- A quick demo of my Miracle bender, a great tool to have in the shop. Here I show how to make a simple slip rail holder from an old piece of bar. #GaryHuston #Blacksmithing #Farrier #ASMR #Horseshoeing #Fabrication #Ironwork #Hoofcare #welder #repairs #horse #farriery #engineering

You put the beans to it.Good work.
Thanks Gary
Very cool. Thanks man.
Now I must build one! Very handy!
you have got a wonderful hobby ,thanks for sharing ,greetings from the Netherlands.
Thanks. Another good idea is born. Peter
Nice, I need one!!
It's a miracle.
Great tool these are. I have one but instead of the vice for initial clamping, it's a set-up that works on an eccentric (cam) action.
There's a steel block about 3" cubed, with a 1" hole drilled straight through it but off-centre in both ways (from the x and y perspectives). In the centre of the base plate there's a hole about 3/4" drilled. To operate it there's a vertical shaft of two diameters. The lower section @ 3/4" diameter fits into the base-plate hole within which it rotates. The next 3" of length, above this, is a 1" (less running clearance) diameter that fits the hole in the cubed block and is not concentric to the lower section of the shaft. It's either been turned in a lathe to give two diameters with the lower (base-plate shaft) diameter being turned on an offset centre, or the lower section is simply welded to the upper, deliberately offset.
Thus, as the lower rotates in the base, this upper section rotates eccentric to it. In that way, the cubed block moves to and fro in relation to the back plate. Because the hole in the cube is off-centre, you can flip the cube around in four positions to clamp differing thicknesses of bar, each position giving a small range of thicknesses permissible. The shaft continues at the standard section of 1" diameter for 3 inches or so and is then cross-drilled near the end for a horizontal bar which is the operating handle.
It sounds complicated but it's not and is very quick to use. The cam clamping action is surprisingly positive. It's very convenient for minor adjustments to the workpiece as you are wriggling the marked line into place on the bending edge, because it' so quick.
Otherwise the machine is identical to yours.
Phew, went on a ramble there! Cheers.
This is a very nice video
These benders where used in the electrical industry I was using these for last 50 years+ great for copper bus bars all shapes possible
The last miracle bender I had (bar bender) is when I downed a 5th of Jose Cuevo, friends told me I did things I still can't remember and said it's a miracle I arrived home safely without hurting anyone, including myself. Thank goodness for auto-pilot!
kay ger hahaha 1 tequila 2 tequilas 3 tequilas...... floor!!
This would be nice to have.
Nice set up , i think ima make a adapter to use with my regular vice
Love to see some more of this tool in use. I've been looking for one ever since I first saw this video years ago, but they just aren't common here in the States. I might end up building one of my own, though, and more pictures and videos would certainly be a blessing.
Does the fixed jaw intersect the center of the pivot pin?
I will try and do another video soon
Can you bend it on the wider axis?
how i like english english alot nice work garry
I can think of 101 jobs around the croft you could do with that, and its to lumpy to borrow,
Nice one Gary thanks.
Ok thank you cheers
Very nice is that something that could be bought or did you make it?
Don't know which one that was, but try just clicking the little arrow to the right of the video and click remove.
Do you think if it is possible to turn a vice into this do you think ? If so is it possible for you to show us exacly how its made. IT is very interesting....
Mimlo Miani no , I don’t think it is, if you want a bender, buy a bender!
Fantastico quell'attrezzo! Dove lo hai trovato? Mitico Gary
Paolo Decorato, I bought it from a friend just before he died..
Gary Huston Ma davvero! Però, che sfortuna per lui, ma che fortuna per tè. Hai una bellissima officina e tantissimi attrezzi, e quanti te ne costruisci! Ciao Gary un abbraccio!
This one is bought, although I have seen fabricated ones. Try googling "Miracle bender" you should find info about the company.
This is a nice video. I like your video, especially the ideas concerning become a freight broker for trucking and transportation ..Thanks
Sumon Kabir when did I mention becoming a freight broker for trucking and transportation??
theres a modern version on ebay right now...probably wont last as long....
T=up
Why is it a miracle??
Its just a normal strip bender, and yours is an origional good quality model!!
But its not a miracle!!!
It's the make. It has a big name plate on the side!
oh! you didnt show that or mention it dude!!
+djyul Finding a heavy duty bender like this one is a miracle. If I knew what to look for, I would be looking. Gary just sold me a bender, but didn't say what it was. I really would like this, or even plans for it. I love the old stuff because it is made so well. Once you get a tool like this, you never have to worry about buying another one.
Luvstruck I agree dude, made to last and of quality materials. But no good in the consuming world in which we live.At least thats why we can omly buy cheap crap that come from china.I to my shame bought a strip bender,no name,i had to insert bits of material to get a straight bend out of it.Once you got used to it,it did the job but a pain.
+djyul I don't know your age, but purchasing power for the middle class has gone down the tubes in the last twenty or so years. The fat cats have lobbied their congressmen, and senators to get the laws changed in their favor. It cost them millions, or more, but they now make about forty times more than the middle class. If you display it on a graph, you can barely see the poor, and the middle class. Bernie Sanders is vowing to change it back to where it used to be, so the people who do the work, can reap some of the benefits. We'll see.
