I blame society for putting overweight/obesity high on a pedestal for its market value and having folks discreetly suffer behind a mask as they live through the reality of it. They condemn others for not being attracted to their unhealthy state but run to use drugs like this. We need a medically approved fitness culture, like when had that ever been a thing here in America?

Because of doctors prescribing Ozympic for weight loss, people like my husband, a type 2 diabetic could no longer get it and was changed to a different drug. It did not work as well and was very new on the market. Less than a year later he had a massive heart attack and passed away. He should never have had to change drugs due to dieters. @susanoldcorn4559 Рік тому

@@ukmedicfrcstype 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes are completely different. Type 1 a person has from birth and they do not produce insulin at all, so the only medication that they can take is insulin. Other than insulin the other diabetic medications do not work for type 1 diabetes, I don’t know why type 1 was even mentioned in the comment above because Ozempic is not insulin. Y’all need to get your facts straight. Also I can tell you that there have been many medications for all different types of diseases that people actually need have been on the shortage list, I know this from personal experiences. I am also a Type 2 diabetic and have been working very hard trying to reverse it. I have been on oral medication for quite awhile (years) and changed my eating habits and still couldn’t lose the weight or get my A1C down to a non- diabetic level, so my physician (who also monitors me and my blood levels every 3 months put me on Ozempic and it has been life changing for me as first and most importantly my A1C is down to pre- diabetic levels and I am finally losing the weight that I need to lose to not be considered obese, as my goal is to lose the weight and to live a healthier lifestyle so I can get off of most if not all of my medications. Especially since I also have a heart murmur that has become more pronounced over the past couple of years. So my point is no Ozempic is not a cure all, as you have to change your diet and lifestyle, it is also not something that everyone should be taking just because they want to lose weight as there should be at least other health factors, and those who are not being monitored closely by a physician definitely should not be given or taking any kind of prescription medication.

And I am not talking about becoming big and bulky.
Though, cardio will deplete muscle - and muscle is the absolute key to longevity and health; and the more muscle one has, the better their metabolic system is.
Especially, when it comes to fatty liver.
      Also, don’t focus on “weight-loss.”
      Focus on “fat-loss.”
Because weight-loss can indicate a loss in fat - or muscle.
And the absolute last thing anyone wants (unless they are a body builder and in their cutting season ) - is to lose muscle.
The more muscle One gains - the more calories their body will burn, in the process of doing so.
Also, be careful with cardio and intermittent fasting., in combination.
Both of such, cause a release in cortisol - which, also, drops progesterone.
It’s not that all stress is bad, for the body.
Though, you don’t wanna over do it, ‘cause this will deplete more muscle.
And as I stated - muscle health is the key to longevity and proper metabolic function.

The nausea is nothing. I have diabetes, but my CNP wanted me on it for weight loss. I didn't feel right taking it and stopped. Went in for my check up and she insisted that I HAD to take it. I started taking it and even tho I was still taking my depression medication, my depression was getting worse. I became very irritable with my family and was becoming suicidal. I am not the only one that Ozempic has had this effect on. Plenty of UA-camrs. And I lost more weight by doing intermittent fasting than I did on Ozempic. To top it off, it was a drug i should never have been prescribed. I talke Levothyroxin because I had my thyroid removed to due to Thyroid cancer. And the warning label says do not take with Levothyroxin. I discovered that when I started checking out what I went thru.

It’s too easy to take a pill and lose weight. Unfortunately, not living a healthier lifestyle isn’t going to be in your favor later on. Side effects with too many medications is often worse than having the problems.

I was (am) a LT member of Weight Watchers. I haven't attended meetings since Covid and while I know at this point I could certainly return to those meetings I have lost respect for that organization since they now promote Ozempic. The reason I first joined was because of their concept of (1) teaching people to make better food choices (2) understanding that people need to be more active. Although I realize WW would (hopefully) only suggest this drug for the small majority of it's members, just the fact that they are rubs me wrong. I remember where there was a time when it took changing your lifestyle for the better to make the changes you'd like. Apparently now they and too many doctors are in partnership with drug manufactures. In my perfect world there would be no drug commercials on TV or radio. Go back to the days when your doctor would discuss with you lifestyle options and then, if needed, medications could be discussed.

I have a friend who wanted it for weight loss and went to basically a spa and got the prescription from a nurse practitioner. And her prescription was for 12 mg. That's crazy . That's probably why these people are having horrible side effects because their doses are ridiculously high because they want to shed the weight quickly. Look up "gastroparesis", and understand that a large part of how this drug works is by mimicking that condition. it also triggers your pancreas to release more insulin, which helps clear glucose out of the blood stream, which is why it's used for diabetes. However that process has problems too. It can lead to acute pancreatitis, and worsens the problem of insulin resistance.

