I never understood how someone could thumbs down a video of someone taking their time to show you a possible way to achieve your goal, smh. I personally found the video helpful and I greatly appreciate you taking your time to demonstrate your process. I’m excited to start my DIY.
It's a little harder than it's made out to be in the video, but without this video I wouldn't have tried this, so THANKS! To loosen the 2 Torx which are in with Locktite, I used Channel Locks to turn the nut driver holding the Torx bit. The little clips that hold the air bag connectors need to be pried off with a small pic or screw driver, takes some fiddling. You'll need a breaker bar to loosen the nut on the steeing wheel. To finally get the cowling off the back of the steering wheel, it's easier if you take off the metal ring so that you can get to the tabs.
I used ordinary household isopropyl alcohol and a rag, removed every bit of it without any issues. Came out like right from the factory. Thank you for the video, very helpful!
Man, that turned out great! I've been staring at my horrible looking G37s steering wheel for years. Definitely doing this on my next weekend off! Thank for sharing! How has the paint held up?
Excellent video with very detailed information. You give us confidence to the Infiniti owners of how to fix this common paint peel problem on the steering wheel. Keep up the good work man. Fyi, I own 2009 Infiniti g37s coupe.
for those that dont like that glossy black, if you scuff the gray , there is the satin black plastic under that, perfectly matches the original look. so, scuff the top damaged black , then scuff the ugly gray, finally at the black level which will not be scratchable again.
All those issues you have with the trim, dash board, and lights are in my 07 G35x. Fixing them one at a time. I just don’t have the balls to mess with the steering wheel yet.
If you have G35, M, or FX with cracked Dash, put a complain in with Infiniti USA. Then keep bugging them every month on the issue since its a common one and threaten them that you'll never buy another Infiniti again as it hurts the resale value also. My 05 G coupe had cracked dash and so did my M35. I put a complaint for the M in 2013. Was a bit hassle but Infiniti finally agreed to replace my whole dash with a new one for the M35 in late 2014. Was def worth it. Saved $1500.
@@artcore9886 this really works? My 08 G35x has cracking on the dash around the Navigation system. Totally ruins the look of the inside, I want to replace it but as you have said too expensive!
Does any of your guys steering wheel move left or right? Mine goes left ND right when it's adjusted all the way up is it normal? Please comment wat u think!! Thanks
by the way this video is great man keep up the good work. sir i was wondering i have a g7x mark2 one of my screw missing is the way you could help me with right size .
I'll never understand why the steering wheel wasn't leather wrapped. That rubberized coating peels away SO fast. My MOMS Subaru has a leather wrapped wheel.
Blows my mind Infiniti won’t admit this is a problem. They call it normal wear and tear. Each one of us here know that’s total BS. I hope they realize treating their customers like idiots is the fastest way to lose loyal customers
just like if you ever go to adjust your headlights it’s a 10mm but they covered it with this plastic thing so you need their special tool to adjust them unless you break the plastic off
Nice video man, I have several questions about trim removal. I own 08 G35ss. 1. If I disconnect battery terminal before I remove the steering wheel, will I be able to pop up the hood even after disconnecting battery terminal? (the reason why I'm asking is that I want to close hood while I wrap the steering wheel trim and wondering if it's possible to pop up the hood even battery is out) 2. What size of wrench socket do I need when I remove negative terminal battery ?
Just Vlad thanks the kind reply sir! When I was trying to unbolt T30 screws on the sides, they are stripped... how can i remove stripped T30 screws?!... 😂
BonezWorld the same thing happened to me, so i bought a new one. Once I put it all back together the airbag lights turned on. Did the same happen to you?
Not clear coated just the paint. It's holing up very well. Car sits in the sun and paint has not faded or degraded in any way. Some minor scuffs are seen but it's normal wear. I'll do an update video soon.
For anyone who’s actually attempted to complete this (me), there are quite a few steps he left out. It’s not nearly as easy as he makes it look. I was actually really frustrated dissembling the wheel (not knowing what I got myself into) and I had to look at another video to piece in the gaps.
Thanks for the reply! And could you please reply to my other comment where I mentioned about common problems or things I must check before purchasing 07~08 G35 sedan? Please!
Thx just did that and door handles. Like an ass, I got one from ebay to replace it. So if anyone needs a Front Passenger trim with controls, freshly painted. I have one.
I was thinking the same thing. There really isn't any gloss inside those cars. I would have used a satin black, but actually I am thinking of doin mine in red. The red may set it off nicely.
U got it fixed I had the same problem I had just pop the bottom black piece into its designated slot then everything else normally and got it working back to the norm.
Wow such low quality products for an expensive car. I've seen rather inexpensive cars Interiors be more durable then what's happening to the steering wheel.

maybe the thumbs down was for the socks with flip-flop combo he's rocking in the vid.

what pain did you use?
GREAT tutorial. My son and I followed it step by step to do our wheel trim. Really appreciate that you showed reverse order too.
Nice job! Detailed directions, thanks for including how to scuff the old paint off before repainting. I’m doing this to my EX35 this weekend! 👍🏻
Idk why but this was the most simple and easiest video I’ve seen on this project.
Thanks a lot for the upload. I'm sure it helps to many infiniti owners. Thanks again

I have a 2008 EX35 crossover and it looks 100% the same steering wheel I have. That’s awesome! Thank you!

