      You could of done it a way better way with a relay use the tail gate light it turns on with the cargo light .what you do get the get to power from the trailer plug connect that to 30 on the relay from the tail gate light connect it to 86 on the relay that is the trigger then from 87 run it to the light 85 is ground and if you want to add a switch you run the wire from 87a to the switch the from the switch to the light and of course add some fuses just to be safe and your done works just like the factory lights .

    But I was able to put the lights on a backing and the switch. Took a little longer but it did work. Thanks for the video.

      Thanks for the feedback, this was a pretty last minute effort to document the process. I do need some kind of microphone set up for future videos

    Where did you get the black plate that you mounted the LED lights onto? I see the links to everything except that? TIA!

      Thank you for the suggestion, I've reuploaded the video with the corny ass music removed: ua-cam.com/video/nQ6biBjkYkI/v-deo.html I've since ordered an actualy microphone, so I hope to have better audio quality for future videos.

    Hi Johnny, what size of wire and wire loom did you use for this project?

    • @detailership
      @detailership  4 роки тому

      Hi Tim, I used 16ga wire with 1/4” wire loom. The draw is very low on the led’s so I wouldn’t be too concerned with wire size. The run is probably only about 5 feet ea side too. It’s just the sizes that I found in the garage

    DOESN'T SHOW HOW TO CONNECT THE MAGNETIC SWITCH, i tried various combinations using the same items.....IT DOESNT WORK...

    • @dennisranck1613
      @dennisranck1613 3 роки тому

      One lead of the magnetic switch will ultimately go to the truck's frame. The other lead of the magnetic switch will go to the negative of the switch / light combo, in this setup. Or, you could put one lead to the hot coming in from the source (switch), and then the other leg would go to the light.

    The lights that are on the link are not the same. They are smaller and dont fit in the pre hole on the side of the truck also no room to drill the hole for the button.

    • @detailership
      @detailership  3 роки тому

      Just checked the link and it’s still the same one purchased. You have to offset the light higher or lower to make room for the button either above or below the light.
