And the greatest joke of all was the fact they decided to use all of this to masquarade one of the best platformers to come out in a while.
@@Enderlinkpawnu Ironically, i feel like this but the exact borderline opposite. Pizza Tower is to Wario likes what Hollow Knight was to Metroidvania. A dev team of passionate fans of the original with so much care and understanding of what makes these games fun that they managed to surpass the success of their predecessors and become a genre defining classic themselves.
This makes me want to give Hollow Knight another shot. I know there's a great game in there but I just haven't ever been able to find the excitement for it. Outside of the Ori games and several Metroid games themselves, my exposure to the genre has been somewhat limited.
Tbf it is very possible to get stuck somewhere if you are not careful enough in Hollow Knight and that actually made me stop playing it the first time around. A year or two later I picked it up again tho and this is when I deeply fell in love with everything it has to offer. Highly recommended Metroidvania with a thicker lore and atmosphere.
@@wizawhat The one major criticism I can give the game is that it has a slow start, things really pick up around the area with the third major boss. That probably contributed to its success though, it kind of needs a slow start for more casual players to get into it when the end and post-game content is some of the most challenging I've ever dealt with, and I play hard games on the regular like Spelunky 2, Cursed Castilla, Darkest Dungeon, etc.
There's another facet to Peppino's mood and animations that I feel can't be understated. While his idle behaviors and powerup animations may be anxious and fearful, the faster you get going and the better you maintain your combos, the more his mood twists into full-bore pants-shitting fury. Peppino is not the villain nor the antagonist, but there is something _terrible_ lurking under that debt-ridden anxiety.
It amazes me just how quickly Peppino has become one of my all time favorite video game characters. I've never seen such a unique combination of anxiety, rage, and unhinged mania communicated solely through character animations of this quality. It's almost like he's empowered by his anxiety, something often considered paralyzing for most. And as someone with an anxiety disorder it's almost inspiring in a weird way, that a source of discomfort and unease can also drive you forward if channeled correctly.
I genuinely never knew people had an issue with the art style. That was actually the thing that hooked me in immediately! The MS Paint-like outlining that constantly moved felt so bouncy and smooth to look at.
I think for the most part it was people seeing screenshots and seeing how crude it was and assumed the game was just as crude. I got hooked because of the artstyle as well hahaha
@@sunnypeach1328 Thank you ^^, again the crudeness and the way its animated so well despite it being very pixel...y impressed me. They took stiff animation and just the bounciness of it all hooked me, then I heard the OST and it was all over...
This game does look much better once you get to see it in motion, it has a real Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, or Booger Man vibe and I can dig that. I'd love to see more games play with that loose, grimy/ugly style again.
3:58 All of the artwork for Pizza Tower is actually strictly using the Wario Land 2 color palette. McPig used to do streams during development and he'd always have the Wario Land 2 tileset open in a tab to sample from. I think it really helps to sell the 'retro' feel
might be worth mentioning pizza tower absolutely had speedrunners in mind not only are there options for IL timers and full run timers. but clearing the tutorial swiftly will unlock all lap 2 portals, something that normally requires a clear of each level first. this way runners can do each level just once in a 100% run have fun getting the john skin for peppino :^)
Nintendo makes levels detailed so that you slow down. Tour De Pizza makes levels detailed so that you have fun, speed, and 413 billion dollars of debt to the IRS.
This video literally describes my own experience of pizza tower perfectly I was addicted (and still am) The fast paced action The pizza packed punch Everything about this game had me drooling at the mouth since the start Every single P rank I earned had me shaking with goddamn adrenaline, never before has a game managed to get me to feel the rush that pizza tower does I dont know what pills i took But i need more
When I first started going for P-Ranks, I was straight up shaking as well throughout the entire 2nd lap. Now it's just pure focus maintained by the adrenaline. I can't help but pump my fist in the air every time I get a new P-Rank
I had once described Peppino as an oddly perfect mixture between Mario and Wario. But Now I see that i'm wrong, he's actually a mix of Luigi and Wario.
@@trouslinabone Well, Waluigi is a malicious bastard who's more defined by what he's not than what he is. Peppino is a beleaguered everyman trying to make ends meet while dealing with personal neuroses
@@aquamarinerose5405 You're giving Waluigi way too much credit. I think "A sore loser that is defined by everything he's not, but desperately wants to be" is a better term. And yeah, I know that Peppino ≠ Waluigi. I was just pointing out how we already have a mix of Luigi and Wario.
