The 2019 Mazda3 Hatchback Out-Utilities Utilities

- There’s just something about Mazdas. The brand has a way of providing the soul of the Miata in all of their cars; something you either get or you don’t. Most recently they’ve been focusing on increasing refinement, comfort, and luxury. Despite some carryover hardware, Mazda considers this 2019 Mazda3 the start of a new 4th generation.

Mazda is the hero we need in the automotive industry. They really do dance to the beat of their own drums and their cars outshine others immensely as a result.
I wonder why MotorWeek was critical of the Mazda 3's 0-60 time of 7.5 seconds? For a compact economy car, that result seems slightly better than average.
It does, but remember, it's got a 2.5 liter engine, where the competition has 2.0 NA or 1.5 turbos.
I thought it could use shorter gearing in the lower range, but then, I don't make cars.
@@davidm5707 It is possible that MotorWeek was thinking of the 1.5T found in the upper trim Honda Civic, but it's also possible that they were referring to the lack of a Mazdaspeed variant of the 3. Your conjecture is as good as mine.
@@davidm5707 1.5t in Honda civic is slower than 2.5 Mazda 3
@@vossler360 Still, a lot of reviewers will say a car "feels faster than the numbers". Maybe they expected that of the 3. Hence my comment on the gearing.
@@davidm5707 MotorWeek wasn't critical of the "feel" of the 3's 0-60 mph acceleration, it was critical of the empirical measure of the elapsed time. The fact that the 3 is normally aspirated may be the subtext of the criticism, hence my reference to the Honda Civic with the 1.5T engine in my previous comment
.
The most beautiful hatch out there. I owned quite a few Mazdas and have the best driving characteristics. Fun cars to drive!
I remember when 7.5 seconds was considered fast
This thing should be at least a second faster to 60 with the horsepower and torque numbers.
Herbert Johnson Automatics tend to be a bit slower in acceleration than manuals. They could try to build up some revs before letting go of the brake pedal, normally that shaves off a bit of time
GTI MK6 with dual clutch 0-60 in 6.4 sec and that's considered on the slow side nowadays. How fast do people need to go?
@@pedrosueta8863 they are not competing with gti.... Corolla is 9.8 seconds
Pedro Sueta yup. I have a ‘16 MX5 Miata, and everyone on the forums says it’s a great car that’s not fast enough to get you in trouble, and that it’s fun to drive a slow car fast. The ‘16 Miata goes 0-60 in 5.8 seconds . Google says that’s quicker than the original Lamborghini Countach, the 944 Turbo, and the Pontiac GTO 5.7L V8.
The interior looks luxurious in my opinion.
The price is a bit high for a compact, but the interior is worth it.
High price? In the car you have so many options without price. Take a bmw or an audi and put the same options in the car. Look which high price now you have
Yeah I dont get this overpriced mania people attribute to the Mazda 3. A touring Civic can max out at 29K
Get a mid level trim.... very well equipped and with AWD for thousands less....
@@nickhildebrandt9475 You're comparing a Mazda economy car to luxury brand cars. Not the same class of vehicles. Of course the luxury brands cost more.
I have had my 2019 3 AWD Hatch with preferred package since July. I love it! It does everything I expected it to do very well. My only little complaints after three months are: no remote hatch release, no auto-dimming rear view mirror and it has tiny gas tank (a little over 12 gallons).
The 0-60 number may not be the best, but in sport mode acceleration FEELS great! That’s what matters to most driving enthusiasts, anyway! I can feel the AWD kick in during spirited driving and it inspires confidence. I’m excited to see how the car handles in our northeastern winter.
Kudos to Mazda for a great job on the new 3!
@2WIREG The premium here in the U.S. (New York) does have them, but I have the preferred. I think I can order an auto-dimming review mirror from the dealer. I gotta check on that.
Had mine since June & still loving it.
Jamie Arthur yes I have preferred too.... the mirror with homelink is something like an extra 400.
