This Oil-based easy Lip Gloss tutorial uses moisturising oils like CASTOR OIL, VITAMIN E & ALMOND WAX for a LASTING GLOSS THAT NOURISHES YOUR LIPS instead of drying them out.
For a fun twist I decided to use all natural colors like Cocoa Powder & Beetroot Powder that you can easily find in the supermarket, but feel free to substitute this with more pigmented Dyes.

Store-bought Lip Glosses are usually packed full of chemicals & preservatives that can irritate your skin. And if there's one place you don't really want to put unsavoury ingredients -- it's your face! So there are a lot of pros to making your own lip gloss, and this easy Natural Tinted Lip Gloss recipe is a great place to start!
In this tutorial I'll show you how to make an all natural lip gloss base, along with 2 tinted Lip Gloss recipes.
Natural Tinted Lip Gloss Recipe:
- 30g teaspoon Castor Oil
- 10g teaspoon Almond Oil
- 5g teaspoon Almond Wax (or any Beeswax Alternative)
- 2g ¼ teaspoon Vitamin E Oil
For Tinted Lip Gloss:
- 2g Cocoa Powder
- 2g Beetroot Powder

you can use a glass muller to avoid the grainy texture of beetroot powder , same method used in oil color making.

Haven’t done this myself, but maybe you could try infusing the oils with the beetroot powder for a of couple days before preparing it so that the colour infuses the oils, and then strain the mixture so in the end it’s not a grainy texture. It’s a technique used in soap making and I think it could work 🤷🏻♀️ anyways, lovely recipe 💜

What tints did you make, and which ingredients did you use for them?
If you want to incorporate colour of beetroot powder then you take a cotton cloth, put powder in it and tie it up to make sure it can't come out. When you are heating oils up just put the tied cloth in it like you would put tea bag in water and viola you'll have the colour of beet. Although on lips it'd transparent too
I Love how it is Natural Ingredients and not sticky like other Lip Gloss.

I have infused hibiscus into glycerine and the color is gorgeous and intense but I don't know a lot about the whole formulation puzzle. It may be worth trying though. I want to see if it infuses into oil.

I wanted to comment on the beetroot issue.. i think could put it in a stone pestle and mortar and grind it into a fine powder before adding it to the oil.. that would help it to be alot smoother. I read online that almond oil evaporates.
Since the wax had to be melted beforehand doesn't it solidify again in the tube? Have you had any problems with anything separating in the tube over time?