Peppino is by far one of my favorite video game characters for how animated and goofy he is. It's so fun to just watch his animations, and pulling off P ranks in levels and boss fights makes him all the more incredible at the end screens.
A fast guy and a italian guy always fight for who was the best, until one day a fast italian guy comes at a godspeed and beat the shit of both on the floor
I've seen multiple Pizza Tower reviews out there, ones zanier than the last but I really have to admit. This is probably my favorite review of the game out there! You explain the main game mechanics perfectly. Even without explaining the more hidden mechanics of the game, new players could watch this video and grasp the main idea! You explain this games wackiness perfectly. I also really enjoyed how you explained getting the special ranks! You put us, the viewers, in your shoes and really portrayed the CRAZINESS levels you need to have to master this beautiful dish of a game. I've played Pizza Tower so many times already, and even after watching this video, you really just made me crave stepping back into that tower again. I hope you persuaded hundreds of people to buy this game with your review. BRAVO ^w^
You can do it! I found that practicing doing lap 2 and not resetting when I lose my combo so I can practice the later parts of the level _really_ helps.
Honestly, anyone looking at Pizza Tower and considering its graphics lazily thrown together at even a glance boggles my mind. One look at the way it all moves and flows and the amount of effort and care that went into every frame becomes SO evident... not that I'm mad about it, or anything! It's just genuinely interesting and strange to see it come up so often in reviews - reviews that are a lot less kind to the visuals than you!
The fact we're pretty much opposites in that the art style is immediately what drew me in and is THE main reason I love this game, and I've not really replayed much in the game because score attacking isn't really my thing, yet still consider Pizza Tower a phenomenal game, same as you, I think speaks to how masterful a creation it is.
love the fact that you start to get crazyer and crazyer every second of the video. loved it, i think you could have talked more about the bossses and music as well, but fantastic video
The music is absolutely top tier. I typically don't talk about music because I like to leave that to people more qualified but this soundtrack is just banger after banger.
I’ve been obsessed with this game even though I haven’t played it. I’m gonna get my grubby little hands on it- I gotta- I mainly love the energy Peppino gives off, because I can weirdly relate to it. The constant anxiety that amplifies the anger that fuels you. I also have ADHD so perhaps the high energy of this game is what also has me hooked. Can’t wait to play this when I get the time!
Maybe the best PT review I've seen, great work man Nobody understands the hype around P ranks until they start going for them, and then it's like a fever you just can't shake until you get them all. The amount of skill Pizza Tower allows for in its escape sequences by adding a lap 2 and the ability to theoretically outrun Pizzaface infinitely (with skilled enough play) leaves Wario Land 4 and Metroid games in the dust. One of my favorite design choices of the entire game.
It actually took me so long to realize that the enemies reacted to your speed. It changed everything. On my first few P-Rank runs I was literally shaking during that second lap and there's nothing else like completing one.
I've genuinely never felt my heart beat as fast as it did during lap 2 of getting my first P rank on John Gutter. I was actually concerned I might go into cardiac arrest or something. No game has ever come close to that feeling for me.
My recommendations have been flooded with this content. And so I finally watched this. And oh my god, I think you got me hooked on this game. And I am *NOT* an easy person to convince. Also, I do agree, the soundtrack is *ALMOST ZELDA QUALITY IN MY OPINION HOLY-*
I agree with the whole “artstyle might throw people off” thing. Im not a fan of these styles so i didnt think id take an interest in the game, but once i saw it in motion and how beautifully put together everything is? Holy crap i fell in love.
Enemies shrieking and dropping their defences when you are running fast enough at them is just such a smart design choice. In sonic I was always frustrated how being fast was either completely scripted, or it would punish you for engaging with the trademark mechanic. In pizza tower if you manage to get and keep your speed? You just GO. It feels AMAZING
I got the game last night, and already completed it, I'm going for my second playthrough because I LITERALLY CAN'T have enough of this game, it's another kind of adrenaline that I didn't knew I wanted to discover.
The art style and fluidity of the animations gave me the feeling of a 90s cartoon actually getting a video game that was true to its origin! Yeah, we had games based off of TV series left and right, but this FEELS like it was a cartoon.
