Didn’t sound suspicious to you?? Lucky you didn’t shoot 73 and do a lap of honour. 😂. Enjoying the feast of moral indignation in the thread too. Maybe you should do a vlog entitled “1001 Uses For Oil and Where It Comes From”. Still, I admire the stance. Nothing will bring down a regime quicker than unsubscribing from an entertainment channel, because the host mentioned something it invests in, a couple of times. Keep up the exceptional work, Matt, I’m staying with you through the subscriber crisis……

It hosts and has hosted for the last 30yrs the Midland youth champs and in my humble opinion is a proper gem of a parkland course.

Love this series. And if you want budget golf, come visit us up in Manitoba, Canada! (But has to be at the right time of year. We have snow for about 6 months...) :)
On the charisma & production values spectrum we have Shiels with great prod. vals but lacking charisma, Carter with charisma but basically doing it on his iphone, and you can Finch nestled together in the sweet spot: funny, charismatic, with a competent team behind you making it look shiny and nice.
My advice regarding the mental aspect: it's just a pastime Matt.
You look to be playing better and I think your strategy thoughts are good however I think you were taking bthe windva but too much into play, it didn't bseem to affect your shots as much as you'd anticipated. Keep up the great work. I love your banter with yourself.
Twice I've watched this now lol check out upchurch river valley golf course in kent it has 3 course a short 9,long 9 and an 18 hole with very very testing greens and its under £30 a round on the 18 😁
Woodlands in Bristol is £20, Thornbury is £35, with a great par 3 to warm up, plus trackman range connected to the clubhouse, with a host to get you coffee n food, while you warm up..

For the budget course - my course, Redlibbets in Kent, is great. Good challenge, rewards good shots but punishes bad’uns, and ends with a fun risk/reward run of par 3-5-3-5. Kept in great nick, too!

Great series Matt. But please get a weather app so you can tell the wind speed and direction so you can apply it to a yardage book or your phone/GPS course guide. 😊
Competitions - everyone gets nervous. Have to learn how to play uncomfortable. Have a routine. When you feel nervous go through your routine and hit your shot. Anger will kill your round quickly. Control what you can control don’t worry about things outside of your control.
I would love to see you cadiee for PF, that would be agreat serie for your channels.

Most of the golfing community still has a negative attitude towards LIV golf including myself, so this video is a bit disappointing.
Why couldn't you have just played the course without advertising for LIV?
Some of us do like LIV. And adding LIV to the commentary adds a little spice to the video. It is truly a shame people like yourself are just haters . Just cant resist saying something negative whenever LIV is mentioned.
Single malt was invented for those rounds where the end result is not what we planned.
Good news is you played it almost in front of same amount that showed up
Not a bad score considering the weather and wintry conditions.
We still have snow. Another two, two and a half months before I can play I think.😢
So the new putter failed, don’t know why you don’t do a video of a L.A.B. Putter fitting, you putt and read greens well, so a fitted putter with all the tech might help.
The LAB putter is a fad that will quickly fade. Dont see how hitting one of those would help Matt since he is a feel putter.
Please test a wire brush or a club cleaner 😂 hate when you use them tees it goes right through me 😂
