This is one of the greatest songs ever made. The lyrics “Someday soon we all will be together, if the fates allow. Until we’ll have to muddle through…somehow…” really incapsulate the American grit. And it was so timely, during the end of World War 2
Remember that this was released during WWII when many Americans had menfolk serving overseas.... gives even more power to the lyrics. This movie was a slice of Americana to boost patriotic feeling - back when Hollywood was patriotic.
Vincente Minnelli and his team did such a brilliant job on this classic movie. Judy had never looked this stunning, the Technicolor is ravishing, the musical direction is fabulous, she and Margaret are absolutely perfect in this scene, and indeed in the entire move.
Judy loved how she looked in this movie. Especially the makeup and from then on she insisted on having the same makeup artist for all her movies made at that studio.
Judy Garland doesnt blink once in this entire scene and im just blown away by how that small detail makes her performance so much more engaging.. anyone else see it?
I have loved Judy Garland since I was a little kid. One of my favorite movies is this one and I really like this song 😍❤️💕. Judy Garland sings this Christmas song so beautifully and emotionally. It is fantastically beautiful ❤
Lord give me strength as I struggle to support my sons. As a single mom I’ve been overwhelmed trying to pay all the bills on my own so where there is lack, Father, I pray that you bring abundance. I pray that my children will grow up to know and love you. Be with them as I raise them each day to be God-fearing lovers of Christ. Give me wisdom and patience as I continue to struggle to provide for my sons.💕
As with Sinatra, Judy Garland was a timeless, once in a lifetime gem, whose empathy and talent, resonates with us all. Let us then be truly thankful for Her ambition and career, and, life, and what it has given us.
Judy, Judy, Judy miss you so much, 😘 l'm 70 now and will see you soon in heaven, you were one of the Greatest in Hollywoods Golden Era! ❤️ Love Gary 🙏 RIP 😊
I will always prefer Judy’s version with the original lyrics “Until then, we’ll have to muddle through somehow” instead of the dozens of covers that have changed lyrics “Hang a shining star upon the highest bough” ❤
Judy Garland is absolutely stunning!✨I’ve never seen her play any other roles besides Dorothy. Seeing her in this clip, playing a different role truly makes her more real and more magical to me.
I just saw this movie for the first time this Christmas, and I absolutely loved it! It was so tender and real, and I loved that it was all about a normal American family, with a strong father and a gentle loving mother and lots of siblings. When was the last time someone made a film like that? Nowadays so many people act like the all-American family with a strong leading father and a love of kids is a diabolical institution that needs to be destroyed. This was a breath of fresh air in the face of that kind of culture.
According to a documentary on the making of the film Judy Garland asked for changes to be made to the lyrics because she wanted the song to sound hopeful for the future. This tearjerker is the hopeful version she requested. Margaret O'Brien apparently was able to cry on cue. She said she was in a fierce competition with June Allyson when it came to crying so her mother would tell her Allyson was filming nearby and crying beautifully so Margaret would try to cry better. She said the stories about Vincent Minelli telling her that her dog died to get her to cry were not true. She said she didn't believe Garland would have allowed that anyway because she was very protective of her. I have a soundtrack from the movie that includes the crying during the song.
I absolutely love this song. I listen to do it every ever now and I’ve sung this version myself (more than likely I poorly sang it). It’s a wonderful song that just makes the holidays feel special to me.
Judy Garland is definitely in a league of her own in the singing category, this wonderful movie was during WW2 when so many families were separated from their loved ones serving overseas, so this touching sentimental brilliant song hit an emotional chord with many, it was wonderful and beautiful in 1944, and it's still a wonderful and beautiful classic today, just do lovely, and nobody sings like Judy, she's just an amazing talent.. ❤
It really sucks how Judy Garland was treated by the Hollywood system. We lost so much talent from her because of how they destroyed her. This is an unbelievable performance.
@StevenJingles "It really sucks how Judy Garland was treated by the Hollywood system. We lost so much talent from her because of how they destroyed her. This is an unbelievable performance." You're full of crap, like the rest of the Judies. Without her connection to MGM, she couldn't do her best work. When she tried producing and starring in A Star is Born (1954) on her own, her work was erratic.
Such a beautiful song performed by an amazing artist whose life was totally ruined by the Hollywood big wigs. Hard to believe she was only 46 when she died. One of the greats of Hollywood and never forgotten. Love watching her performances with Mickey Rooney and they are now both resting only 100 or so meters apart from each other. Miss you so much Judy and thank you for all the wonderful memories. R.I.P.
@@nstix2009xitsn Do your research on the drugs she was forced to take, the hours she was forced to work and being told she was unattractive and fat. Set her on a path to destruction. Read up!