I have lost 44 lb I'm down to 124 and I did it by watching what I ate I'm watching my blood glucose numbers and I am so happy that I did not take Olympic.

I'm the living example of side affects. 2 emergency surgeries & another major surgery this year. All to lose 15 lbs. I've found no recourse or attorney willing to sue the compound pharmacy that provided the generic prescription to my doctor. Scarred for life & it has probably lowered my life expectancy. I'm lucky as there have been deaths reported.

Maybe a month. I never even got up to full dosage. I went back to the doctor. Told him of the severe side affects along with an emergency room visit. He suggested I "give it another go" as the nursing staff had good luck with it. This was a year ago. It landed me in the hospital for over a month with 2 emergency surgeries & sepsis. I almost DIED. I have a 3rd major surgery on my gut scheduled for next week. I'll be hospitalized for approximately 1 week more.
I saved the unused meds, paperwork & astronomical hospital bills.
Some of the stories I've been told about side affects are horrendous. Including a single mom of 4 committing suicide after taking it because it messes with dopamine.

Threw the Metformin in the trash after a week of use generated horrible leg cramps. 2023: I've gracefully lost 50 pounds, just had a check up and I am in better than average shape for my age group. I’m in no way promoting poor eating and obesity , but I’m fearful that unhealthy things are coming back. It would be nice if true heath and natural size was embraced. I say this as a 65 year old woman that has semi starved herself her whole adult life and have had a very difficult time accepting the ten pounds I’ve gained in the last five years. Women think they are so liberated but yet there is still a desperate desire for us to stay young and very thin. It really is the curse upon Eve still manifesting today.

If someone has physical issues and literally can't exercise then it's almost impossible to lose any decent amount of weight. You'll hit a plateau you can't get past unless you add exercising, which you can't do. I know several people like this. One has a blown out knee and badly damaged hip from an accident and the other has a severe lower back injury. Neither will be getting better and can barely manage to walk at all. Both have gained a lot of weight since their injuries so this drug would be their only way of getting that weight off, which will help them manage with their injuries. So for some people who need to lose weight this drug would be a godsend.

I’ve seen this used on friends with type 2 diabetes with excellent results for them but then there were friends that saw the advantage of losing 20 lbs have had horrible affects. Not only causing serious medical problems but physically their bodies and faces look distorted and morbid. As long as big pharma and the medical community can make a profit people will continue to be Guinea pigs because all they see is a thinner person without understanding the consequences of this drug. It’s so unfortunate that those adults and children who need this medication are the ones left to the side cause their is more money to be made on vanity then a cure.

There was very little knowledge about the effects this was causing to people's brains. It's just becoming known now.

I don't want it for vanity or to be skinny enough to get in designer clothes, I need them to help my condition, save my life. I have mobility problems so can't go for walks or do regular exercise and struggle to cook for myself so need help in getting control of a sensible weight, but unless something is done to stop misuse, I will never get the help I need. I think her issue is that her plastic surgery was done for her heavier face. Now that her face is so thin the plastic surgery no longer is in balance. I'm not sure how easily it would be to repair but I do think that is her issue as opposed to how healthy she is. She(plastic surgeons) has/have altered her face so much I dont think it can reflect her health or illness as a normal face might.

When I asked why, they told me that the overprescribing of Ozempic for weight loss caused a shortage of THAT medication, which drove doctors to prescribe Trulicity for weight loss, which caused its shortage in the dosage most prescribed to diabetics. Now I have to take Victoza.

Too much weight lost coupled with too many plastic surgeries. The fish lips might not look so bad on a fuller face, for example, but they really look out of place on a very gaunt face. When you're older, it's always better to be a little bit on the chubby side to give the face that fullness that aging diminishes.

Dear Sharon. I was put on a drug that was very similar to Ozempic, Manjaro, or Wegovy it is called Saxenda and it has ended my life. As soon as I got off of it I got a disease called gastroparisis which is an awful disease. My doctor had me on so much medication that had already slowed down my stomach from 4 hours to 12 hours. I ended up with 2 autoimmune diseases after I stopped taking it. My life has ended with this drug. People need to know what a doctor is giving you. My doctor just asked me if I wanted to lose weight and I said yes!! He never went over how to take the drug and left it up to his assistant to tell me how to take it. I have suffered so much pain and I am a mother a grandmother and a wife. When I started it I was 57 years old and l have been to so many doctors that have just swept me under the rug because they don't want to try to fix another doctors mistake as I was told from a stomach doctor who wanted to take out my stomach. I used to have such beautiful hair and I have lost most of it . I am now wearing wigs because I'm not able to eat and get enough protein intake to help my body maintain what my body needs to fuel my body. These drugs are very dangerous to anyone who takes them. Regular doctors should not be giving these kinds of diabetic drugs out just to lose weight. L would love to talk to you because l would like to get the message out to anyone I could help. My doctor has decided to lock his doors on his practice.