Since when is a 0-60 "lumber" of 7.5 seconds considered slow in the compact car economy class? Especially with the base engine?? You guys are silly. Lol
Well, at least in the US there is no optional engine. I like that actually, not having to go to a higher trim to get a better engine. And yes, I consider 7.5 sec to 60 a very good time. I think the reason in might feel slow to the tester is that there is not a lot of low end torque, unlike some turbos. Two things I dont like are the non-touch information system and the horrible visibility of the hatchback. And of course for the price of the car, it should have independent rear suspension.
Ed Smith gotta keep the revs up in the NA Mazda engines. Plenty of pep found there. Just bought a 20 3 hatch. Yes there is a turbo coming... I don’t really care. The car is a hoot to drive!!!
I gotta say that 0-60 in 7.5 is quick! Especially when you compare it to some of Mazda's sporting flagships from yesteryear, like the naturally-aspirated FC RX-7 which does 0-60 in 7.7!
In 2019, a fairly mainstream Mazda 3 Hatch "lumbers it's way to 60 in 7.5s" - I've seen the 3's 0-60 between 7.0s and 7.6s - depending who is driving. Back in 2001, the Lexus IS 300 (priced at $34,500 as tested) was lauded for it's rather quick 0-60 time of 7.6s.
Now the 2023 Mazda 3 Turbo hits 0-60 in 5.6s priced at $35,500 as tested.
Fingers crossed 🤞 on mazda making a speed 3 version, with awd.
They said that they will NOT be doing that
chris huntly - Not happening. “Zoom-Zoom” is a thing of the past at Mazda and that’s really a shame.
They need to just throw the turbo motor in it don't even call it mazdaspeed and I'd buy it
Don't hold your breath waiting for the return of the Mazdaspeed subbrand. Sporty cars are very niche in today's U.S. auto market, so it'd be unlikely that Mazda would be able to make a profit by investing in a resurrected Speed 3. Also note that Ford no longer sells the Fiesta ST and Focus ST in North America, which should tell you about the current demand for hot hatches.
Mazda wants to become premium, not sporty.
Mazdas and Subarus have a very special love and connect with me. They both are so unique 😍
Since when is 7.5 seconds to 60 mph considered as "lumbering" for a compact car that isn't wearing a luxury nameplate??? I feel like they discredit the promptness of this car's acceleration...
Agreed. In today's economy compact segment, a 0-60 acceleration time of under 8 seconds should be considered relatively quick. It's not clear why MotorWeek felt otherwise.
Hahaha so true. I would take that acceleration any day.
It’s probably because it felt slow off the line
I traded a 2015 Kia Forte with the 173 horsepower mid level engine for a 2019 Mazda3. I love this car, but the Kia would walk this thing no problem. I have videos of both 0-60 if anyone is interested, the Mazda video is already up. The Kia went to 60 in 6.7, the Mazda closer to 8 seconds. Huge dfference.
@@jamessteven526 I think the Forte was much lighter, and it sounds strange to me that time, I have timing equipment and can do 7.7s on a 2016 Mazda3 with 50K miles (also, tires make a huge difference). Was the Forte a turbo?
I still love my 2008 mazda 3 hatch
Sorry to hear that you are stuck with that crap.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 It's a pretty good car for it's age though, why the dislike?
@@ECEAaronXavierLobo Nice looking car but it's junk. I bought this car new and had to get rid of it after three months because it had so many problems. The rear view mirror kept falling out because of the cheap glue being used. The driver's side seat control fell out because the plastic tabs would not hold it in place, also the seat frames are made of horrible pot-metal. The rear seats would not latch back up because the wire mechanism inside the rear seats failed. The entire dash board and glove box area had very annoying rattles because the wiring loom was not routed and secured properly. The glove box and sun glasses holder is made out of cheap thin soda bottle plastic. The hood prop is made out of a coat hanger. The C pillar is paper thin that you can put your index finger on it and dent it in with very little pressure. The headlights have a balcony design and allows the snow to accumulate in the winter blocking your light at night. The ergonomics of getting in and out are awful due to the roof line. The software is poorly programmed and gives too many false positive alert when using the safety features or radar cruise control. The cylinder deactivation does nothing to make the engine better and only complicates it further. And although I had a full warranty because it was a new car, Mazda was unable to fix any of these issues because all of the materials used are sub-standard and very cheap and no warranty can fix that. Skip this car and buy something better.
