      I bought a CSX last month as well. The gun had horrible reviews from so many people around UA-cam. After I checked one out in person at the gun counter I was sold on it though. The trigger wasn't as good as it should be for a single action but that was fixed by polishing the sear hammer and the trigger bar. I have had no issues with this gun it shoots like a dream compared to my hellcat. The slide requires much less force to operate like a s&w EZ pistol and the metal frame seems to soak up the recoil much better than my hellcat. It is no where near as snappy as my hellcat. I will probably upgrade to tritium sights and just use the CSX for my EDC. I have had no false reset issues after going through and doing the trigger job either. If s&w would put a rail and an optics cut on the CSX and do a better job on the trigger assembly and offer maybe a 15 round magazine for them I think they would sell like crazy.

      @@yrsued everything is built to a price point sadly. Taurus is known for an absolutely horrible single action trigger on their 1911. I think the cost of the gun would go up beyond it being an affordable option if they were to put better quality components in the trigger assembly or paid employees to polish all of it. There are a lot of pistols that can be so much better than what they were built to be. The trigger on my hellcat or my buddy's shield plus aren't ideal either but aftermarket options are out there to fix them. The CSX is at the same price point new but they also come with an accessory rail and can be gotten with optics cuts.

    I bought mine in April 2023. No double reset at all. Accuracy is spot on (I did drift the rear sight to the right a little to center the 10 yard groups). It works best to insert a full mag with the slide back. Chambering a round that way is trouble free. I was shooting at a dueling tree with 6" plates at ten yards and hit every time. It's a keeper for its intended purpose.

  • @kobudo
    @kobudo Рік тому +9

    I’m really thinking about getting one of these and have done a ton of research on it. Check the plunger for the firing pin block. Early models had a black one, and it made the “false reset” worse because S&W didn’t chamfer the edges. So that’s what you are feeling. Newer models have a white plastic plunger that is chamfered. You can check this in the gun store before purchasing by locking the slide back and looking for the button. The plungers are easy to smooth out, and will do so after repeated dry fire.
    The other thing to look for is bad magazines, since many guns were shipping with improperly assembled mags. The spring should go through a hole in the follower on these. That may have been a problem with the mag not feeding the round right, but it typically causes other issues.
    Overall I’m impressed with many of the design choices S&W made with the CSX, but there are a few places where there’s room for improvement. Many of those choices were to make it carry easier or more safely.

    I bought this pistol after telling my armorer how I had been trained in the army, and what I expected. I loved it from the start, I can understand why people dislike this gun, but it is one that my suits my style of shooting. The thumb safety is something that I especially appreciate, the safety has to be removed, which makes it clear I intend to use it and fire it in self defense. I understand others may want an easy fire gun for self defense but in training a safety makes little difference.

    I just bought one of these a week ago. I ran into problems trying (and failing) to take it down for cleaning/lubing. I’m used to a 1911, so I tried disassembling it as a traditional 1911…of course the half-moon cutout is at the pin, and not the locking tab. Nonetheless, I sprayed it down with Shooters Lube cleaner, ran a bore cleaner a few times, then lubed it where I could reach. Poor, poor job. I shot it anyway. Not a single hiccup. Both magazines shot well, appears to shoot a bit high and left for me. I’ll need to shoot it several hundred more rounds to get used to the sights. I needed to aim a bit lower than my normal…but, yeah, I really like it. Need to adjust to the trigger safety, but when I didn’t give it a thought it shot great. When I tried to aim for accuracy I noticed the reset a lot more. I understand that the gritty reset smooths out after about 500 rounds. No where close to that as yet.

A rounds I got from ammoUSA +P, will not feed in any 9mm carbine or pistol I own, expect the CSX and APX. Basically the whole package I think is awesome. 1911 doesn't have a trigger saftely, but has a big-ole heavy grip safety... why does everyone making this comparison for get that?

    • @yrsued
      @yrsued Рік тому +1

    I was concerned about the negative reviews the CSX has received. I've enjoyed my Kimber 1911 and CZ SP01, and wanted a 9mm carry gun. Nonetheless, I looked at a CSX at a local gun shop and ended up buying it and am very happy with my purchase. I have large hands, but switched out the larger grip for the smaller to accommodate my wife smaller hands, and I have no problems with the feel of it. It still fits my hand well and like your pistol in the video, I have found it to be very accurate. A micro 9 that holds 12 rounds is a strong competitor and a great carry gun. I like it so much I intend to purchase a second CSX. I found that the criticisms about the gun's reset and safety are not an issue for me personally and are subjective.

    I was turning off by everyone reviews about the false reset. I finally bought one after a year since it is the only affordable small external hammer fired double stack carry gun on the market. Evidently I don’t ride the trigger down when using real ammunition, so the false reset is not a issue. No problem with the safety since the fire positioning is perfect. Don’t care about how small the safety is on making it safe. My only issue is the SAO trigger should be 4 pounds with frame safety, trigger safety, hammer and my finger safety. I can’t afford a $2k to $3k hammer fired gun. The CSX is accurate where my Shield was never close to accurate even after a APEX trigger and sight upgrades. For me this is the best gun I will carry that is under $1400.

    The trigger reset issue is based on UA-camrs treating it like a competition gun.

      I don't care what other people say on this or any other platform. I was trained at Gunsite to Ride the Reset!! And trust me, Gunsite has NOTHING to do with competition, unless you consider getting out of a Gunfight Alive a competition. If this didn't have a Double Reset, they wouldn't have fixed it, would they?

    Never under sotto why anyone make a review in an active range. Very annoying.

      Couple of reasons:
      #1, The safest place to shoot, is THE SHOOTING RANGE
      #2, I can't afford to buy the whole range for half a day
      #3, My neighbors might get pissed if I shoot in my back yard
      Under SOTTO?? Check your spelling before you post....

      Sorry about the typo - off day maybe. Understand the range part and the backyard part however the noise factor is still annoying when you're trying to access a gun from a video. It is what it was.
      That being said, I sold a Sig P 938 and was hoping the CSX would replace it as I like the compact 1911 platform, hammer fired, ambi thump safety and Hi capacity of it. Decided to hold off for possibly a Gen 2 with a few of the unfavorable items addressed and an optics cut slide. If that doesn't materialize - well I guess that's my loss and I'll stick with my other couple EDC guns. Ruger LCP Max, Shield +, and Mossberg MC2sc, and a Sig P 238 all of which I think are fine guns and frequently alternated.
      Cheers.