I think that, by far, my most favorite part of pizza tower, as weird as this may wound, is that going fast is completely optional for the most part. the game doesn't require you to speed through everything, even during the escape sections when you've become good enough. you can choose to run through at light speed, or you can take the time to smell the roses
Great deconstruction of the game's fundamental mechanics. Pizza Tower is truly a work of art in the game design department... Also your the first youtuber I've seen to hype up an S rank a ton in order to make the P rank sound that much more insane and crazy, because it is. Brilliant writing technique and I will keep that in mind.
Seeing pizza tower really take what feels like those two last wario land games and smashed em together. The game made me want to go back and play the wario lands. Had a bit of experience growing up with 2 and 3. Never completed either tho
My Review: Looking at this game as an iteration of Wario Land, it's fascinating to see not only what's borrowed and repurposed, but how many fresh ideas keep coming to the table. At their cores, Wario Land and Pizza Tower are one in the same - 2D platformers with tight controls that encourage a keen eye. Clever players who are able to read the level's design cues on enemy placements and power up abilities will be rewarded with all of the secrets and high scores. Peppino can also transform in grotesque and hysterical ways just like Wario, and he's also got a charging grab, a dash, a ground pound and the works. Where Pizza Tower departs from Wario Land however, is how it keeps players engaged with it's core gameplay and how it uses its powerup transformations. Wario's design strengths were in re-contextualizing his base transformations into different scenarios based on the level design. For instance, the designers will teach us in the early levels that Zombie Wario is paper thin and can slip through floors, whereas in later levels we discover the zombie's usefulness as a tool to get through walls that would otherwise shock you. Pizza Tower doesn't do this. Peppino has several transformations that are extremely similar, like Zombie Wario and Snowball Wario, but the difference is, these transformations rarely last longer than one stage. Every single level has some kind of unique design that brings with it a unique gameplay twist. It's not just the levels that change, Peppino changes too, and it's this variety that makes the 7 hours of Pizza Tower so effortless to play through. You're always playing something fresh, and that's before you even discuss the 90's throwback art style or Wario-type soundtrack. The other major distinction Pizza Tower has from Wario Land is it's focus on going fast and maintaining a flow. Peppino would destroy not just Wario, but also Sonic the Hedgehog in a footrace if it meant his pizzeria depended on it. Hold the dash button and watch him crash through enemies and walls at mach 9. It's great fun, and unlike Sonic the Hedgehog which forces you to a halt to tackle it's trickier platforming sections, Pizza Tower doesn't care in the slightest if you're going for a quick trot or a dead-on sprint. The levels are designed in such a way to keep your speed up at all times if you can utilize Peppino's moveset to the fullest. In classic Wario fashion, however, there's no punishment for taking your own pace and searching out all the secrets if you choose to do that instead. It's incredible fun to try and balance the two play styles to where you move very fast, but not so fast that you end up crashing head-first into every wall. Pizza Tower is ingenious, and it really is a wonder why nobody else has tried to copy the Wario formula in 25 years. It's a goldmine of untapped potential, and Pizza Tower proves the point with excellent craftsmanship. It's fun, clever, exhilarating, hysterical, unhinged, and AGGRESSIVELY weird. Wario himself would be proud, and I really do hope this marks the beginning of taking Wario's design philosophies and expanding them to other fresh ideas and genres.
I haven't played Pizza Tower yet, but based on all of the footage and talk I've heard of it it has struck me as a combination of the Wario Land games and the Tiny Toons SNES game which I haven't seen mentioned much ever but I had a blast with as a kid. Loved hearing you get so fired up over this game. I'll need to give this a go one day.
I dare say. That Pizza Tower is as big as of a hit as Angry Birds. I just hope that the group that made this game doesn't end up like Rovio... Cuz they milked the everliving fuck out of Angry Birds and made it absolutely lifeless and a cashgrab.