That's a great car! Mine is still going strong!
For a lot of (older) people, getting into and out of and sitting in a small car that is very low to the ground is very painful/ uncomfortable.
Getting into and sitting upright is more physically comfortable.
bought my son one of these and it is awesome.
Lucky super stinking rich kid.
The Hunchback
The proportions are just right on this car.
Nice car. I'm a Mazda fan. I have a previous gen 3. What I don't like is how the stick is now only avail on the high end model. I'm glad they still offer it, though.
It's a smart move I think. Mazda knows the manual transmission is not something people get when they want a cheap car, the manual is an enthusiast choice and why not offer it in the best trim? Majority will buy the automatic anyway.
Majority will eat McDonalds. This is fine, but it does not mean other choices should be eliminated. For the Car, I did not buy Mazda3 because I wanted a sedan and they no longer make sedans with manual transmissions. I have bought two new manual cars in the last two years, no Mazdas, sadly.
What car in its class has a quieter Interior?
The interior in this thing looks gorgeous. Some cars costing $40,000 don't look that nice inside. It's definitely way better than the interior in my 2013 Mazda 3!
Yes I had a 10 3 for awhile.... lovely car but compared to my 20 3.... no comparison:)
A lot of bashing on the 0-60 of 7.5 secs, but I just watched the NEW 2022 Civic Touring review with the top 1.5T and it was slower at 7.7, yet not one iota of negativity about it....
With this now available I have no idea why people would still be interested in a Corolla or Civic.
Because the Civic has a better engine, is more efficient, and more fun to drive. Also, both offer a manual transmission on multiple (and more affordable) trims
@@CurtisStuart27 To each their own. The Civic was definitely not more fun to drive for me. And the interior felt cheap in comparison.
Curtis Stuart - Better engine? Nooo way. It may be faster and more efficient, but the oil dilution issues that the 1.5T has had should be enough for anyone who values their money to put an “X” through the Civic.
This car is ridiculously overpriced. You could probably get a comparable manual Corolla hatchback for 6-8 grand less than the 3. Yes, the 3 is a better car, but for that money you can get a VW GTI.
@@drivedb7 The 3 is not without fault as well, aka software glitches causing stalls and wheels that could fall off. The dilution problem has since been solved and even so it's a risk willing to take imo. I like the 3, but I think it's a step back overall from last generation
It is elegant inside and out. The styling is unique, but it is still light years of the Gm and Ford cars such as the Cruz and Focus. I wouldn't pay $30k for it even at the time of the video.
No wonder I rarely see the 3 on the freeway, it’s the price
@2WIREG The 5 door Mazda 3 hatch starts about around $23,000 for a base model. The sedan is about $2,000 less.
I also don't think American's are entirely aware of how good Mazda's are.
Here in Australia, Mazda dominates the market. the Mazda3 outsells the Corolla.
They are pretty popular in so cal
It's a great bang for the buck and I can't believe people choose the Civic over this gorgeous car.
It's not pricing, it's Americans unwillingness to Mazda products that's why you don't see them. for instance in Canada the Mazda 3 "appear to be" the best selling compact car over there, i see a bunch of them running around over there, pretty much the only Mazda i see to be honest.
I'll admit, the looks of the hatchback are growing on me
I love the front end!! Beautiful
It just sucks when you have to put a front licence plate on it.
Skyactiv x?
hatch is 2g more than sedan? 😬
Waiting for Mazdaspeed!
Honestly it's perfect, but I'd like more power for that price.
It’s a beautiful car; love its grille (the front license plate bracket mounts there, and it needs it), and this car has plenty of power. It is NOT a sports car, but it’s a compact car. The fuel mileage is determined by how one drives, operates, and maintains the vehicle. Mazda is trying to compete with Subaru, which is why they’re offering AWD. As for the price, when you get a “loaded” top level car, they’re not inexpensive.
