👏👏👏 What a time we live in. It's crazy we can enjoy this for free anytime, anywhere. People form the XVIII century would do backflips if they found out!
What a lovely orchestra, and a wonderful hall. I was sorry when Alan Gilbert left the NY Phil because I thought he was a breath of fresh air for that hidebound institution and would have been a great leader when they had to improvise during the Geffen Hall renovation. But I think he chose wisely. Love these videos.
Alan Gilbert's conducting shows the joy and exuberance that Beethoven instilled in this work. Therefore, the entire orchestra responds in kind. What a delightful and heartwarming performance. Thank you!
Vielen Dank Meister BEETHOVEN.
A spirited and very enjoyable performance from Maestro Gilbert and the orchestra. It has long been my great pleasure to see the wonderful Roland Greutter in the Concertmaster's Chair. Thank you so much.
I used to hear syndicated radio broadcasts of the New York Philharmonic when Alan Gilbert was their chief conductor. It seems to me that he enjoys conducting in Hamburg and his performances are more enjoyable. He may well have a better orchestra! In any event, this is a fine rendition of the Beethoven 7th. Thanks for posting and All the Best to those involved in this production from a listener in Washington,DC
I like this interpretation very much. A little bit faster than Haitink in the first movement. Well, that´s always a matter of personal taste. I have come to the conclusion that I like this better, it has more "swing" in it. The second movement can never be played bad, and the third has all the guts needed. All ending in the fourth movement with this joyful Bacchus. As I understand, this is a very Beethovenian interpretation, if you can say so. Thank you all so much.
The NDR Philharmonie made a master stroke in appointing Alan Gilbert as their principal conductor. One of today’s finest conductors unlike certain other principals who, from what I’ve heard so far, are more style (and hype) over substance.
Thank you! :) There is Tobias Heimann, if you want to know more about our Horn section -> www.ndr.de/orchester_chor/elbphilharmonieorchester/orchester/Hoerner,bilduebersicht119.html
I never have seen a conductor breaking a sweat like Alan Gilbert conduction a performance of Symphony No.7 Op.92. Just perfect.
Thank you - much appreciated!
WOW ! what spectacular playing! What a lovrfest among Beethoven the conductor, orchester, and audience...a night to remember!
Thank you so much, love your comment!
Where would we be without Ludwig van? God Bless his soul and I hope to meet him in The Lord's kingdom someday.

Most Beautiful performance of the 7th I think I have ever heard!
Oh, that's a nice comment! Thank you!!
Beethoven's crazy warhorse: fantastic! Way to go, Alan!
What a seventh Symphony !!...great !
Happy to hear that you enjoyed it! :)
THE GREAT GENIUS: LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN!!! FOREVER ❤❤❤❤🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
That look between the double bass players at 5:10 we could all feel that.

I am always pleasantly surprised how this conductor makes me feel I am listening to these Beethoven war horses for the first time. Riveting.
The seventh is hardly a warhorse. The 5th the 9th. This symphony is rarely performed because of the technical difficulty.
A spirited and very enjoyable performance from Maestro Gilbert and the orchestra. It has long been my great pleasure to see the wonderful Roland Greutter in the Concertmaster's Chair. Thank you so much.

Thanks for a fine performance at a good fast tempo!
Thank you, with pleasure!
Wunderschön !
Gratuliere Elbphilharmonie Orchester und Dirigent Alan Gilbert. 👏🏻👏🏻💐💐
Herzlichen Dank! 🤩
I have never heard the beginning of the Allegretto phrased in this manner - it is genius.....
Wonderful performance and so nice to see Michael Hasel from the Berlin Philharmonic sitting in as principal flute! Thanks for posting the concert!
Our pleasure, as always! Great to have you with us!

BRAVISSIMO from California!
Thank you!!
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Wow, Gilbert's interpretation of Beethoven symphonies has greatly improved! Much better than the recording that he made with the NY Phil.

The NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra says thank you! :)
Too often in the 7th, the Scherzo can seem a little lame after the magnificent Allegretto. Not here, though - beautifully done, Mr Gilbert!
Thank you, we are happy you like it! 🤩
Sublime, merci.
... de rien! 🤩

Con mucho gusto!
Good stuff, though I notice one of the cellists seems to have covered his instrument in treacle.
Seventh Heaven! 😇🎹
Happy to hear this!

Of what musical value is the suit?

222mozart: If a black T-shirt make you miss this music I only can say I am sorry.
@@staffanolofsson8201 yes, these rags make me miss this music. and this concert. and this guy.