If the gameplay and art style wasn’t enough to make this game a 11/10, the music and sound design are so uncannily amazing. The style of their music is something so few games tapped into, and have made so many iconic bops, main examples being both of the lap songs, but what I believe to be the Magnum Opus, is the final battle and the music right after that. Seriously, those two songs alone are some of the best performances of music in a video game I’ve ever played, and you can tell they have had love poured into every note. I barely even mentioned how good and satisfying the sound design is. It’s the perfect cherry on top for this game
i beat pizza tower and i heard of p ranks so i tried to get my first one and i got it on the first boss and i used the no sugar coating it strat and it felt so good then after i beat the game i got my first level p rank that felt even better to get
Pizza Tower's style isn't "ugly" it's "greasy". That's why it works. Not only does it invoke of similarly styled 90's cartoons and early 2000's flash, but it also ties into concept. Of COURSE Pizza is greasy, so of COURSE a game based around Pizza SHOULD be greasy. It says "Remember the 90's? WELL HERE YOU FUCKING GO!" and throws a pizza at your face from your favorite childhood Pizza parlor. In an age of gentrification of art, something like Pizza Tower shows that art styles from the past still can work in the modern day.
First of all, its a very good video, and its make me fall in love with pizza tower again, even if i play it only for short time. I love the artstyle there, i love the animations, i just watched these animations and sprites for some time and it made me want to FEEL that game. Everything about it game make you want to PLAY to FEEL it my yourself. Its so wonderful. Its so.. Unique. I love this game. But, also, sometimes i feel like i felt in love with this game also because of it's protagonist, Peppino. He is so emotional, not only anxious and angry (he also showing happiness and smugness, and his taunt poses, come on), but just REALLY emotional. And he isnt a savior! He isnt a hero! He is just a dude. He is "ugly" at some parts even (like, he isnt a Beauty TM, he is probably have a lot of mental illness, and etc and etc), but he feels so Relatable in some way. Its so nice to play and to watch him. Its like you're connecting and relating to him really easily and this making you feel in love with Pizza Tower even faster. I love him. I love how he is joking at player in D rank, or how he is screaming from happiness at S eang, or how wild he goes at P rank. God. He is so silly but also so wonderful. He isnt perfect, he has a lot and lot flaws, but he is wonderful. And its what makes him so nice for me, because he is just a human, not a savior or Hero TM.
The euphoria I felt after getting P rank on John Gutter, I swear if I was alone in the house I would have screamed so loud that the neighbors would have to check up on me.
S rank just needs Lap 2 and a good skill level. P rank requires everything, Good knowledge of the level, a combo during the whole run, and collect all the toppings and secrets.
I don't know why no one's mentioning this but he got the s and p rank requirements backwards. You get the s rank by doing everything + lap 2. P rank is everything + lap 2 and a combo.(unless im wrong)
As an insane pizza tower fan begging my friends to play it every day, I would like to say, that you guys should fricking play fricking pizza tower. Believer EVERYTHING THIS MAN SAYS. THIS GAME IS AMAZING. MY BALLS WERE SWEATING WHEN I GOT THAT P RANK TO MAN. I GET IT. I TOOK THE PILL AND NOW I CAN’T STOP. HELP ME PLEASE I CAN’T STOP. Fr tho buy it. You know you want to.
i remember my first p rank, i was in a vc with my friend streaming, and i just started going bonkers, murdering everything, running at supersonic speeds, GETTING THE LAP 2, AND WHEN I SAW THAT PURPLE P RANK INDICATOR NEXT TO THE SCORE, I WENT CRAZY. SCREAMING IN EXITMENT AS I BARELLED THROUGH EVERYTHING TO GET TO THE END. and i did it.
This is exactly how I felt and currently feel about the game. Im not a huge fan of overtly difficult games (besides Doom Eternal 😅). So when I first played pizza tower, I couldn't get into the mechanics. The art style wasn't really an issue, frankly I liked it, I just couldn't get into the game until I forced myself to keep going, and then, everything clicked together in the most satisfying way. Going back to Wario or Sonic after playing this doesn't feel the same.
( 10:22 ) Also, I'm not sure if this was mentioned or if you know this, but Peppino has no speedcap. He will continue to accelerate infinitely, forever! Therefore, that technically makes him the fastest character ever in a game.
It took me so long to find this video after not listening to it for a year that I'm kind of upset that it doesn't have more views. This is the perfect review of Pizza Tower in my opinion, perfectly matching the slow pace that builds into a manic madness as the timer runs down. I'm favoriting this video, liking, commenting, ANYTHING to get this video more visible to the unholy algorithm. WATCH "I'M PIZZA TOWER PILLED!"