All the comments here are talking about the prices and hp jeez, trust me if you see it in person and drive it you'll definitely say its the best thing in the segment. The refinement is unreal. The interior and its features are bang for your buck.
Could be a little quicker. Lightweight wheels and tires (unsprung rotation weight), with a filter and exhaust will give it an added kick. I'll wait to get my forged wheels next spring, with just a filter and better and lighter P Zero (4lbs lighter on each corner vs OE Toyo), my car feels a quicker and handles a lot better. I use 93 octane and you can feel the car stutters less on take off when it's hunting for higher gears. Better response and acceleration when passing semi trucks up steep hills, especially with the AC on and managed to get 38.6 mpg on a 50 mile trip. 13:1 compression ratio should benefit from 93 octane. Many testers got it from 6.9-7.2 for the AWD hatch, but they use a 1ft rollout which MW doesn't do.
Man has had the best butter job ever!
My 2009 Mazaspeed3 is starting to die and would love to buy a new mazda3, but it's just to slow for me. Plus the price of a turbo 3 would be around 35k I'm guessing. I can get a ton of better cars for that money.
I dunno about you, but I see an Alfa Romeo Brera bleeding through this
I like it!😎👍
I bought the 2020 premium hatch. It is way quicker than my old 2003 Corolla.
Why can't Mazda stick a Turbo in the 3 ?
They just did.... buy a 2021....
Nice!
Why is the hatchback more expensive than the sedan? Over here in Europe it’s always the other way around
Probably because in America people are less likely to buy a sedan, so the cheaper price could help unload a few extra sedans here & there.
Mazda us due for an all out sports car. I'd love to see them come out with a real GT3 car. Every other car company pretty much has been going balls to the wall the last 10 years with cars, Mazda should to.
They should make a mazdaspeed3 with this chasis
The 2014 Subaru Forester with the 2.5 engine, CVT, and 8.7in. ground clearance gets the exact gas mileage as this with AWD.
Tim Joseph but still ugly as fuck
CVTs are by design meant to get much better fuel economy. You sacrifice driving experience and reliability when you go with a CVT. It just all depends on what you're looking for.
You forgot to mention the Subaru gets 0-60 in 9 seconds
And the Subaru Forester also rides like shit. It's why my cousin got rid of his. Can your 8.7 ground clearance put down .90g on the skid pad? Didn't think so.
mazda does no wrong! such a great car!
Just poor fuel economy, poor visibility, and a high price compared to the competition.
@@palebeachbum well then go buy a kia
@@Kingthin I'll buy whatever I decide is best for me. Still not sure. So many choices.
Mt ain't lying about needing power , I smoked one of these in my vw gli that is just decently quick. Such a sporty looking car needs some uuumph
Coool car motorweek.
I hope this generation does not rust as bad as the previous generations.
Rusting was a problem when Ford had a large stake and supplied a lot of the parts. Since around 2013 Mazda's have improved greatly without Ford parts. The Mazda rust issue is a thing of the distant past.
It won't they fixed that starting with the 2nd gens in 09
I have a 2012 Mazda3 and a 2014 Mazda3, and there's not a speck of rust on either. Also, I don't baby them. They may get a bath twice a year. I don't know anything about the first gen, though.
This is a better looking hatch than the horrendous Civic, but the power and torque are weak! Especially considering that it averages 27 MPG combined.
@2WIREG Meh, people on FB post all kinds of BS. Doesn't mean much.
Besides, at $27K for the Premium trim, it's already in GTI territory, which does have real performance and gets similar fuel economy.
30k for a Mazda 3? Meh...maybe a Mazda 6 yes definitely!
I only paid $23500 for my 6Touring .
That is for the highest level trim.... I just bought the 2nd highest trim (well equipped) 20 3 hatch for thousands less....
27mpg combined? ouch. 7mpg down from 2014 FWD hatchback.
yeah my 14' Sedan was rated at 41mpg and I got 44mpg avg going 65-70mph on cruise control on a 600 mile road trip. They made this generation 300 lbs heavier and ditched the smaller 2.0 engine. They should have stuck with building lightweight cars.
