Excellent stuff. Glad you included the full conversation with the gentleman rancher in the truck. Seems to me that when I travel, it's random conversations like that with ordinary people that really stick with me. Thanks for sharing
The rancher at 9:00 or so was very interesting and friendly. That's part of what makes riding the TAT (or similar routes) memorable, is meeting interesting people.
Im almost ready to jump on my bike take a short trip 3 or 4 days.........Its cooling off a little....We were in 100 plus degrees when we started Don.....Then a room with a awful A/C unit .......Every room after that I would ask about the A/C .........Hope Richard and you are doing fine.......If your up my way holla friend.....Richard is a tuff freaking nut no quit in him all... I remember when I thought he broke his leg when he tried to go around that tree on our 1st day....Made respect for Richard...
Good vid.Don. Makes me want to get more agressive tires for my T7. I had a little mishap in the mud by myself last week & lucked out. Bike got banged up tho. No more solo riding in the middle of nowhere for me!!!
T7 owner here. T7 or any bike for that matter does not like mud. I have little experience with mud myself. Mostly street 90% for me since that's about what I have time for e.g. two errands today to pick up supplies. I think your ok not too far in the sticks, however I did pickup a garmin inreach mini for longer distance travels. I always ride solo so in the tank bag I keep a motowinch since I'm not used to lifting heavy bikes / dead weight lifting. Hope that helps.
Glad to see the story. I think you're right on throttle through the creek, I myself was wondering how the rear end of the bike got in front of the front tire. The algae growing on top of mud can, like Richard said, be slicker than goose sh*t. You were wondering how to go fast on mud. I don't think mud and 45mph go together!
I try really really hard to keep the bike upright, and when that fails, I try really hard to figure out WHY - I don't bounce as well as I did when I was YOUR age :)
Richard is tougher than gristle on a $2 steak. He rolls up, gets back on the bike and does it again. I'm a wussie when crossing water, mud, sand.... Old bone break easily.
My friend is only ONE of THREE KLX 300 riders that joined us on the trip....and they ALL did shockingly well - much better than the larger, heavier bikes. There will be a review of the KLX soon!

Enjoyed the post. I am an introvert but do enjoy talking to the “real people” in remote places.
I just loved that conversation - it made the video long, but I did not want to cheat anyone out of that one?
Finding little areas to camp is adventure of its own
totally - you sound like you have had plenty of that?
This was really enjoyable. Thanks for posting.
Almost made me jump on the bike just to ride the Oklahoma section. All that green really looked inviting.
the panhandle is really good - more of that next time!

the unspoken best part of it for sure, so few people appreciate those experiences?