9:11 WTF Pizza tower doesn't even have momentum its sprint phases (mach1,2,3,4) So how in the hell you compare it to sonic games looks like you did not even played any sonic game ever
3:03 Personally, I'd say Peppino is more in common with Courage the Cowardly Dog: A reluctant hero known for being terrified and anxious at the many strange things around him.
To be honest, this game is so incredible I finished the game with everything P-RANK and i didn't finished totally because there are still the skin to get.
after all these essays im so surprised no one is bringing up jazz jackrabbit's influences on this game, it's everywhere, the art, the gameplay, the zany level settings, even the audio and menu screens.
Im so glad that you mentioned antonblast, its gonna be a great game. And the creators of pizza tower are friends with the creators of antonblast and you can find so much fanart with peppino and antonblast. They are buddies!!
really great video man! i'm glad i waited to beat pizza tower before watching because i don't think i would've appreciated it as much! i am shocked how much i love this game, dude. it's fast, it's furious, and guess what it's pretty dern funny too! everything gameplay and level design seems so well considered it's hard not to love! I do have some gripes like, I feel I never learned all the mechanics? watching this i learned what a super taunt does. idk like it's a gamer's game, but it could use some more instruction
As someone who’s been a life long fan of cartoons such as Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbara, this game just speaks to me. It’s fun and chaotic and HILARIOUSLY violent, if you ever imagined what it would be like to actually experience living in a wacky cartoon, with crazy physics and comedic violence like getting a mallet slammed on your head and not die or get shot in the face and living like Daffy Duck when he gets shot by Elmer Fudd, this is the closest you can possibly get to that experience and I 100% recommend it. Pizza Tower is the ultimate game for cartoon lovers who enjoy seeing scenes like Sylvester trying to catch Tweety for the thousandth time only to blow himself up with TNT, or just an entire episode of Wacky Races (I’m making references that are going to go over so many heads these days and that makes me sad, WATCH MORE CARTOONS, PEOPLE), Pizza Tower has that similar formula that makes cartoons good. So many fun gimmicks, the rubber hose, stretchy animation, the way Peppino is just so incredibly feral and chaotic and has so much personality and emotion, it makes me foam at the mouth by how awesome it is and Tour De Pizza has done a phenomenal job on it and I really do hope they consider expanding the Pizza Tower brand, this is only the beginning of Pizza Tower.
I am *ALMOST* done with my second playthrough and this time going for only P-ranks, all that's left is beating the last boss without getting hit, and it's been kicking my ass, but I didn't get this far to give up!
Only gripe with this review is you mixing up combo and lap 2 for rank requirements. (P rank is holding combo on top of lap 2 and all collectibles, while S rank is all collectibles and sometimes doin lap 2)
I came to the game for the art style and animations. I stayed for the gameplay! Honestly I love every piece of this game, even the soundtrack and sound effects are simply spectacular!
there is one thing that people don’t talk about and that is the fact that peppino’s after effect when mach running is the color pallet being the flag of italy
If you need an even more unhinged addition to pizza tower, check out the fan made 3rd lap mod. It has its own custom soundtrack that is awesome. And if you complete a 3rd lap on a map you have s ranked already you get a custom rank screen. An excellent mod
Before playing the game I also thought similarly about the stage art. The characters' animations were clearly great and had loads of style, but I worried the levels would blend together. Luckily the opposite ended up being true since they're all such distinct locations and all have their own level specific gimmicks that greatly set them apart from each other. I loved Wario Land Shake It (Shake Dimension) when I was younger, and those escape scenes were incredible. I sucked at the bosses though and never beat it... I think I discovered Pizza Tower from the eggplant demo trailer, but never really paid attention until after it released. Played it about a week or two ago and it's now one of my all time favorite platformers. Can't wait for the Noise update! Also, the thing about P ranks is that they're designed to be very possible. All you _really_ need is to get the five toppings, the three secrets, the Gerome room treasure, to never drop a combo, and to do lap 2. If you do all that, you only need the same amount of points as an S rank
I think the fact that the achievement for P ranking floor 1 alone had over 10% completion when I got it shows that it is just hard enough to be a real challenge while keeping well within reach of the dedicated and skilled
I ended up subscribing to you after watching this video. You've convinced me to both give Wario another chance (since as a kid now a teen could not stand crude humor... thought ashley was cute though... let's see how much Wario land 3 and 4 are on eBay... oh and I'll also be taking the pizza tower pill... if I fail in life due to being obsessed with this game... blame is on you
Not only is this a Masterclass in what 2d playforming can be holy shit the music i have to go around with wipes becuase i fucking cry every time i hear this ost
I had yet to do John Gutter S rank (or any level S rank at all), and when I attempted it I just so happened to keep the combo all the way through. My heart was beating out of my chest but I got it :')
I kinda thought this video fell apart near the end. Also the thing about the combo meter and S rank isn't right. Normally you just get S rank for doing the lap 2.

