Ram is one of our most popular vehicles and we have a lot of cool upgrades for Ram. Let us know if you have any questions about these units. infotainment.com/cars/2019-ram-1500/
If there were already wires in the pin slots, wouldn't that mean that the lights were pre-wired, or at least the wires were already ran to the bed? Did you find the other ends of the wires you pulled from the pins?
If you're referring to the pinning to the BCM, it's very likely that the pin 5 on connector C1 is already populated. It's for the Cargo Lamp Driver. It's not that it's pre-wired, it's just you'll be using that same pin for the bed lights that also applies to the Cargo Lamp. There are two methods, you can replace pin 5, like we did in the video, or you can splice the wire to pin 5 which the MOPAR instructions advise. infotainment.com/cdn/uploads/1099038490660_1.pdf
Did anything stop working due to the removed wiring? This is one of a few upgrades I plan to make to my 23 Rebel, and it came with some of the techier packages that i don't want to disable on accident
Nope we did not experiance any loss of features with this installation throughout any of our tests on this kit. All of your current features will be retained.
Genie programs the Body Control Module. You can think of it as your personal dealer scan tool for that singular feature. The programming is the most important part of an upgrade like this as it helps the BCM to recognise the feature and allows for the correct power to be transferred to this part. Without it it very well could drain the battery.
Would this install method work for aftermarket bed rail led light strips. It has the switch, and a hot and a ground wire, guess that’s why I’m wondering why the two wires to the BCM.

My gateway for my 2022 is behind the cluster. You have to remove the cluster to get at it, they did this on purpose so as to avoid tampering easily.

@@Infotainment_nav thanks for the clarification

What are the two wires that go to the BCM? Wouldn’t yoh just need one hot since you dropped that ground?
One wire is for the Cargo Lamp Driver, and the other is for the Cargo Lamp Signal.
What’s the reason for the genie? After pinning the wires are you able to just stop there and call it a day or does it need the genie?

@@Infotainment_nav got it. Thank you for the explanation

Understood! I wouldn't see why not. However the wires to the BCM are to give linbus communication to the Cargo Lamp driver.

Do you know what the wires that were already in place went to?
It's likely that those wires were pinned out, but the connection was never completed because the vehicle did not come with bed lights.