@@Argedis I don't exactly pussyfoot my 14" manual HB and I'm averaging 34.2mpg city + highway. The new FWD MT gets 29mpg. What a disaster.
what trim is your 2014?
@@steve9377 Mine is the i Grand Touring which comes with the 2.0
They were driving the AWD in the video. The FWD gets a respectable 26/35 mpg. That's the version I'm looking at buying
7.5 0-60 is plenty fast. Not sure why we're being told that it's not. Want faster? Get a turbo whatever. 😩
I bought the last generation of the 3 and love it but after waiting for a new performance Mazda that'll never come I'll probably switch to Hyundai Veloster N or Kia Stinger for my next car, sorry Mazda.
Theres that fucking lateral hood seam. Carry that shit to the grille god damn it
No critical review😳
Slower than my GTI with the same MPG? 🤔
@2WIREG The GTI can run on regular. Doesn't *need* premium.
@2WIREG You're misinformed. A Ferrari should NEVER be run on regular. You'd be an idiot to.
No braking performance? Or safety features? A tad overpriced and with mediocre fuel economy.
RIP Mazdaspeed
I actually drove the premium manual, which was a nice car if you like vehicles that chime when you can’t see what’s around because the blindspots can be measured in feet.. i passed.. bought a GTI for 6k less than the mazda 3 manual.
2WIREG Actually it was brand new with the plaid interior, apple car play, and the performance package with a 6mt that has 228hp and 258lbft of torque..
I actively haven’t had a single problem with it, it’s not built as well as my previous Toyota’s but it doesn’t have the terrible blind spots of most new cars, i can drive it myself, in that I didn’t want any of the assist annoyances, I constantly get 38-40mpg on the highway, and it’s a blast to drive..
I did like the Mazda and if i just looked at a vehicle like an appliance where i had given up on life, it would have made the short list, but after i drove the GTI i knew that was a better choice.. still a year later i am convinced it was a better choice..
That said it will never be at a mechanic since i do everything myself.. if you can’t work on cars yourself, buy a toyota corolla IM, while the Mazda is good looking, arguably better looking than the Toyota, the Mazda quality has been spotty, like the Japanese equivalents of volkswagen
2WIREG I don’t drive automatic transmission cars, i wanted a manual, i could have gotten an accord but i really wanted something fun to drive, i could have gotten a preowned mustang but wanted a place to put wood for home improvement stuff the passenger seat will fold flat on the GTI so i can actually fit 8ft pieces of 2x4 in the car with the hatch closed, ive done that now multiple times, or can fit 6ft lengths with the hatch closed and a passenger.. I’m in a midwestern state of the USA. VW actually can still sell tdi vw’s here due to no emissions laws, and yes you are right no awd, but then mazda didn’t offer awd with a manual so that was never an option. I would have bought an impreza if i wanted awd and a manual, or a wrx if i wanted or rather needed that, but i have no need for awd, fwd or rwd is fine in the mild snow we get, though it does get very cold here we really don’t get much snow. The Mazda was way more expensive and I actually got more options i felt were important, yes it’s premium fill, but i really don’t care, i can use the thousands i saved not buying the Mazda for gas for the next 5 years.
ShartingFish ummm I don’t know anyone who drives a Mazda on a regular basis that considers their vehicle an appliance. Words that come to mind when thinking about Toyota and Honda...
Incredible dash instruments. But Fred Flintstone rear suspension?
Doesn’t matter if you know how to tune it right.
Meh...I'm not buying what you're trying to sell me. 😂
All out performance is for the track. Just give me affordable, practical, safety and dependability. I miss my Protege5. It had all these. Mazda has lost touch with its base.
Reminds me old daewoo lanos hatch
OMG, you are so right. I couldn't figure out why the shape looked so familiar. Thanks!
Sure does.
Ol' fishhook hand again
My 2013 Ford Focus ST has nearly double the HP but gets about the same MPG figures and is over a second and a half quicker to 60mph. C'mon, Mazda, step up your performance game!
is yours stock?