This game does look much better once you get to see it in motion, it has a real Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, or Booger Man vibe and I can dig that. I'd love to see more games play with that loose, grimy/ugly style again.
Also Courage the Cowardly Dog. Peppino’s anxious demeanor harkens back to the little dog who had to face horrors beyond imagination
3:58 All of the artwork for Pizza Tower is actually strictly using the Wario Land 2 color palette. McPig used to do streams during development and he'd always have the Wario Land 2 tileset open in a tab to sample from. I think it really helps to sell the 'retro' feel
might be worth mentioning pizza tower absolutely had speedrunners in mind
not only are there options for IL timers and full run timers.
but clearing the tutorial swiftly will unlock all lap 2 portals, something that normally requires a clear of each level first. this way runners can do each level just once in a 100% run
have fun getting the john skin for peppino :^)
Or the coveted "holy shit" or "you're fast" Final judgements
Nintendo : NOOOO you can't just go as fast as you want, we put so much time into our levels!
Tour de Pizza : Ha ha, Italian man go VRRRROOOMMMM
Nintendo makes levels detailed so that you slow down. Tour De Pizza makes levels detailed so that you have fun, speed, and 413 billion dollars of debt to the IRS.

This video literally describes my own experience of pizza tower perfectly
I was addicted (and still am)
The fast paced action
The pizza packed punch
Everything about this game had me drooling at the mouth since the start
Every single P rank I earned had me shaking with goddamn adrenaline, never before has a game managed to get me to feel the rush that pizza tower does
I dont know what pills i took
But i need more
When I first started going for P-Ranks, I was straight up shaking as well throughout the entire 2nd lap. Now it's just pure focus maintained by the adrenaline. I can't help but pump my fist in the air every time I get a new P-Rank
Try sugary spire then
Ahhhh p ranks
Remind me of cuphead
I had once described Peppino as an oddly perfect mixture between Mario and Wario. But Now I see that i'm wrong, he's actually a mix of Luigi and Wario.
You mean... Waluigi?
BRAVO ^w^
One thing I try to do in all my videos is tie in a story element. It's my favorite part of making videos so I'm glad that aspect was appreciated here!
screw redpilling, nothing’s more based than pizza tower
God, I still dream of achieving my first P rank. Congrats champion
Best begin grinding my friend.
usually the hardest part is mantaining the combo. Outside of that, it's mostly just memorizing secret locations.
You can do it! I found that practicing doing lap 2 and not resetting when I lose my combo so I can practice the later parts of the level _really_ helps.
@@MFG1243 This. ALWAYS finish the level. Also, make sure to utilize the full move set to your advantage, including what the tutorial doesn't teach.
first level p rank so easy dude
Maybe the best PT review I've seen, great work man
Nobody understands the hype around P ranks until they start going for them, and then it's like a fever you just can't shake until you get them all.
Same, except for me it's that I start gripping my controller so tight my fingers start going numb.
What are you waiting for? Pizza tower is right there 😅

You know, it's pretty rare to have the game of the year be released so early in the year, but Im all for it
My recommendations have been flooded with this content.
Never completed either tho
why mort the chicken was added was because tour de pizza got permission from the creator of the mort the chicken game to add mort to pizza tower
My Review:
Looking at this game as an iteration of Wario Land, it's fascinating to see not only what's borrowed and repurposed, but how many fresh ideas keep coming to the table.
I knew this video was coming after hearing a wario-like came out, great vid!
8:17 and Jazz Jackrabbit.
Bro I feel so happy when people find this game and love it. I grew up on the demos
Peppino isn't on a quest for cash, he's trying to stop a big fat floating pizza from destroying his shop.
The crude, cartoony artstyle always reminded me of old PC games, especially ones made for kids/schools.