Very well made video. You made it look really easy. Thanks!
Thanks for the upload honestly me and my dad did this in about an hour.
Bro you just saved the interior of my g35x I did all my doors and I'm gonna do this asap
Makes your car look less used and absolutely helps resale.
Great video! Thanks for taking the time to make the how to.
i was worried this wheel would be hard to take off. I'm very excited to see how easy it is. Thank you!
Looks better than new. Awesome job.
Great video. How do I just remove or change the left hand side source button ?
This vid deserves alot of liked

Hydro dipping it would turn out dope I bet!
Good tutorial. you could have wrapped it also. Nice job.
Did you get any warning light after this procedure?, cause I saw the steering angle sensor moving while you were doing this.
Thanks for sharing bro.👍🏻
Thank you and here is my hug. Thank you.
Well done bro, keep it up!!
thanks for the video dude! could you share in list form everything you need for this DIY. excited to give it a go : )
is that how they do steering wheel alignments?? 3:05
how do you pop off the middle part on the shiffter knob to paint it.
Where are you located, since you did it so easily?
Thanks Vlad !!!! GREAT video !!!!

Great video. Now only if we can diy repair our cracked dashes
Thanks! Actually I got a video for that coming up 👊

Your true pro man outstanding👍
Great tutorial! Thanks

When are you going to make a vid where you do the door handle panels paint ?
by the way this video is great man keep up the good work. sir i was wondering i have a g7x mark2 one of my screw missing is the way you could help me with right size .

Does it leave an odor? Like a paint type of odor?
My dash also just got those soft sticky patches that came off too
How did you get the Torx bolts out for the airbag so easy? The threadlocker on them makes them so tight I’m going to strip/snap the bolts for sure.
I used my Milwaukee impact to get them off. They’re pretty tight.
Hey I need help why horn is not working anytime help ??
Looks great!
How did you get those pin clips out?
You did great bro
In my car I just removed the paint with a credit card without remove it and the original base color is a grey shining look better then that and easy
That’s what I’m probably gonna do I don’t feel like taking the wheel apart.
Black is best
You’re the best thank you!
Good stuff!! 👍
What a great video
So I did this and bought a carbon fiber trim piece instead, but I installed it and now when I hook up the battery the horn won’t stop honking
Great video. Thanks!
You helped me..THANK YOU!
Thanks. Nice job,
Nice video man, I have several questions about trim removal.

(the reason why I'm asking is that I want to close hood while I wrap the steering wheel trim and wondering if it's possible to pop up the hood even battery is out)
2. What size of wrench socket do I need when I remove negative terminal battery ?
The hood release is manual so you can open it with out the battery connected. I think the battery terminal is a 10mm nut. Thanks
Just Vlad thank you so much for the reply!!
Just Vlad thanks the kind reply sir! When I was trying to unbolt T30 screws on the sides, they are stripped... how can i remove stripped T30 screws?!... 😂
Sayless ima be doing this💯
Do you happen to know the procedure to rewind the cable spool in the steering column? Mine came undone when I removed the wheel
No, I don't. Try looking in forums maybe.
mine too...you're screwed buttwad!
I fixed it in like 30mins
BonezWorld the same thing happened to me, so i bought a new one. Once I put it all back together the airbag lights turned on. Did the same happen to you?
Awesome video
Any1 had a problem wen putting it back complete and while driving the back plastic scrapes wen turning the wheel?
Did you clear coat it as well? How is it holding up to scratches now?

Thanks for posting what the other video was..............
looks great!
did you get high RPM idle after you disconnect your battery?
Nope, all was normal after the reconnect.
Another weird day at the UA-cam recommended page.
Is it possible to lock the car after removing negative battery terminal? Because I will fix the trim at my home....
yes, manually lock all the doors from the inside then use the metal key to lock/unlock the drivers door.
Thanks for the reply! And could you please reply to my other comment where I mentioned about common problems or things I must check before purchasing 07~08 G35 sedan? Please!
Didn't have enough time with the G to know all the common problems. But if I can gather enough information I'll make a video. Thanks
I will be really appreciated it sir! I'm looking for used 07~08 G35 sedan sport... Thank you so much!
Thx just did that and door handles. Like an ass, I got one from ebay to replace it. So if anyone needs a Front Passenger trim with controls, freshly painted. I have one.
My steering wheel started rubbing after putting it back on I couldn’t figure out what was causing it
You have to pull the airbag wires straight out and place them in the clip. That rubbing is the wire kinked.
Welp, followed you and you didn’t mention the bracket before pulling out the wheel and now my wires are fucked… 🙄
Clean👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks
We did silver to match trim in the car.
I'd love to see how that looks. Is it holding up?
Nice! But black colour too glossy!
I was thinking the same thing. There really isn't any gloss inside those cars. I would have used a satin black, but actually I am thinking of doin mine in red. The red may set it off nicely.
🙄 same issue I got and it’s irking the shit out my nerves 😫come do mine please pretty please
Nice breh, I'll probably use plastic dip. Just used it on my interior door handles 😁
great job man!
Socks with sandals is a crime lmao
Nice
Time for a mewant wrap for steering wheel
I just scratched it all of evenly
I stripped the bolts to take the airbag off... RIP
lol ROFL.
same. what did you end up doing?
When I connect my battery the car starts beeping
U got it fixed I had the same problem I had just pop the bottom black piece into its designated slot then everything else normally and got it working back to the norm.
I’m good, eBay it is
Wow such low quality products for an expensive car. I've seen rather inexpensive cars Interiors be more durable then what's happening to the steering wheel.
My
Good video! Thanks.
Thanks
Nice.