Currently, yes, and that's what I find so amazing. A six year old car with more power, that's quicker and faster, but gets roughly the same mileage as a competitor's six year newer non-performace model. The MKIII Focus, and especially the ST, is just a great car!
James Raley The Focus ST is nowhere near double the horsepower. It only puts out 252hp at thats using 93 octane. The only way you would get close to the same mpg is not actually using that power and keeping it out of boost.
@@steve9377, true, not near double the HP, my math was admittedly a bit off, but I consistently get 25mpg average in mixed City driving (expressways and surface streets) on 93 octane, even when I put my foot in it from time-to-time. With the 2.0L EcoBoost you can have either Eco or Boost, not both, but I'm still impressed by the MPG possible for the level of performance available, especially when compared to newer cars, that's my point.
@2WIREG , did you even read my previous reply to Steve? I admitted my math was a bit off and mentioned using 93 octane fuel... duh.

omg... the fuel economy is terrible.
Other than looks, this car is outclassed on virtually every front (speed, fuel economy, horsepower, price, etc.). I mean, you can get a 201 hp Civic Si sedan for $25K or a lot less since they aren't selling. Mazda is playing a very, very dangerous game here, and they simply are no longer competitive.
This car destroys all them with its interior tho and it’s fun to drive
The Civic may have higher fuel economy but the 1.5T in the Civic and CRV have major oil dilution issues. Even if it didn't have them, the longevity on that engine would be questionable and hasn't been proven yet. Small turbo engines are always under a lot of stress compared to a bigger NA engine. The Skyactiv engines have been in production since 2013 and have been bulletproof, they are tried and true. The 3rd gen Mazda 3s had much higher MPG ratings because they were 300lbs lighter and had the smaller 2.0 Skyactiv on the lower trims. Mazda should have stuck with the lightweight formula.
Wrong my friend very wrong. Go back to your Mitsubishi lol
Honda Civic has a hideous design, makes my eyes water just looking at it. I'd rather drive a 1988-91 Civic than a brand new one.
@@vwaudiporsche11 I don't disagree with that at all, and believe the late 80s were one of the best designs. The Civic Type R, while great, is just hideous to own.
TOYOTA - Multi link
Mazda - Torsion beam
No need to go to Mazda.
The Mazda still handles better than the Corolla, I've driver both and the difference is noticeable, it is also way faster (even with the 2.0 in the Corolla).
Good car, but not worth the price
Careful on the road. My 2019 Mazda just about killed me on Sunday... had I been going 60mph I'd be dead from the "automatic bracking" system. Got my recall notice on Tuesday. This car 'technology' is going to kill a lot of people.
Agreed. I had this car and its scary how unsafe it is.
The forthcoming SkyActiv-X **MIGHT** be this car’s only hope. The recalls are an embarrassment, sales numbers are in the toilet, the car is too slow, too inefficient and ultimately too expensive. I like Mazdas, but they really seem to have lost their identity and sense of direction, and this car has been a huge disappointment.
Drive DB7 what recalls? Sales of Mazda’s around here are insane. That’s all I see. They have not lost their identity, they are going for the entry premium cars. And no it’s not a disappointment.
Kevin Wright - Lets see: Rocker arm recall, head restraint recall, rear view mirror falling off recall, loose lug nuts from the factory recall... Have you been following this car at all? It’s a mess; a quality control nightmare. No one is cross-shopping one of these with an A3. They cross-shop with the usual suspects of Civic and Corolla, which are absolutely slaughtering it. And it gets better. According to the stats, these 4th gens are selling even WORSE than the outgoing 2018 model, which is almost unheard of for a clean-sheet redesign. I’ve seen maybe 5 outside of a Mazda dealership lot.
You can cover your ears and shout, but this car is a dud and Mazda seems to be a rudderless ship at this point.
Drive DB7 never heard any of these up here. Obviously it’s only the Mexican built ones with the issues. At least Mazda in the states is doing something whereas GM or FCA couldn’t care less when it comes to recalls. As for the lugnuts, that was their third party supplier who screwed up so that problem is fixed long ago. I would still take a Mazda over any compact car.