WAKE UP BABE, NEW WIZAWHAT JUST DROPPED
i beat pizza tower and i heard of p ranks so i tried to get my first one and i got it on the first boss and i used the no sugar coating it strat and it felt so good then after i beat the game i got my first level p rank that felt even better to get
YOU WANT? YOU DON'T WANT
YOU WANT? YOU DON'T WANT
YOU WANT? YOU DON'T WANT
AT ALL, AT ALL
(yes I like the game btw)
Glad I’m not the only one who feels like Peppino’s character is closer to Luigi than Wario lol.
There's a sense of absolute accomplishment when one 100% the achievements and 101% the game in its entirety.
Oh, and the music is an absolute banger
Still seeking that 101%, but I'm savoring my time with this beautiful game. Also bumping Unexpectancy on my runs
In an age of gentrification of art, something like Pizza Tower shows that art styles from the past still can work in the modern day.
i love how this guy gets more and more insane through the course of this video
amazing video
I could genuinely feel your well seasoned passion during the P rank bit
Peppino really is a phenomenal character. He shows what you can achieve with passionate expression over dialogue.
The euphoria I felt after getting P rank on John Gutter, I swear if I was alone in the house I would have screamed so loud that the neighbors would have to check up on me.
SAME!! I P-ranked Pizzascape lately and the pure euphoria and adrenaline I felt was insane
I saw this game. I remember the jump scare.
man, i genuinely enjoyed hearing how happy and in love you were man.
S rank just needs Lap 2 and a good skill level. P rank requires everything, Good knowledge of the level, a combo during the whole run, and collect all the toppings and secrets.
10:02 meanwhile Peppibot Factory nervously sitting on floor 4:
I don't know why no one's mentioning this but he got the s and p rank requirements backwards. You get the s rank by doing everything + lap 2. P rank is everything + lap 2 and a combo.(unless im wrong)
3:48 the sheer terror on peppinos face is a delight to see!
Imagine the devs going through every frame of every animation, just to change peppino's clothes. That must have taken ages, big w to the devs.
The first sentence I agree with. I am that.
I spent way to long trying to p rank the entire first floor
That stupid intro animation fires off my dopamine receptors like a machine gun. Pizza tower is like crack, it's very addictive.
i remember my first p rank, i was in a vc with my friend streaming, and i just started going bonkers, murdering everything, running at supersonic speeds, GETTING THE LAP 2, AND WHEN I SAW THAT PURPLE P RANK INDICATOR NEXT TO THE SCORE, I WENT CRAZY.
Pizza Tower hooked me the same way Neon White did. The game is goated and unhinged I love it.
Thank you!!

3:03 Personally, I'd say Peppino is more in common with Courage the Cowardly Dog: A reluctant hero known for being terrified and anxious at the many strange things around him.
17:53 Next time anyone asks me to sum up Pizza Tower and if its good... I'm just showing them this segment right here lol

after all these essays im so surprised no one is bringing up jazz jackrabbit's influences on this game, it's everywhere, the art, the gameplay, the zany level settings, even the audio and menu screens.
I’m a bit late to the party but I wish you the best of luck. You got this brother 💪
12:40 the moment everyone took off their headphones
Only gripe with this review is you mixing up combo and lap 2 for rank requirements. (P rank is holding combo on top of lap 2 and all collectibles, while S rank is all collectibles and sometimes doin lap 2)

16:40 this is how i feel when im excited about something
and THE MUSIC THAT PLAYS DURING LAP 2 GETS YOU ABSOLUTELY ZEN MODE ENTHRALLED!!!!
You slippery bastard! I was dozing off at the perfect time and got got by the peppino jump scare lmaooo
I think the fact that the achievement for P ranking floor 1 alone had over 10% completion when I got it shows that it is just hard enough to be a real challenge while keeping well within reach of the dedicated and skilled
if i didn't already have the game, this video would ABSOLUTELY convince me to get it
great job 👍
13:05 i think it became a cult advertisement lmao
I ended up subscribing to you after watching this video. You've convinced me to both give Wario another chance (since as a kid now a teen could not stand crude humor... thought ashley was cute though... let's see how much Wario land 3 and 4 are on eBay... oh and I'll also be taking the pizza tower pill... if I fail in life due to being obsessed with this game... blame is on you
