Gosh, just magical! I was 7 when my mom took me to be in the studio audience of NBC’s live telecast of Peter Pan in NY. 1960 version. I’ve NEVER forgotten it. I miss both of them!
In all their repartee and banter they both ooze charm and mutual affection. Their very different vocal styles work together surprisingly well...but then, they are both very great performers.
Mary & Bing together then on Dallas TV show their children are paired up 18 years later Mary Crosby (Kristen) 'Who Shot J.R.' & Larry Hagman (J.R. Ewing)
They're a much better duo than the medley Mary Martin with Noel Coward. Mary and Bing Crosby's voices are much better matched. Bing can sing as well as Mary, and Noel is overshadowed. He's got his own distinctive style. They're a perfect musical pair.
Believe it or not, this was actually a Christmas special, and the last that Mr. Crosby would do to include non-yule tunes. All of the rest would be strictly Christmas songs, including the last one where he sang that famous counter-point duet with David Bowie.
These two have worked together several times, in films (the final number in the medley is one that they'd done in one such collaboration), but what strikes me here is that... ...they're smouldering. I don't mean that there's anything inappropriate between them; what I mean is that when two performers synch-up, lock-in, "GET" each other as these two do, there is a level of intimacy on display that is slightly embarrassing, and almost unbearably beautiful.
Bing is amazing. Mary Martin is a national treasure. She’s one of the most talented people ever.
What a shame that this is gone from our society but what a pleasure to have these recordings!!!

I love Mary's voice and laugh! She seems so genuinely sweet!
She was sweet! I met her at a book signing and she spent a lot of time talking with me. She could not have been nicer!

One of the earliest color videotapes! Wow!
Back in the early 1940's Mary Martin was the girl on Bing Crosby's Kraft Music Hall on radio
The girl singer
She had been the girl singer on bing's radio show in the early 40's and they did a couple of movies together at hat time
didn't know it
Wonderful duets. Loved it.
I love them together!
Just pure magic.....
Wondeful voice
This was a treat to watch..thank for uploading..this should have way more likes
I agree! I feel blessed to see them performing together. 😃

They sound great together because they have very similar singing styles.

Who would have known at the time, that 18 years later, his daughter's character on Dallas would be the one to end up shooting J.R.! :)
Yes his daughter shot her son
Great. Makes me sad when surrounded by the garbage and so called singers of today.
I was just thinking that same thing to myself while watching this...that it makes me sad. Entertainment is so different now.
Plus, most of the contemporary (since 1990s) so-called songwriters and music producers are even worse than the singers.
uncle louie agreed, back when it was real voices and not this crappy auto tone lol
very sad for sure.
In Life they were both…mean and nasty…she was a perfect b……and he was a dreadful father….