A voice that will never come again. Merry Christmas to all.
Still holds up 80 years later to this day.
Still shines brighter than 99% of the new stuff!
Hold this up
Yep. It does. It really does.
Maravillosa y eterna
Yes it does ❤
Christmas Eve 2024
Timeless!! Even Margaret O'Brian (child actor) is 87 years old now.
Makes me remember being a young boy, mom and dad and sisters all together. Life was so simple then.
Yes sir Mr Gregory. Your sure right about that.
Like she says, we'll experience that again one day..
The emotions which Judy Garland captures in her voice for this song is extraordinary. This song captures the Christmas season.
This is one of the greatest songs ever made. The lyrics “Someday soon we all will be together, if the fates allow. Until we’ll have to muddle through…somehow…” really incapsulate the American grit.

duh
It doesn’t have the same amount of love compared to Wizard Of Oz, but this movie is up there with being amongst Judy Garland’s best work
It was her favorite movie. She was finally a beautiful woman and not a cute little girl
It's my favorite Judy Garland movie. I could watch it endlessly❤
My favorite movie of hers hands down! A big family favorite and this part makes me cry every time! Such a beautiful movie with lovely characters!
How does it not have “the same amount of love”? What a bunch of nonsense!
What love? The filming of the wizard of Oz was torture for many of the actors and actresses
One of my fav songs, it captures the melancholy and hope of Christmas. And man Judy Garland was in great voice and looking gorgeous.
Marrie me
This is how I want to remember her!
May we all have a merry little Christmas, this one and the ones still to come.
Thank you and may we have a happy new year.

Judy said it was the first time she felt and looked beautiful.
Perfect, as only Judy Garland could sing this , Merry Christmas 🎄 2024

Perfection…thanks Judy. America will always love you!
What a beautiful time and what a beautiful performance!! Only one Judy Garland 🥹👍👏
Still the definitive version of this song. Sinatra's was good but Garland's voice just lends itself much better to it. Absolute perfection.
This makes me cry every single time I watch it 😢 My favorite Judy Garland movie and song that she covered.
The song was written for this movie. It wasn't covered, she was the first.
I think of my Mom 💔😭🙏
I'm not crying, you are! 😢
No, it's allergies! 🤧
😂😂😂
🗡🌰🥷😂
As soon as she starts singing, the whole world turns Xmas and it doesn't even matter what the calendar says.
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas is my favorite Judy Garland song since Over The Rainbow 🎄
Merry Christmas, everyone !

Just stop it already, is there any channel where you haven't tried to pander hoping people will offer you money, have you no shame!?
Ask and you shall receive. God knows your needs, and as long as you trust and obey Him, He will provide. Merry Christmas!
Timeless and beautiful 😊❤️🎄🎶

She was indeed something special. Her adult life was a mess, unhappily enough.
WOW!! NO ONE Sold a Song like JUDY GARLAND!!!! She was BRILLIANT in this Movie!! a Classic, song by " THE WORLD'S GREATEST ENTERTAINER" !!! xoxoxoxoxo

I watched it with my husband this week- love love loved it 🥰
I can’t hear anyone else sing this song but her ❤
Judy was a beautiful, unique voice that I will always appreciate.
thanks for this... seriously... fitting in whatever era it is played...
Absolutely gorgeous. What a voice.
If only we could go back and ask both Judy and Margaret questions about this beautiful movie and song 🎵 ❤

What's it about?
Another classic masterpiece sung by the legendary Judy Garland!!!…Karl
So much of a classic sung by Judy, that it’s enough for anyone to say,” I have a strange feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore!!!”
I absolutely love this song. I listen to do it every ever now and I’ve sung this version myself (more than likely I poorly sang it). It’s a wonderful song that just makes the holidays feel special to me.

I love this movie, I watch it any time of year though. Her version of this song usually tears me up
Perfect pitch control with no electronic pitch correction.
Un moment magique , Noël et sa féerie pour oublier ses peines.
Et cette merveilleuse voix ❤❤❤
this is my favorite christmas song her version is just perfect
It really sucks how Judy Garland was treated by the Hollywood system. We lost so much talent from her because of how they destroyed her. This is an unbelievable performance.
I totally agree, I think that drove her to alcoholism. Bless her heart, she was truly a national treasure. Shame on the industry.
I also agree...May she rest in peace.

TCM 🍿🥤🎥🎬📸🎶 is the greatest. Great video
I have no idea what came before this scene or what comes after, but that little girl steals this scene. That aside, Judy Garland at her best.
No other voice quite like Judy❤❤❤

So beautiful♥️
I still hear this version on radio occasionally.
Blessings always ❤❤❤❤
Merry Christmas -24!
Ngl, that monkey toy is super cute, I kind of want one 😊
There’s a beautiful story about the writer of this song, Hugh Martin, Judy’s friend, on the It is Written UA-cam page.
Beautiful voice.
Amazing
Love you Judy

I Was 3 Years Old when Judy Garland Passed Away .
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
She was so beautiful, what a legend 👏
In the soundtrack version she gets the words mixed up singing “faithful friends who are NEAR to us will be DEAR to us”
Saw the film for the first time a couple years ago. That scene didn't play out as I expected.
