    useful stuff, something I find useful when forming longer scrolls is to soapstone mark where I want the metal moving when I switch forming tools also marking the side of the metal towards the direction it needs moving.
    Thanks for sharing

    Thanks! Very good demo. Clear narration. Painted metals however are always a health problem in the forge. We have to be very careful as we heat coatings and chemicals, greases etc. on salvaged metals. Always clean metals to be welded or heated to avoid potential chronic exposure to respiratory health risks and the absorption of toxic materials.

    Your videos are great ! thanks so much for sharing them ; its the first time I see how to make a scroll - do you have a photo or a video to understand how to make a scroll bender ? excuse me my poor english , Im brazillian

      If you mean the bender that I'm using in this video to make the scroll form you can see it here -- ua-cam.com/video/S5CRsYhJvQ0/v-deo.html

    Love the video. What is the bending tool you’re using at the 4:00 minute mark?

    • @df-intheshop330
      @df-intheshop330  2 місяці тому

      It's basically the same design as the Harbor freight model only the bars are extended above the bending arms to make It easier to bend full circles.

    You make everything look so easy! Do you have any videos on how to make a bender? I can sort of see how it's made but, I'm chicken to start when I'm not really sure!

    Just a quick question, sir. At 3:33 are you saying bits or bics? I tried using the closed captioning, but it didn't quite pick up on it either, I don't think. If it's bics, would you mind terribly sharing what that is? If it's bits, then I think I'm good, lol. Thank you for another great video!

    • @df-intheshop330
      @df-intheshop330  7 років тому +1

      That is bick ( short for bickern, also called a stake anvil ) which is an small anvil that fits in the hardy hole of a larger anvil to allow you to hammer small shapes that won't fit around a full sized anvil.

      Thank you, sir! That explains the kinds of results I got with my online search, and tells me what the object has been that I've seen you use from time-to-time that wasn't a mandrel :D I appreciate your reply!

    Will you consider building me three or four scroll forms 4 "6" 8" ?

    • @df-intheshop330
      @df-intheshop330  7 років тому

      Sorry I'm not building anything right now. I hardly have enough spare time to get the videos out. You don't need 4 different scroll forms anyway. Make one form that has the largest starting radius that you are after and use that to make the other scroll forms you need. That way even if you are off a little all the scrolls will look the same. It's the overall proportions that are important not the exact shape of the scroll.
