- So, a while back I posted my Tier 1 Retro 51 Mystery Box. I immediately bought another at the top level: Tier 3. I meant to get this posted a long time ago, but then some stuff happened and I didn't post for a while. And now they don't have Mystery Boxes in stock over at Retro 51. BUT: Maybe they will again! And, if they do, you'll want to be prepared and certain if you want one or not. So: Watch this!

** I bought these things with my own cash. Thanks, everyone! I try not to let that sort of thing color my reviews. What you see is what I got. Thanks for the support, Patrons! **

After your previous mystery box, I picked up one of my own. It was nice that I got the barber pen and could give it to my barber as a present.
Nice!
Retro 51 rollerballs are the only non-fountain pens I use. This is rad.
After watching your initial unboxing, I went for Tier 2. It is awesome! I got a Brutus, a USPS Sailboat,Cat Rescue, and a pair of Retro 51 Socks! Way Cool!! Thanks the tip on this, and keep doing what you do! Happy New Year to you and Audrey!
Thanks! I'm glad you got things you'll enjoy. I can't believe I didn't get any socks.
Thanks for doing the video Mike. Just before Christmas, I purchased a Tier 3 box, and was pleasantly surprised with the contents. I also got a Brutus, a Stealth and the same Big Shot as you, but I got their basic fountain pen in a violet color with an EF nib. I also got the assortment of stickers, key ring, etc. The Retro 51 fountain pen is really nice. I am not a fan of EF nibs, but this one is nicely smooth. I decided to swap nibs, and put in a Scythe nib from Kirk Speer. Now the Retro 51 fountain pen came alive! Great pen!
Just looking at the Retro51 stuff on Cult Pens and there is some lovely things.
I got one of these tier 3 mystery boxes before Christmas. I got a fountain pen and 2 rollerballs, including Brutus, and a rollerball & pencil set. Plus my notebook was all kitties and I also got all those extra fun things.
Wow! That's a good haul.
You said, "Jefferson fountain pen" but it didn't register that it wasn't a rollerball until you saw the cartridges. 😏
I love the Love stamps. I wish that can in a fountain pen version.
DID I? I didn't even notice that when I was editing. 🤦🏼♂️
Love the magic Mike!

Cool box. I just don't care for the fact that they include ball points. I'm exclusively a fountain pen user.
Oh yeah, odds are that you're going to get rollerballs from these boxes. That's got to be the majority of their business and production. Unfortunately for me, I love all sorts of pens.
You prefer the oil paste ink if a ballpoint over a liquid rollerball ink?
I've never heard that from anyone
Yep. It writes on more surfaces and it doesn't bleed into your clothes like water-based rollerball ink does. If I want to use a liquid ink I'll use fountain pens.
@@inkdependence make sense.
I find ballpoint crappy, but i probably have never owned a good one.
I don't get why people love g2's. They are so scratchy. I have thousands of dollars of fountain pens, but want a little good ballpoint for receipts and forms.
I was looking at The Travelers fountain pen but I really don't need it. If I can get good ballpoint refills in the ballpoint version maybe I would do that . Or the Retro 51
I’m sorry, “mystery box” excitement eludes me. Why would ordering a shops inventory imbalance adjustments excite anticipation?
Because I'm likely to enjoy whatever they send (given that I like their product line), it's less expensive than buying the things at retail, and I enjoy surprises enough to offset the cost-outlay. If that doesn't appeal to you, then these sorts of boxes aren't for you, and that's fine.
@@inkdependence ..focused, informed buying decisions are my fun. Why walk into a shop handing the cart to an associate and say “surprise me?” But you’re right of course, whatever floats your boat is your call, no on else’s.
