Nice video thanks! I used this to pull the wheel in a ex35 journey 2008 Infiniti. I then went on to remove the trim, wrap it in 3m matte black film and reinstall. Looks like new after the terribly designed factory coating peeled off.

Next time use the heat gun more to get the vinyl nice and soft so it flexes and molds better. Usually you can heat it up and basically just press it and it will shape right to the item you are wrapping.
Yea totally. I think this wrap was a different consistency/texture than like a straight glossy vinyl. It was a pain to work with.

I simply peeled the black layer years ago and left the gray. Looks clean, you simply have to do it with your nail and make sure you don’t do it too hard so you don’t peel that one. It’s been like 3 years and it still looks good. That layers is much stronger than the upper black layer. So i decided not to paint or wrap.
Definitely a good option. It's sad they don't make the top coat more durable...
Quick and Dirty yeah man, I am having lots of issues with my g. I live in Florida, my whole dashboard is cracked everywhere, floods from the sunroof into the floor. I have had to do so many mods to fix this stupid things that Infiniti knew from the g35 and they didn’t do anything about it. I am wrapping my dashboard next week with vinyl, I can’t take looking at it anymore lol. Yeah just putting it out there for others who had issues with it and looking for answers. I also drilled holes to the floor like 4 or 5 on each side and coated with metal protectant, and every year or so I put oil for rusting, so when it rains the water can drain out because I have tried many things to fix the drain problem and its almost impossible unless you open up the car everywhere and that’s just not something many have time for. Quick and Dirty my wife has a Honda Accord same year, same mileage, her has no window tints and she barely covers the front. Her dashboard is perfect, so it has nothing to do with Florida but simply Infiniti made a crappy dashboard that can’t withstand this climate.
I can't believe there is not an aftermarket kit for this. They would make a killing!

I did it nicely but once I put it back in and connected the battery, when I turn on the car my battery light comes on and the engine whines, i googled it and it say that is the sound of a failing alternator, which doesn’t make sense since I only touched the battery

I have an Infiniti Q50 that I need to replace the steering wheel airbag. I removed the 2 caps but I don’t see a torque or any screw to remove to get the airbag out. What should I do?

Hello i successfully took it off but in the process of pulling the steering wheel off the piece attached to the two cables with the red and yellow ends connected to the airbag came off and im having trouble puting it back due to the white flat cable things that wrap around it any advise on putting it back on having trouble and dont want to accidently tear them.
Without a picture I'm not sure. But it sounds like you may have destroyed the ends?

I own 08 G35ss.
1. If I disconnect battery terminal before I remove the steering wheel, will I be able to pop up the hood even after disconnecting battery terminal? (the reason why I'm asking is that I want to close hood while I wrap the steering wheel trim and wondering if it's possible to pop up the hood even battery is out)
2. What size of wrench socket do I need when I remove negative terminal battery ?
Yea the battery won't affect the hood operation. And I think the battery terminal nut is either an 8mm or a 10mm if I remember correctly.

Bro i did this and after my horn is going off . It seems like i can’t get the air bag in to fit proper again any suggestions do u think it has something to do with i stripped the screws and had to replace them w some from Home Depot
I'm not sure to be honest. I'd check to make sure everything is seated correctly and that the wires are connected properly. Sounds like something may be shorting out.

How long should I let the battery drain for? Thats my biggest concern with this is not having the airbag blow up in my face.
Unhook the battery and leave the door open or flash your headlights. Once the door chime stops you're good to go.

Ok G37 people- million dollar question here. I'm sure it's gotta be possible- does anyone know of any way if transplanting a heated steering wheel into a 2013 G37s? I imagine it has to be possible as so many Nissan and infinities have that option. If anyone knows I'd be SO appreciative! Thanks.

Lol you dod something backwards. Probably put the horn bracket with the torx screws and springs in a different order.
Austin Murphy I had screwed them all the way down so I loosened them up a bit and it stopped doing it lol
@@donttrip1514 Yeah, you put the springs down first, then the thin metal bracket on top of them, and then you put in the torx screws on top of the bracket.

dam my torque wrench lowest setting is 10 foot pound, airbag bolts then from factory spec is 6 foot pounds. Would it be alright if i set them to 10? don't think it will snap the bolts.
The torque specs of the airbag bolts are not that important, just make sure the steering wheel center nut is torqued to the correct spec.
n3m3sis2 my torque only goes upto 80 not the 82 so I guess it close enough.

Sure, just make sure that all the power is drained from the car before starting work. Leave the door open until the chimes stop. Good luck!

I just replaced my steering wheel and used this video. There should be two springs underneath the metal frame the airbag sits in. The horn is activated by pushing this frame against the steering wheel main frame. Your springs may not be in place correctly.

It would, yes. But it won't hold up that well. I'd spray paint it with paint that is compatible with plastics. Good luck!!
