Firefighters battle Bonsall Highway Fire in Fallbrook,CA

The Highway Fire erupted at about noon Wednesday and has burned about 380 acres with 100 percent containment achieved Thursday evening. Fire crews from all over California helped battle the 6+ fires burning in San Diego County. No injuries or structure damage was reported.

Just saw this for the first time more than 5 years after it was posted. I paused the video just after the Forest Service pickup went by. I was expecting a Cleveland NF unit, but it was Battalion 41, Inyo NF, Mt Whitney Ranger District with the district office in Lone Pine. I wonder what they were doing down there. I have relatives who live in Fallbrook and they have been through a couple of major evacuations. Good thing the husband is a USMC veteran as he has clearance for himself and his wife to travel through the base, so they evacuated due west.
It was neat to see the OES Type 1 engine strike team. I'm retired from the U.S. Forest Service and have been to a lot of fires in 8 of the 11 western states, including Yellowstone, 1988. I spent the last 18 years of my career in California and saw how well the mutual aid system and the incident command system work in the state. The OES system of placing engines all over the state works very well. It's amazing how many of those yellow engines so soon.
