Everywhere I went in the old days, cameras were a no-no on Shakedown/the lot. I remember the cops videotaping license plates and people a few times. After all, there were massive amounts of LSD coming in to town from somewhere.
We brought a Kodak disposable camera to Vegas one year. All those first shows I went to between 78 and 81 and not a single photo. Now you see kids with Iphones that don't even take a minute to video a drum circle in the lot just tons selfies of themselves. ha
Man I was lucky to be apart of the Dead in the late 80s the parking lot scene and party the drum circle's nitrous oxide better known as Hippie Crack miss those days peace

Didn't see many independent artists with their unique, psychedelic art. Best T-shirts ever when tripping! Haven't seen the dead since Jerry died a lot has changed, from people selling some kind stuff to alter your mind and a few shirts and some hippies selling pb and j's. This looks like a swap meet for dead gear, I do like the individual art work.
I went to a dead show in 94 love seeing the finger in the air waiting for a miracle..... But we need to see more jerry in the vid... Also it will never be like it was in the 90's crazy rad time jerry was singing loud and every thing was free the best buds foods amazing time in high school.....
Right at 7:30 the 2 heads that pop into frame are undercover ...you see them through out the video ..he never hits the small balloon its a prop...when they walk and talk like a cop they are a cop.

that's a completely different world from when I saw the grateful dead over three nights at the Oakland civic center. Back then it was as if hippies in micro buses came out of the surrounding hills for the occasion , and some sold a few wares by their vans parked on the grass outside of the venue to recover costs of travel. I bought some hippie beads and an organic avocado sandwich, where it was explained to me that if you had a good idea, like the guy down the way selling multicolored dancing bear bumperstickers, you could make enough money to follow the band the entire year. The folks with the avocado sandwiches were debating if they should spend the money to go in, and said they would probably just save the money because you could hear pretty well outside.

I regret it as I really don’t like it . I liked the back without really looking at the front until I got back to my car . It’s an xl . If someone wants it let me know. It has the large skull on the back with tour dates which I like but the front has that skeleton with roses that I don’t like with a Dead & Company logo on it.

Total clusterfuck. Live Nation confined shakedown street to a tiny area, and it was impossible to do a pass through and really see any of the goods being sold. It was like a mobbed subway.
Do we know where Shakedown will be set up for the PHX show tomorrow? Also, anyone riding in from the West I can get a ride to the venue from? I'm in Buckeye right off the 10.
It sure was the best huh? It was fun, dangerous, mysterious, bad ,good, magical, I felt like I experienced something not many got to see after doing shows. I would come back glowing from sunburn but also my soul.

Before a show, there was a guy in a big glittered out Uncle Sam top hat running around saying , " Mega dose, get your mega dose" . Later on I saw the guy inside the concert venue in a side room laughing historically at a couple attempting to play ping pong, but they were laughing too hard to get much done beyond a one bounce over the net serve.
Time moves on. Drugs are legal now, and police on the West Coast don't give a shit about a bunch of people not shooting each other. There was a certain romanticism about the illegality of it all, but those days are gone.

Not sure. My wife and I saw the Atlanta - Lakewood show this tour. It was crazy relaxed as far as police presence and I didn't see a single incident where police were arresting anyone (unlike shows in previous years). There was full strength edibles being sold right in open vendor stalls, great buds, mushrooms, acid, molly...and any other drug anyone might have wanted being sold openly. Nitrous was everywhere, including people hawking balloons right in front of the stadium as people were parking. Cops and staff everywhere, but apparently they didn't care. There were people walking around huffing balloons everywhere and toking up with not a care in the world. Compared to previous years, it was a welcome feeling. Disappointed we could only catch one show this year and sad this run is ending. It was great while it lasted. We'll keep looking for the next experience.
When I see this I’m really glad (with the exception of Highgate Vermont 94 which sucked) my last of many many shows was in 82 . This is awful looking… but then again you could see this coming from ten thousand miles away . Always loved the music but the scene 🤮 !!! It really was just a dream we had one afternoon long ago . Please forgive me for the pretentious lyrical reference . Never liked that mind numbing crap either .
