I have this pen and I put my Richard Binder Condor nib in it. It is incredible! People are always saying that the m200 is too small but I agree with you, it's perfectly reasonable. I have Diamine Autumn Oak in mine right now but I'm almost out of ink so I need to think of what to use next! Anxious to see what you choose!
Lucky you! That's a great orange, and the translucent barrel is a great choice. I always think the M200/205 is a bit too small until I ink one up, and then I really enjoy writing with it.
I haven't had one of these but have been really considering it, because like you, there's a colorway that is very me-coded. It's so cool to see the method for removing the nib. Any hesitation I might have had about shimmer ink just evaporated.
That is a glowing orange. And I also appreciate being able to remove the nib on position fillers to clean them. The new Pelikansx with the stripes aren’t see-through, as I recall. Pity. That’s one of the aspects of those pens I like. Happy Surprise Pelikan Day, Mike!
Beautiful pen! Curious to see what other colors it may come in. Fun fact: I'm going to new jersey on a family trip and goldspot is on the way so we are going to stop in!
The m200 comes in SO many colors and variations. The model has been around for a long time, and they've been iterating on the colors and such for ages. I didn't know you even could stop in to Goldspot. Tell Tom I said hi!
@inkdependence yeah they have a brick and mortar store in Aberdeen NJ right off the Garden State Parkway. Idk if Tom will actually be there but I will certainly say hello if I happen to see him.
I think that's part of the design of the piston system. The piston knob doesn't move away from the pen, and I think that's part of it. It does hold plenty of ink, I think.
@@inkdependence It probably is the design. I looked it up and the photos show the pen the same way. They say it has a 1.2ml ink capacity. Maybe they designed it like that to give the pen a little more length for people like me that don't like to post their pens?
Love Pelikan, I recently got an M200 classic black from Amazon for 72 euros, the standard price is excessive but you always see them on bargain everywhere, guess they look too "old school" to be appealing, shame because they are really good pens.
The prices are an issue with Pelikan. They're different in different markets, and it makes it difficult for vendors in different locales to compete. The price you paid is about half what they go for in the States, so good deal!
Biggest waste of money. Mine writes like a rusty fish hook. One of my worst performing pens. That 200 was such a disappointment that it put me off fountain pen purchases from anyone for months. Trash. As overpriced as they are, they should work.
Was yours this orange model, too? This one turns out to have needed some nib adjustment, too. It’s the first Pelikan I’ve ever gotten with a nib that was way too dry. (I didn’t talk about it in this video because I didn’t know yet, but it’ll be in the full review or something.)
That is a sweet orange!! 🤩
A very nice-looking pen, Mike! Thank you for sharing the un-boxing. Have a great week!
Thanks! You too!
Cracking colour - I love the translucent barrel. Great job, Pelikan.
love that lil colour matched crab in the thumbnail!
I thought it was fun. 😆

I filled it with Lennon Tool Bar's Bombax Cieba!
@@inkdependenceYou sent me a vial of that. I’ll be getting a bottle of it eventually. I’m a like worried about butting in in this heat, though.

You know, some of the striped ones ARE see-through. Not all of them, though.

What a great detour!
@@ruthfeiertag I can't wait!
@@positivelycat I confess to some envy. Take pictures. Get autographs.
Thanks, Mike. Nice looking pen! It seems like the piston should go back farther. Wasted space that ink should be in, I think.