@@kevinW826 the VW GTI is a better car. It is faster and can be had with proper transmission for much less.
To clarify: I have owned three Mazdas and might not own another one, except for the miata at some point.
nsbioy of course the GTI is faster, but for reliability I would take the Mazda, as I have not had any issues with mine. Of course the STI is faster than both, but it comes with a whole list of other issues. A buddy of mine use to be a Subaru mechanic and owned an STI, he would rather own a NA Subaru over a turboed one. His wife drives a manual Forester with the NA 2.5.
But I digress, I have driven the GTI, lots of fun for around $30,000 Canadian. A guy I work with has a modified 2010 GTI with 200,000 kms. But in 2 feet of snow, neither beats a truck with ground clearance. Yes I live north of the border.
Sedan looks way better.
I like the sedan, this looks too dark and huntchback design in the back, that's a no-no
Mario Torrez Quant Sedans are dead kiddo
Have you seen the Hatchback in person?
Mario Torrez Quant Hatchback looks far better and is more practical.
Worse mpg, smaller cargo, much worse blind spot, no independent suspension, slower. Yeah, I think I'll keep my 2018 which beats it on all those points and thousands cheaper to boot.
@2WIREG I definitely concede on the road noise, but I have the Grand touring which had the exact same safety features and it has the touch screen which the 2019 does not have. I do think the 2019 interior looks better and even the steering buttons are better but I wouldn't trade up just for that.
Personally I never use the touchscreen because I do have the knob just like the 2019. And yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes I have all those features. Got it new in 2018 for 24k.
The 2019 Mazda3 is not what you think it is. I bought one and had to get rid of it after 2,500 miles. Here is a list of what went wrong. The rear view mirror glass fell out while I was driving. The drivers side seat control panel fell off. The lugs were not tightened up from the factory where it was assembled. The rear seats will not latch back into place. The dashboard on the passenger side has a very annoying rattle. The drivers side arm rest is of no use because it is too low. You also can't rest your arm on the top of the door panel because it is too high. You can't see out the back due to the low rear roofline (removing the rear head rests helps). Getting in and out is for a contortionist- the ergonomics are awful. The safety systems are more annoying than helpful and not to be trusted. There is no cargo net inside the rear hatch. The engine has cylinder deactivation and it does not improve the mpg. The mpg is good but not great. Open the glove box and you will see it is made of soda bottle plastic. The leather on the steering wheel feels very cheap and will probably begin peeling off in a year or two. The C pillar feels like a sheet of aluminum foil. Press your finger on it and see it just collapse. This car looks interesting for sure, but it made with substandard materials and no warranty can fix that. Shop around, there are much better cars out there for the money.
I'd take the civic hatch over this any day.
gladdy02 regular hatch no type r yes. Imagine speed 3 version with awd 2.5 turbo
Slow plus cheap looking interior.
Mazda has largely lost its identity and fun to drive factor. If I want premium, I d go with premium brands. I'd i want fun to drive mazda3, the GTI is a much better deal and a much better car for the price.
nsbioy GTI fun until it starts breaking down left and right lol
@@stevenf5902 A Mazda will do that too. My experience in the last ~10 years is anecdotal and includes 3 mazdas and 1 VW. The VW has been the only flawless one thus far within the first two years of ownership. The mazdas were all giving me issues within the first two years of ownership from new. The VW is my 4th new car and is the only one that has been flawless. Maybe after year 5 it will start falling apart, but so far so good. So in other words, reliability ratings are largely over-rated.
nsbioy I’ll give you that friend! But nevertheless I’ll still try to stay away from turbos if I wanna hold onto my car for as long as possible.
@@stevenf5902 Yep, time will tell.
nsbioy It’s probably luck of the draw as with almost all companies. Good luck with your VW and hopefully good luck with my 3 hatch!
It’s still a girls car.
and you're a little boy that can't afford one.
especially cared for
My wife had a 08 Mazda 3, and yep, it’s still a girl’s car. I guess you have one.
